And many of those workers have worked on the island for many years and worked harder than most in order to make a living just like everyone else. My family employs many foreigners with legal work visas for summer jobs and I am sure you would judge them as illegals if given the chance as well. If you do not like what you see on our island you can go back to the LI trashpile where you came from and stay there because we will be just fine without you and your tasteless videos.
Get your facts right before spewing racist, uneducated comments. My family has lived and owned 2 restaurants on FI for over 50 yrs. First, cars have been on FI for numerous decades and only utility, emergency, and year round locals with permits are able to drive cars. All the cars in your video were utility vehicles that we locals need on the island in order to function. Second, how ignorant of you to judge someone as illegal based on the work theyre doing and the color of their skin.
Honestly some of the worst comments i have ever heard in my life, I am a local on FI and there are "rules and regulations" on driving...why dont you call FINS and get the BLUEBOOK...Its people like you that we cringe at the fact that you come and just complain complain complain about things that you have NO IDEA ABOUT!
Utility vehicles need to be over here to FIX UTILITIES! and until a certain point driving for LOCALS is before 9am and after 6pm so get the facts straight before you complain!
I have spent 40 years on FI and as far as I know cars ( with permits) have always been a part of the island...not many but the locals and the trade workers have their vehicles.
Also how do you know that was an illegal worker? Please dont start rumors like that...know your facts before you speak please
@jennkf There's a significant amount of day laborers coming over on the ferry too. Just like many construction businesses, the ones on FI probably hire day laborers too. This the sad reality of the trade industry on LI. Just ask all the Americans that are unemployed because of them.
RESPECT THE LOCALS! Dude if you dont like the trucks and workers on fire island then dont come here, we need to make a living also.. You are criticizing the place i was born raised and still currently living... not cool
@PinePowerLI Lets just try to respect the locals, respect us and we will show you respect back, remember its are home, i dont think you would appreciate it if people were criticizing where you live. " there are trucks in the summer" considerably less because residents are not able to drive in the summer. I Have seen " summer people" slam there fists on the windows of driving by school buses just because they do not like the fact of cars on fire island Your going to have to get over it.
learn to respect the locals and the work that is going on there (for example the power company and all the "illegal immigrant workers") and not bad mouth everything thats going on to keep it well kept to satisfy people like YOU and all the "rich people" and not have to hear you bitch about it all the time. i lived there for my whole life and my father runs one of the most respectful house maintenance businesses on the island and it makes me sick to see people criticize the island like you do.
Very cool! You should do one of these in Ocean Ridge/Davis Park FI, there are VERY few cars there and it's a very different enviornment. Bikes aren't allowed and there are only white-paint-paved boardwalks.
Really beautiful. I couldn't imagine living among all that as if living in a preserve. Must be so relaxing to live in a place like that. I agree, you are like a pitchman for Long Island. It's a great way to show us what is around, because most of us don't find all of these wonderful places on our own. So please keep doing these videos showing us every place you can get to. These videos are very valuable in my opinion.
Love Fire Island, Only been there a few times to stay with family friends though. Although I think you are being slightly racist calling all the immigrant workers on the island illegals, I know some of them are illegals working in construction and landscaping on F I but not all of them are, a very big generalization!

@bencsurf I know there's always been some trucks on FI but it's increased alot in recent years. When is it gonna be too much?

@berri503 Yes Ocean Ridge is out there, I was there once, the island is very narrow at that point. Long walk though...

Yeah I'm sorry, it is just so common that they use illegals. Not all, but most use 'em.

What a cool place. Those paths and boardwalks are really cool, except when a truck comes through!
Great video. Thanks.
