  • When Stephens bass notes at the end came in... Ooh all the hairs on my arms stood up.. MAGNIFICENT Kings singers... WOW :0)x

  • For some reason, i find myself thinking what if an alien civilization got this exact video in a transmission. What would they think???

  • hey this is beautiful, what voices!!!!

  • I want then to sing psalms 54 from jS Bach, they're so good at singing bach

  • mgray401 if you go to jwpepper.com you can find the music there.

  • The king singers are the best!

  • where could i find this music?

  • Stephen sings really low~ how could he make it ?!

  • Wicked!

  • i don't know what the hell jibber jabber language this is in, but it sure sounds fricken awesome!

  • @creamyfilling102 Hebrew ?

  • @bierebremier It's Estonian

  • @davidhackston Thank you.

  • 2:32 - low

    2:35 - lower

    2:37 - friiiiiiiick

  • Are they singing in a different language?... Beautiful!

  • @Rickygphotos I read somewhere that is was Estonian...

  • I can feel Stephen Connolly's bass part rumble through my body!

  • Lyrics (in estonian) Päeval ei pea päikene sind vaevama, ega öösel kuu. Ma tõstan oma silmad üles mägede poole, kust minu abi tuleb. Mu abi tuleb Jehoova käest, Kes kõik on teinud, kõik taeva, maa on teinud. Jehoova on, kes hoiab Sind, Jehoova on su vari, sinu paremal käel. Päeval ei pea päikene sind vaevama, ega öösel kuu.
  • @mihkeloja2 - Nii tore on seda kuulda eestikeeles. Nice to hear it in the Estonian language. There's a Super Moon tonight and I thought of Psalm 121. Beautiful singing of a timely Psalm.

  • I'm a baritone and I can hit the G at the top of the treble clef staff. I used to be able to go higher, but then my voice changed. XP Now I can only hit a high A if I have a cold.

  • @immelio

falsetto is lovely, isn't it ='P

surprisingly, baritones and basses are often much clearer and stronger in their falsetto ranges than tenors are =)

  • Can't wait to see these guys again tonight...it's been 5 years and a couple Singers have changed :)

  • Something very interresting, to illustrate the applauding at the end, they use the same pictures as Masterpiece ( I comparend few pictures, people are exactly in the same position, their face show the same happiness, people put hands up at the same time ...) for example here at 2:58 and Masterpiece at 12:32

  • @mouthmouse that is really funny! cause the happy happy kind of applause from Masterpiece doesnt AT ALL work in this context! haha!

  • @mouthmouse Brilliant point. Especially that chap with the grey beard is ecstatic all over again!

  • I must admit, while I find the King's Singers a tad arrogant both on stage and real life, I really enjoy this piece by them because that doesn't come across. Shoot me if you must, but I am a great fan of Chanticleer AND you guys. Chanticleer's countertenors could could use a lesson or two from yours though.

  • The voice as an instrument in its pure form. Bravo!

  • I can hit a C( I sung it few time in choir and solo workshops) but not as powerful as a D or an E! I'm not discouraged! For the A I can hit only when I'm very calm, concentrated and helped by a keyboard.

  • I know it's difficult to do it the lower you go, but man go a little finer on the bass in the beginning. Make it a little lighter and inviting.

  • LOL look at the guy at 2:58 with the hugest smile and excited clapping.

  • I confirm last five notes: E D C D E (unfortunatly not a B because I can't sing a B while I can exit a sound for a C)

  • This group is so... versatile!!!

  • the audience at 2:58 is very special

  • classical range for a REAL bass and not a bass/bari!

  • @mouthmouse He's a contrabasso, so if you can't hit a C, do not be discouraged. If you can get to Eb or D with consistent resonance and can make a few dynamic levels, you are a bass. If you can hit A, you are a double bass and belong in Russia.

  • @Icyveins906 HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! good one!!!

  • @Kindineinar what's so funny? A good bass can get to C. A contrabass (a rare talent) can get to A. Most A singers are either black or Russian. It's true. That's why it's nicknamed the Russian A1.

  • 1:24. Kill town.

  • Spell binding.

  • FANTASTIC!!!!

  • The Bass Is TERRIFYING!!!

    Amazing

  • ese bajo me la pela en notas graves

  • @trekid54409

That's Estonian, if I'm not mistaken. Cyrillus Kreek, from Estonia, did his series of Psalms with a distinct Estonian folk bend.

  • what language is this in? doesn't sound like latin... hmm..

  • Awesome.

  • BEAUTYFUL!

  • Es toda una fiesta escuchar a los Kings Singers.

  • Things started to levitate around 2:35

  • My God!!...it's amazing!!!!!!!!!

  • It's things like this that make me wish I was a bass. My God, a low C? Unreal. So awesome.

  • @ExplodingWax same thing here, I have a low voice but this? this is just amazing!

  • @ExplodingWax It's not the fact he's singing a low C that's astonishing, it's quality and the volume at which he sings it. Just amazing. His whole sequence in that small bit is just amazing.

  • @willowpuff You are absolutely right, there was just so much abject praise I could put into one comment. :)

  • @ExplodingWax Actually I think the last note is an Eb and the lowest note is B.

  • @comredflt Apologies, but it is most certainly a C Natural. Perfect pitch and tuned with a piano. :)

  • wow some bass

  • I have to correct you, tadevokle, they TRY to sing in estonian. ;)

  • Los amo. Son la gloria de la musica vocal.

