  • This was one of the songs played endlessly on the radio when I was a kid, and as a result it is imprinted indelibly on my memory. A wonderfully whimsical, dreamy tune!

  • Aaaagh, The Small Faces: I suppose Jarvis is closest now, and the Divine Comedy of course. there's more than a touch of the SF in Madness I suppose, but where's the wit gone; why's it all so worthy or so trashy?!

  • rinky dinky do

  • @1michael71 hahahahaha are you an elf?

  • "Gor Blimey" ? "Doin me crust in" ? I'm trying to learn this on guitar and was curious what these phrases meant. also Is it "so sing in your potty while you sass out the moon"?

  • @DrHogfan cor blimey means oh heck.Crust means head and they actually sing .sing in the khazzi which is a toilet and suss out the moon. which means look at the moon cheers dave in england.

  • @bluearmy1100 WHEN YOUR ENGLISH, AND A LONDONER, OR A SOUTHENER, THAT IS JUST SOOOO FUNNY. RESPECT. J ALSO IN ENGLAND

  • "Gor Blimey" ? "Doin me crust in" ? I'm trying to learn this on guitar and was curious what these phrases meant.

  • Sunday here in New Zealand in the 60's was the bestest day to have a few drinks or whatever. This song so reminds me of that warm happy feeling after a hard Saturday night, along with the Kinks Sunny Afternoon. Two of the greatest bands ever

  • great song! The woman in the video is funny... Haha! :)

  • 5 people are having an active saturday morning

  • Great song

  • I love this song, dont like to hear that its what frustrated Marriotte to leave. I love that guy and his voice was awesome! I just love this band

  • Just heard this song for the first time today..fucking genious WOW The Beatles WISHED they wrote this song

  • awesome song !

  • What is it about songs with this theme? They're all brilliant!

(Lazing on a) Sunny Afternoon by the Kinks

Lazy Sunday Afternoon by the Small Faces

Lazing on a Sunday Afternoon by Queen

Any more I'm missing? Also, amazing voice and musical ability aside, Steve Marriott was a really pretty looking dude.

  • This video is soooo.. Genius xD

  • You guys are so adorable- I just love this fun song mates ! xoxo

  • and after have heard this song for the first time... I suddently started loving cockney accent :)

  • small faces and the old vid fab ..

  • Rod Stewart's voice sounds brilliant in this song. I really like Ronnie Wood's guitar strumming as well. Brilliant!!

  • @dwm1979

There weren't Stewart and Wood in Small Faces. It's Steve Marriott, and yes his voice was brilliant and he was a pretty underrated guitarist as well.

  • @dwm1979 The fuck are you talking about?!? Rod Stewart?!? Ron Wood? This is The Small Faces.

  • @Khultan

He's thinking of 'The Faces'. But yeah, to mistake Marriott's voice is pretty much heresy.

  • i luurrrvvveee this song

  • I honestly think they should have put the deleted scene into Pirate Radio with this song in it, It would have made the movie way more BA!

  • @climbatreeandpaintit in the Italian edition of Pirate Radio (that came out as "I Love Radio Rock") the part with Lazy Sunday wasn't deleted! great!

  • Pirate Radio deleted scenes anyone?

  • Awsome, reminds me of playing pub footy on some swamp of a rec in the late 60s..very "Groovy"

  • this song is awesome, pop music at its best! Lady Gaga has nothing on this :-))

  • what album is this from

  • @phillmcgrath ..Odgens nut gone flake..the original is a collectors item because of the circular cover,

  • @wanturbadromancexx thanks didnt mean to vote you down.

  • I like The Libertines's cover :)

  • You left us with the memory of that slammin voice!

  • Awesome

  • i first herd this song on the boat that rocked

  • i wonder where the white stripes got their concept for "the hardest button to button"...

  • which is the best, then?

  • @MrLuigi11 TIN SOLDIER!

  • Will this be playing in the Queen Vic anytime before the fire? I'm sure Peggy Mitchew was a fan of Steve Marriott in her younger days and it can't be any more antique than Fiw's Who-based music collection.

  • R.I.P. Ronnie Lane

  • I want that coat

  • is that dot cotten on there??????

  • Fantastic song! I love it so much for years!Actually I think UK music is the best!

  • This video cost about 10 pounds to make and is cool as hell, today a Lady GaGa vid costs about 10 billion and sux!

  • @flashingarrows52 According to Wikipedia it was the neighbour of Marriot's parent who acted as the angry woman that tried to strangle him. .. and yes. The video cannot have costed much more than £10.

  • @hrc1966 No, she was a neighbour of Kenney Jones who was still living with Mum and Dad at the time. It was filmed at their home.

  • @flashingarrows52 - 10 pounds or whatever - this footage is priceless, and should be recognised as such: this band produced a feast of gems and never got the reward they deserved. So if you like what you hear, go buy it, you never know, the band may actually benefit..... yeh but don't hold your breath........

  • @hambuns

Got it in one mate,If the promo cost 10 bob Steve would still have given the director more than His money's worth.

  • @flashingarrows52 ANYTHING by Lady CaCa sux!

    BMP

  • @flashingarrows52

    7.95 in hats

  • @flashingarrows52 Why? Don't see any reasons to compare them.

  • @GoodGuitarSolos Look harder and you may possibly see the reasons to compare them. How about the fact that they are both music videos?

  • @skylinedleeds Yes, so what? What is the need to compare? Gaga's videos are great, so is this one.

  • @GoodGuitarSolos Feel free to express your opinions, but don't expect everyone to agree with them or wonder why some people feel the need to draw comparisons.

