Egon Spengler - The Brains of the Ghostbusters

Peter Venkman - The Mouth of the Ghostbusters

Winston - The Muscle of the Ghostbusters

  • Far as I'm concerned The Real Ghostbusters is an official series of sequels to the movie, as legit as it gets

  • As far as I'm concerned The Reak Ghostbusters is just a series of kickass sequels to the movies, as official as it gets

  • Dan Aykroyd is a fucking genious

  • the only good thing dic ever made

  • Dan Arkroyd is a very smart, creative guy, I really respect the man, same for Harold Ramis, he's also a really cool dude.

  • @andoc- I second that!

  • @ 0:34, when did Slimer become a cat? This part makes me laugh ridiculously.

  • I'm so glad that they made the videogame. It was soo good like the movies.

  • This was great!

  • Rolf's Cartoon Club? That thing he did with his knuckles on a desk - class!

  • lol This cracked me up.. This analysis makes the film worthwhile

  • The film makes the film worthwhile.

  • Things I was not prepared for: Making of Real Ghostbusters video to load to reveal Rolf Harris.

  • season 1 and 2 were the best, but the rest they are ok, i think, but still, i love this cartoon since i was a kid

  • is that rolf harris at the start??

  • yes, it even has his name on the video... :)

  • oh shit, he SAID belushi. i just always thought it was always on off the record thing. well, there you go. look at his face when he talks about slimer. a little sad

  • I just lovethe sound of the proton pack heating up and unleashing.

  • Ghostbusters Day

    6/16/09

  • :( have to wait for later in the year for xbox version

  • You must live in the UK. If so the US version is region free so just import it.

  • your kiddin....awesome! thanks man

  • OH SH$* where u get this from i have never ever saw this vid b4, so cool get to see the behind the scenes. All studios should do this with every cartoon series they make so we can see how its all done and put to film.

  • Why do i feel hunted by a strange overexcited Australian?

  • man Dan Aykroyd,

I don't think too many people understand how brilliant he is... probably because he does seem to stay quite low-key.. because not only was he Ray in the movie but he was actually the CREATOR of Ghostbusters!! I never knew that!! I saw him in a new light after I discovered that. Very interesting guy that Aykroyd

  • Comment removed

  • but you have to remember Ackroyds original draft was 90% different to the final film it was full of time travel and guys with wands instead of proton packs, very weird,.

  • i remember that winston was from the military and was supposed to teach these bumbling theoreticians how to shoot. the concept is amazing, it would HAVE to turn from wizards to proton packs. you cant really make something like that out of the blue.....

  • If good ol' Dan Ackroyd saw how the DVD box set is being sold and by how much, there's a great possibility that he and Muray will be suing Sony's coperate ass for abusing the franchise they made.

Time Life = Load of Krap, in my opinion.

  • Wow! I never saw this documentary before. This is so cool.

  • was ghostbusters a movie b4 the cartoon?

  • don't be stupid,

westerns do movies then crappy merchandise, games, toys come later

    asians are different eg.japanese

it starts off as computer games, then manga, then anime

  • yes, the movie came before the cartoon.

  • what is the year of this video?

  • It was shown on CITV(kids slot of ITV) here in the UK around November/December 1989 on a Friday when the cartoon was shown. It was shown to promote both the cartoon and Ghostbusters 2. GB2 was released in the UK in cinemas in December 1989(those days we got films well after the USA). The cartoon was the number one cartoon on CITV at the time. Rolf Harris had his own show called Rolf's Cartoon time where he showed how cartoons were made. This was kind of a special episode of that show too.

  • thankyou!! I could never remember the name of Rolf's show! I knew he had one!

  • I'll always remember this show fondly. It helped me deal with my own childhood fears. Love the show! Love the characters! Who you gonna call?

  • Woah I remember watching this in 89! Brilliant to see it again

  • I remember this too and have been wanting to see it again for years. I went seeing Ghostbusters 2 in cinemas a few weeks after. I was 6 at the time but remember it well.

  • YEAH THIS IS KOOL!!! love the real ghostbusters''

  • Is this an extra from the DVD set for the series, please? Thanks.

  • no it isnt read the video description instead of spaming

  • when/where was this aired? Was this on television at some point?

  • It aired on American television from 1986 to 1990 I think.

  • It had aired on ABC from 1986-88 and then in syndication from 1988-90. I may be wrong, though.

  • That sounds more accurate.

  • 1986 to 1991

  • It ran that long on Saturday mornings?

  • yeah the real ghostbusters ran from 1986 to 1990 then it turned into slimer and the real ghostbusters from 1990 to 1991

  • It was aired on British TV - Hence Rolf Harris doin introduction

  • i thought rolf was australian?

  • He is - But he has been a main stay of Brit TV for like 40 years...or summin like that

  • Thanks for putting this up. I am a fan of The Real Ghostbusters.

  • i wish i could back to the days when the ghostbusters ruled the world!

  • theworldisourssnooch in some instances they still do

  • I always thought the movies were based on the cartoons.

  • 1984."Ghostbusters"

    1986."The Real Ghostbusters"

    1989."Ghostbusters 2"

  • I stand corrected. Atleast I know now. Thanks. I like the cartoons and the movies equally. Can't wait for the Ghostbusters game for PS3 coming in October.

  • Thanks a billion for putting this up. I remember I used to have this on tape at the time and could never track it down. :)

  • i love Dan aykroyd!! i thank so much for ghostbusters!!!

  • I remember, after the show, they gave out an address to get details on a longer VHS version of the documentary for £9.99. The 11 yr old me mailed off and am still waiting!

  • LOL he was the natural choice as 'Real Ghostbusters' was an animation shown on CITV from 1988, & in 89 when the second film hit the cinema, Rolf presented another CITV ratings-winner, 'Rolf's Cartoon Club'.

  • Well...yeah. Look...nothing personal here, but why that guy? Why not someone like Weird Al Yankovic, or Levar Burton from Reading Rainbow, or Marc Summers and Fred Newman from Nickelodeon to do this instead of some outsider from England? Ghostbusters is a US show, not a UK one. That makes no sense to me.

  • Oh I gotchya Rodimus, it was made in the UK promoting the autumn release of Ghostbuster II here (I think it was out in June in the states) & also the animation in the children's ITV cartoon. Rolf Harris had presented a kids' cartoon show for yeears by then, and HIS new show was specifically about MAKING animation, hence this. It's a British programme. xx

  • Rolf harris a presenter for a ghostbusters documentary? WTF?!!! Piss him off out of it!! Talk about trying to put a square peg in a round hole!!

  • Brilliant Rolf Harris is the perfect presenter for this special! (after his cartoon club) Ghostbusters II joined BTTF II, Last Crusade & BATMAN, for was a real blockbuster year!

  • Top class.Brings back memories.

  • a treat to see Len Jansen and Chuck Menville talk about story-editing! they're both geniuses and Len is one of my biggest inspirations in writing. Thanks for sharing! never saw this before

  • The Real Ghostbusters was in a league of its own back in 1986, Ghostbusters rules!

  • if i remember corectly Slimer got his own comic book

  • yes, and I think both the later seasons (and comics) were renamed 'Slimer and the Real Ghostbusters' due to his popularity among fans.

  • This is old school style of making the real ghostbusters.

  • lol at 5:02

  • Goddammit this Cartoon kicked and still kicks ass!

  • thanks for sharing i remember watching this as a kid on CITV when i was little, i got a real kick out of seeing this again.
