As for who Bradley Manning is, per Wikipedia: "Bradley E. Manning (born December 17, 1987) is a United States Army soldier who was arrested in May 2010 in Iraq on suspicion of having passed restricted material to the website WikiLeaks."

@midshippie87 Bradley Manning attempted to follow those procedures for service men you mention and he was stopped cold. How do you like the recent photo opts of soldiers posing with dead bodies that they have stripped and taking fingers for trophys. Ya, you'll say you disapprove, but if you were in Iraq or Afghanistan you must have seen the atrocities. To defend them is treason.

@shevykat yes, im sure Bradley Manning followed all the procedures when he posted classified SIPRNET documents to the public. I am sure he also followed procedures when he was disciplined for assaulting a follow soldier. He clearly was a basket case with a troubled past who could not adjust and was trying to use this as a way to make his worthlessness mean something. As for other war crimes, those involved are being investigated and prosecuted, but that does not mean they happen often.

WHOEVER does not think that manning didnt commit treason is beyond wrong. War is war and when there is war there will be civilian casulities in the host nation. look at the history books. attack on pearl harbor had 57 civilians killed. if we didnt get sadam out of power he would have killed more than the rediculas amount he already had, and lets not forget the al-Qaeda who incase you forgot killed nearly 3000. but you know what. you go ahead and hang out there with Code Pink while they hold

@sabadila1 The most amazing part is that everyone goes around saying he exposed some sort of 'amazing truth'. What truth is he exposing? The fact that the United States has inadvertently killed civilians in the war? How is that being exposed? Its war, mistakes are made, innocent people are hurt, yet thousands more would be oppressed or hurt if we weren't there. Why don't you read some books about it, or better yet join the peace corps or red cross.

The US has no problem justifying dictators under the Guides America could be in danger, America causes the danger with the need to control everyone else. I am a volunteer fire fighter, I am a U.S. Marine, I love my country, and I have made a difference. Can you same the same in your life? No you cannot because you don't educate yourself, don't help those in need, and will never matter and thus are very sad.

@midshippie87 haha you're making so many personal assumptions about me that aren't true. I wouldn't expect you to know that I volunteer regularly at an organization that feeds the homeless. I also have worked with organizations that mentor uneducated and troubled youth so they can be leaders and lead successful lives. I educate myself on the wrongdoings of our government. I go to school to study International Development and am going into a global health and development field.

I only disagree with you by saying that calling Manning a treasonous criminal is ridiculous. All he did was let the general population know that our government is not transparent and had no intentions on letting the public know the truth about their intentions. If you were in DC, the local anti-war groups in DC actually chartered a bus from DC so people could go, because Quantico is really in the middle of nowhere in southern Prince William County. If you're in the DC area and not on the dawn-dc mailing list, you need to be, because that's where I get most of my information about these things.
