Wow!!! Thats a really good shot unproned from a standing position. I have an M1 Garand and I could never hit that plate from a standing unrested position. Its pretty heavy. Good shooting. I think most people don't understand how hard it is to shoot a Garand from a standing position, its not like an AR or one of those lighter rifles.
i'm an aussie and you have shown me that there's a lot more to shooting than i ever could have thought. I wish we had more relaxed gun laws here so i could get some guns of my own but i guess i'll just have to watch your videos instead. Anyway, thanks for the great videos man, they are appreciated across the globe! :)
I've recognized myself when you said that young people grew up looking at this gun in video games or movies. This is how I saw this gun the first time. But I also know this gun because my grand father used that gun during the Wold War II. Then he used the M1 Carbine because he was a paratrooper.
Honestly, if I had to go to battle, I wouldn't hesitate to use a Garand. Sure, it might be obsolete, but with a healthy supply of 30-06 ammo, it wouldn't be too bad.
Right about @ 6:09 bird flies right infront of you lol. Great videos btw, definately one of the best, if not the best gun videos on all of youtube. Hickok45, those knife marks on the stock are most likely from whoever carried the weapon in combat, I know from several biography's that I've read of experiences in WW2 that Soldiers or Marines often tallied their kills on the stocks of their weapons.

@grantsdaman01 Actually they liked that it poped out, to let you know you're out. With other rifles, you have no idea when you're out, if you line up a target then squeeze the trigger, then "click", nothing. Target gets away.
@grantsdaman01 Actually they liked that it poped out, to let you know you're out. With other rifles, you have no idea when you're out, if you line up a target then squeeze the trigger, then "click", nothing. Target gets away.
And sound wise, its not "PING!!!!!" its more like "ping"...impossible to hear in battle amongst the intense sound of combat, its just too small of a sound, plus even in quiet conditions you cant even hear it more than about 20 yards, you just see it pop out with no sound
@grantsdaman01 Fun Fact: Enemy soldiers learned that the "Ping!" meant our troops were out and when press the attack when they heard that noise in smaller skirmishes. When we figured it out that THEY figured it out, our troops would lie in wait behind cover, throw an empty clip at the ground, simulating the "Ping!" When an enemy soldier popped out from behind cover to fire, they capped him.

I've never held or fired a real one, but I am a huge fan of two of its descendants: The M14 and Ruger Mini 14.

Hey Hickok, what grade is that? (From CMP) service grade?
reaperflynn3 1 year ago 3
@reaperflynn3, I'm not sure. I think I still have the CMP paperwork, if I can find it. If I find it, I'll post that information in the description of my Garand viideos sometime.
