This just blew me away Welch has a truley wonderful voice and the harmonies were so well blended. I dont know why each one of these perfomers arent signed to lost highway records and living life at the top of the ladder. Still cant put them above the Band the songs the same but the music is apples and oranges. loved it.

This version is lacking something. I think a big part of the original was the drum beat that drove the song. Deep and powerful beat.

I saw Old Crow, Gillian and David perform this at Hardly, Strictly Bluegrass Festival in 2009 and it did indeed give me chills...(it's as good as any of the dozen or so times I saw the Band perform it over the years). It's so great to have this video to relive their performance.

What a great cover-Gillian is great on this. Great post. There is no way anyone can dislike this version if they like the original. No auto tune or manufactured sounds just strings from wooden instruments and some great voices. Would love to see Alison Krauss do this song-anything she sings is like a thing of beauty. I have to listen to Gillian a little more a I really like her sound.
