  • hey man thanks a lot for the awesome tutorial! i've always loved the stabby synth chords but i never was quite sure on how to get it just right. this video helped me out a ton and it was exactly what i was looking for!

  • your voice is so soothing haha

  • Cheers for the sweet tutorial! Just one thing, try to get a more clean voice playback so its easier to hear and follow along... Especially if your speaking during a synth plackback ;) But otherwise great stuff! Cheer cheer!

  • Thank u soooo much I have sylenth 1 and native instruments but Ableton has some pretty sick sounds so im glad I know how to use this now :)

  • are you trying to not wake your parents or something?

  • Or you could just torrent it.

  • are you fucking kidding me? if you're going to make a video at least make sure that you're speaking in a normal tone of voice. dumbass

  • god damn man i coudlnt take the voice i kept looking around to see if someone was coming at me

  • "Stuff N' Stuff" folder-.- obviously you listen to deadmau5 right?

  • The decay on filter isn doing nothing if you dont pump up the envelope funcion mate. Anyway, good tutorial.

  • that bit at the end reminds me of andrew bayer haha

  • how the hell do u open up the piano roll in the arrangemnet or put the loops in the arrangement view :OO amazing tutorial btw :))

  • THANK YOU! :)

  • Very helpful! Thanks alot for the tutorial! :) I've been producing Progressive house music for a long time and I've never been creating my own synth for the sound! Working on a recreation of one of my first progressive tracks that I've ever made. Once again, thanks! I would love if you checked my tracks out and told me what you think! :)

  • This video is awesome. Exactly what I was looking for. So man videos use native. Thank you so much for using Operator. Keep putting out videos.

  • Thank you so much for this video. I appreciate it so much. I have been searching for a big stabby progressive synth line to finish up my song for a while now and could not figure out how to make one my self. I would love to show you the track when it is done because you really helped pave the way! Thanks a ton man! I appreciate it. I loved the 130 am at the top of your menu bar on the mac. Appreciate it.

  • Great tutorial, keep up the good work mate! Nice melody as well

  • REAALLYYY helpful tutorial. REEAAALLLYYY fucking annoying voice man. sounds like a rapist.

  • @echoplex6669 I promise that my other tutorials sound at least 34% less rapey...

  • @98PercentChimp i laughed so fucking hard when i read that. i like your rape voice...its soothing.

  • @98PercentChimp lmao glad u have a gd sense of humour dude :)

  • @98PercentChimp I like it, its like your whispering abelton knowledge intomy ear, sensually.

  • @98PercentChimp you don't sound like a rapist don't worry, probably some desperate person who needs to be huged or fuged :)

  • @98PercentChimp Great tutorial. You can rape me any day.

  • @mikebx21 XD

  • @echoplex6669 If anyones a rapist its this song. It raped my ears.

  • @echoplex6669 Stop bitching and enjoy the Tut!

  • @echoplex6669 Don't be hating on his voice. Why don't you upload a video with you talking huh?

  • can you move the mic away from your damn mouth, no one wants to hear your fucking lips smack when you talk!!

  • I almost slept watching it. But the song worth it!! Actually you could talk to me every night, I like your voice. It's sexy.

  • I should note that you will only have Operator, Analog and Ableton's other instruments if you have Ableton Suite or you purchase them separately. If you just have the Ableton Live demo, I HIGHLY recommend you spend the extra $ and get Suite if/when you decide to buy.

  • hey bro, what instrument did you use to play the notes prior to adding the operator, cuz i cant get that progressive sound, i need to know what instrument you used to play the notes, thanx good video, i learned alot..

  • i have ableton live 8 and i dont have any of the synthesizers. whats that about?

  • @kevon050687 If you purchased Ableton Live 8 instead of Ableton Suite 8, or have Live Lite, etc, you won't have any instruments like Operator or Analog. You can purchase them separately but it's much less expensive to just upgrade to Suite. Still, at something like $700 (or $400 on educational, like I bought it), it's still damn expensive. However, I think it's worth the extra $150ish to upgrade over Live 8 alone.

  • @98PercentChimp or, i know that it's not so fair, but just download it as a torrent and it's simply done. 0$

  • Cheers for the awesome tutorial man :)

  • GREAT VID, EXACTLY WHAT I WAS LOOKING FOR! NOW I JUST NEED ABLETON LOL

  • You should do a tutorial on Electric.. I can never understand how it works..

  • come on he deserves more than 25 likes (:

  • Thanks for all the great comments. Glad I could help some of you! Apologies for the poor vocal audio...It was 3am and I had to use my built in mic. I promise it will be better next time.

Speaking of next time, what kind of tutorial would you like to see next? Keep in mind that I'd like to focus on using Ableton's core instruments and not VSTi's. Make your suggestion in the comments or in a video response and the person(s) idea I pick will get a mention in my next tutorial!

  • @98PercentChimp

For the next tutorial could you focus on maybe making a purring bass???

It's heard in a lot of electro tunes lately,

    Thanks

  • @98PercentChimp haha. great tutorial. very helpful. but ur mac says it was 1.30 not 3 ;)

  • did you ever use this in a full song? i would love to hear it man!

  • @alizespiano I've added a video response for the full track, "Riding The Beam". You can also download a HQ 320Kbps MP3 at my website, 98percentchi.mp

  • Great content, awful voice recording. But still, great content.

  • you are the softest talker.

  • Fantastic tutorial... thanks heaps 98PercentChimp :) Great stabby synths here, and I'm all about using Ableton devices over VSTi's. Thanks again

  • make more progressive house ableton tutorial..very nice tutorial..

  • love it! thank you

  • How do you turn "Retrigger" off in Ableton Live 7? I can't see it anywhere, pls help

  • @Bonaqua80 Retrigger is the yellow box labelled "R" in the phase section for each oscillator.

  • @98PercentChimp Thanks! Everythings working now... Nice tutorial btw! (:

  • do you have the als file please :) ?

  • aww man your are awesome!! i learned so much with your video thank you soo much!

  • Absolutely love it mate. Learned a lot.

I would really appreciate, and I'm sure others would too, if you could do some more tutorials on making various House synths on operator like this one. Tutorials of this calibre are really lacking on Youtube.

    Thanks :)

  • Hey man great tutorial!

Do you mind if I use your chords setup in a part of this song I'm attempting to make?

(also, on a sidenote, it was really hard to hear what you were saying near the end you probably should've turned down the synth's volume a little for the tutorial but other than that nice video)