  • The vocal is absolutely great, but they could work more hard with language. The singing is not just about notes. I am estonian, but I hardly understand their singing.

  • that might have something to do with them singing in hebrew and not in english :)

  • Es increíblemente perfecto... me deja sin aliento.

  • LOVE EACH OTHER. GOD BLESS WE. AMEN.

  • ::O <3 <3 <3 this is amazing!

  • mpff, I totally agree. And when you even consider that this isn't his lowest range, just wonderfull. I saw and met them last september in Arnhem, Holland for the first time. Next year January i'll be enjoying them again in Enschede. Can't wait to hear them... (lack of patience, but can you blame me??)

  • very creepy smile from the second countertenor 3:01

  • i think they should rename this song......

The Best of Stephen Connolly... he is simply amazing in this song

  • I totally agree... the undertone depth in this song is RIDICULOUSLY good!

  • I was at a concert of them in Helmond last sunday... The new countertenor is even better than this one! His voice is so enchanting. Most magical concert I've ever been to!

  • Impressive.

  • sorry for my ignorance, but do you have the names of all six of them? And the way they are arranged soprano 1st and 2nd, alto, tenor baritone and bass?

  • David Hurley (countertenor)

    Timothy Wayne-Wright (countertenor)

    Paul Phoenix (tenor)

    Philip Lawson (baritone)

    Christopher Gabbitas (baritone)

    Stephen Connolly (bass)

  • not here man. the 2nd countertenor is different. this was a year ago.

  • 2nd counter tenor is Robin Blaze

  • Very sorry to disagree with you, but it's most definately not Robin Blaze (who is another fantastic countertenor in his own right!). The 2nd countertenor in this performance is Robin Tyson... and I'm sure you'll agree that he's absolutely BLOODY marvellous! :).

  • yes sorry - you're right, I am mixing up my Robins (easy at Xmas). Tyson was a mate of my brother at King's and Blaze was at the other place.

  • In this arrangement, the second countertenor is none other than Robin Tyson. The rest is correct ;)

  • try watching the first 4 seconds of the video hahahahaha

  • You are correct : )

  • the fact that he's hitting a low C is not a big deal at all, it's the ease and volume at which he does it that makes it wicked impressive

  • @shawnwilsontrpt and resonance!

  • god i wish could hit that low C, i can usually only get Eb or D if im lucky

  • Connolly just amazes me everytime I listen to this.

  • holy shit the bass at 2:31. Stephen Connolly=beast

  • they rule their pronunciation is perfect their sound is perfect. THEY are perfect. end o' story.

  • what are you talking about? their pronunciation is perfect...

  • The extreme low note is a C, and the last note is an E.

  • close. the last note is D#

  • what is that extremely low note he hits near the end??

  • i think it's an E^1...

  • A C i think.

  • I was wondering, could you learn to sing that low? Or is it something genetical...

I would love to learn it. Thougt it would take a lot of time and a teacher to learn it...

  • You can't learn it, it has to do with the thickness and length of your vocal cords.

  • Yes you can. Of course there is a limit, but vocal cords are stressable,

  • its a half/half thing....from your normal singing range you can train yourself to on average sing about 5-6 whole steps lower...but the natural thickness of your vocal chords influence where your natural singing voice...i started singing tenor in highschool because i have a good head voice and sining tenor i could only sing to about a A...but now that im singing baritone i can sing down to a low C

  • You can learn to sing almost as low as you want, but the quality and volume goes down as you extend your lower range. I can get down to about 7 cycles per second, but it is just a crackling sound.

  • What really 'goosebumped' me apart from the whole were the high solo vocals.

  • they have such amazing balance and blending and the friggin bass is so money

  • I love the part after 2:23. And the bass, Stephen Connely... amazing. Good song

  • Daddybass.

  • What's cool is that they're singing in Estonian.

Had to listen to it for a minute or two before I could see it wasn't Latin, : ).

Great notes, but the pronunciation (being a native Estonian) takes away the chance it has of being ethereal for me.

  • Stephen Connolly has one amazing basso voice! His low notes are so full, rich, and resonant. Very inspiring!!!

  • Comment removed

  • they have angelic voices

  • Beautiful, so clear

  • they are perfect....

  • holy shit.. that low bass note at 2:38 is gonna make me poop my pants.

  • It's a "C"!!!...at least is what I listen...

  • it's so pure even way down there.

  • Gosh its a LOW C :)

  • Yeah, no kidding :) I'm a bass/bari so clear falsetto in that range is pretty tough for me!

  • falsetto should actually be easier for bass/bari's. once your voice has developed.

  • Certainly the case for me. Was a bass for 18 years, now a full time counter

  • @cpjds1 haha your not the only one! my choir teacher got a group of us to perform this song and it was so tough!

  • @TheExorsists How in the world did your teacher get this piece? I can't find it anywhere!

  • @cpjds1 , its a traditional style that most modern musicians have a hard time getting into.

  • @cpjds1 I'm also a bass (BII specifically, I have the D below the bass clef staff), but have a clear falsetto up to the G above the treble staff, sometimes the Bb above that, so the two are not mutually exclusive. I hope someday to become a one-man choir.

  • I absolutely love the purity of the countertenors!! I wish my head voice could sound like that.....
