I agree. If more so called musicians experimented with different instruments, there wouldn't be so many complaints about how all music sounds the same nowadays.

There's hardly any bands nowadays that don't have the cliche acoustic/electric+drums+bass.

Even some mainstream bands like Linkin Park are finally catching on though. They use some Japanese flutes in a few of their songs. It's a step in the right direction. :P

Hey man, don't forget Incubus. Didgeridoo on Redefine, pipa in Aqueous Transmissions, sitar in Nowhere Fast. Tool as well. They have a few songs with tabla in them.

That riff is great, you could apply that to something like what U.N.K.L.E produce or else i could see this working in a progressive house/breaks context, along the lines of say Hybrid.
