last thing you want is to shoot the burglar invading your home, and have the round go through him, and your walls, to kill your neighbor sitting on his porch. The .40 can address that issue through reduced velocity on a heavier load. This is another reason I'm struggling between the extra rounds a S&W .40 platform would provide over the extra 5 hundredths of an inch and few dozen extra grains of weight a .45 auto would offer...
Well, I kind of based my decision on the FBI and other LEO's choice for the .40 caliber round. As far as home defense, I think training is the most important thing to consider. Basic firearm safety, cqb training, shooting from awkward positions, gun-fighting, etc.
@L8Bloomers yeah I can see where the .40 would improve where a 9mm might lax, though the two seem pretty close to eachother in terms of hydrostatic shock when hollow points come into play. As for FMJ's I would probably choose the .40 as well, as it moves markedly slower with some loads , where the lower end 9mm loads meet the .40 hot laods. The reason I say that relates to over penetration, reduced shock DUE TO over penetration, and the fear that a round would exit the wall in a fire fight.
@GodlessMartyr666 True, but at the end shoot placement is more important. Also training with your preferred self defense weapon will avoid shooting through walls, but help you to hit your target.
close as hell but I guess theres no point tryin to go for range out past 50 metres with a 4 inch barrel
How are the groupings between 40-60 metres? I ask as I've heard mixed reviews on S&W .40 ranging from "too innacurate, all the way to police officers complaining about fears related to inadequate stopping power on a heavier target, armored or otherwise.
I'm struggling to decide whether It's worth having a few extra rounds per mag with a .40 over heavier calibre with a .45
LMAO oh wow i cant even get mad at this cuz youve never shot with me b4......homie ive been into guns all my life ive shot more guns than you even know about so dont tell me how i perform with a weapon....nigga sit yo ass down somewhere wit dat shit

Nice, can you feel a difference in recoil with the compensated bbl?
NIKON777 1 year ago
@NIKON777
Yeah, felt recoil is reduced somewhat. I think it's most noticeable in double taps/controlled pairs.

@L8Bloomers Thanks bro, debating the 23. Come check out my channel sometimes.

in consideration for home defense I think the bigger, heavier, slower round is likely a better choice, but I can't settle on a decision. any advice?

How does the kick and visibility differ from the regular Glock 23?
PocketDrummer 2 years ago
Kick is reduced somewhat. Visibility is fine with the dual ports.

good video bro, check out some of mine. That 40 still looks like it has a fair amount of kick to it even with the compensated barrel.

Thats the compensator version, Correct? It doesn't look like it helps. Does it?
stp354 3 years ago
It helps the recoil of the .40 caliber a bit. The noticeable help is when shooting double tap shots. (0:44-0:48)
