Not really a 10 or 15, Gale was a separate division of OMC from Johnson or Evinrude, all the stuff on the outside is generic OMC but the internals of the engine, pistons crank ect are different. The reason the cowls are different is because mine is missing all the trim pieces. A good place to start for help restoring the beast is the iboats forums in their offbrand outboard section, good group of guys there.
Thanks, I think the 12's are a little more rare, not a very common size, I like the old Gale outboards, they are different but still easy to get parts for.
I picked one of these at a yard sale and couldnt get it to turn over yet... cowls are a bit different but I like the tank on top.
Do you know if it's a spiced up OMC 10 or dumbed down 15 ?

Nice! Never seen a 12hp Sea King. I have a 1956 and 1957 5hp. Sounds good when you leaned it out.
