You remind me of me when I was a kid. My brother is nine years older than me. When I was 10 he got hurt and couldn't play with his college band. I had to sit in and play the whole show which was an hour and a half and it was big band swing and jazz which is really fast. Don't just play metal expand and learn latin, funk, jazz, swing and then apply it to metal. Listen to Chad Sexton of 311 sometime. That guy is amazing! also, Thomas Lang and Buddy Rich for defining your chops.