  • @skylinedleeds Everyone is allowed to have an opinion (as long as it isn't denying a fact) but I've never understood the need to compare an artist to some artist that the one who compares doesn't like. Music is not a competition.

  • @GoodGuitarSolos To an extent I agree with your statement however I think you are missing the fact that the person above was comparing the VIDEO and not the music. His point being that for the money spent on a Lady Gaga video the end result is lacking somewhat if compared with a video created with more thought and much less money spent upon it, an opinion I happen to agree with.

  • @skylinedleeds I see your point. I can't say that I agree with him but each to their own, I guess.

  • @GoodGuitarSolos there are some facts :) that are widely accepted opinions. the concept of fact is not as solid that an opinion can be considered less =\

also :P music kind of has turned into a competition, as to wether thats from the perspective of the artist or the pseudoindividual competitive nature we all live in there days.. =\ which, in my opinion, is a sad case indeed.

  • @OleNieling Yes, the competition is damn sad. I mean, every bands gets comparisons and I find it extremely annoying. All these Metallica vs. Megadeth, Guns N' Roses vs. Nirvana, Led Zeppelin vs. The Who etc. fights are just damn silly. Music can be enjoyed in all forms.

  • @GoodGuitarSolos its because people can't accept that their mere fondness of music is enough.. They need everyone else to agree to actually be satisfied with it.. and then the band is to mainstream because everybody likes them and its not good either..

If you ask me, I compare bands with each other also but never in a better/worse manner until people started doing it to me and told me I had to defend my icons.. honestly.. even then I still don't do it.. they can go suck a sock

  • @OleNieling Well said.

  • @GoodGuitarSolos What?

  • @MrJameswilde Yes?

  • @GoodGuitarSolos Of course it's a competition. Everything is a competition. And many 'facts' are simply widely held opinions.

  • @schragemusik That's just fallacious thinking.

  • @GoodGuitarSolos HAving traipsed about this planet for nearly 60 years, with over 45 of those being involved with bands and musicians, I think I've seen enough to recognise what competition (in its many subtle forms) is.

  • @schragemusik I never denied that. I'm only saying that competition is not necessary for music to be good.

  • @GoodGuitarSolos Ah! In that case, I ENTIRELY agree with you. :)

  • God I love music videos where you can see the band had a great time filming them.

  • Apparently this was filmed on the 1st April 1968 - Plonk's 22nd birthday. It was filmed at Kenney's parents house in Stepney.

  • This song appeared to be "non-sensical", silly, whatever, but I think it is a masterpiece in the anals of psychedelia. Sure, the lyrics were "out in left field", but this was psychedelic music!! That's was part of the attraction. Does the Beatles "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds" make much sense either? As long as you don't start taking the songs too seriously, they can actually be fun to run with while are listening to them. They start sounding even better after a few Heinekens!!

  • @endtimescyp

LOL!! I assume you mean "annals"...but I much prefer the 'anals of psychedelia

  • Grande!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • One of my all time favorites.

  • Great song, love it.

  • Completely agree with evilvampirekid. Amazing in The Boat That Rocked. A Whiter Shade Of Pale also really good in that movie!

  • I don't think this is one of their better songs to be honest.

A lot more poppy than a lot of their stuff. I can personally understand feeling regret after making this and having it be on the top of the charts.

I mean, even today Green Circles has like 70 views on Youtube while this has 78k. That is not right.

  • @RedBalls101 That's because lots of people enjoy this more. Simple. It is not a best or worst, it's simply down to opinion. This certain is not my favourite song that Steve wrote but people are entitled to enjoy it more than the ones I enjoy.

  • @RedBalls101 That's not quite right. That's a misleading belief held.

  • They BANG on MY wall...Lazy Sunday Afternoon!!!

  • skill song

  • BEST SONG EVER

  • this song was so great in the boat that rocked, it made the whole stag scene (:

  • I always thought the lyrics went::-

"They stop me from groovin', they bang on me wall.", and then a shout of "Bastards. Turn it down." in the background.

Have a listen and tell me if I'm mistaken

  • lol tune !!

  • Check out the guitar solo on our version of All or Nothing

  • that just remindes me about chas

  • They always had such upbeat, catchy tunes! Loved them until the broke up and Steve sang for Humble Pie. Another great group!

  • Today!

  • Makes Me Wanna Do An Oliveer Kick :)

  • Very nice song

  • love this song in the boat that rocked :D

  • @TwilightPicksie :D yerr.

  • cunts like you should be buried with the shit music of your day.....now leave good music alone and go rape a granny or steal from retards.its what you morons seem to do best!.you wanking fucking braindeads You really have no place in the world. Good times ended when you were born....now fuck off and jump off a cliff

  • ...they've got no room for ravers lol

  • i love lazy sunday afternoon`s..

  • Steve Marriott is pretty like a girl lol! he's got an amazing voice, 'Black Coffee' is out of this world.

  • @MaMort Stweve Marriott was a bonny lad...........R.I.P Steve

  • Okay, although Marriot is an East Ender, the Cockney accent is heavily put on. Marriot copped flack from the Hollies who said he sounded too proper when he sang....hence the very obvious change in accents in the last chorus, back to his usual

  • I'll never understand why The Small Faces regretted making this song and said it stopped people taking them seriously! It's pure genius!

The Beatles sang about living in a yellow submarine for God sake! And this is a far superior piece of music than that nonsense! RIP Steve.

  • ToMahocky. Good comment on both counts.

    This song is brilliant.

  • @Mahocky Spot on mate...the most underrated band in history...just my opinion tho.

  • This song would have been perfect for Herman's Hermits - it;s much more their kind of song, but it's still one of my "happy songs".
