  • @foolsgoldtwenty his head stock isn't bound, the back of the head stock along with sides are painted the colour of the guitar, in this case white, all you're seeing is the paint. its obvious what i mean if you look at the white neck picture - gibson.com/Products/Electric-Guitars/SG/Epiphone/Ltd-Ed-50th-Anniversary-1961-SG-Special/Specs.aspx

  • bluegrasss junk? Thats funny i just read not to long ago that vintage guitar collectors prefer the Epiphone 1961 reissue over the Gibson reissues so i suggest next time you do alot of internet research befor you call any Epiphone junk.

  • I notice that there's no Tune-o-matic on this,Id imagine you'd need the perfect set-up on it.

It also looks like it's a slightly smaller scale, though mibi its just the camera angle...nice though, looks fun.

  • junk

  • Norahjasper there's many professional guitarist that claim the 2010 model Epiphone G400. Standard 62 Sg is the best standard Sg out there today. Me personally I tried the 2010 Epiphone model in 2010 when I was in the market on buying a Sg. It was between the Epiphone and Gibson. I played both for 30 minutes and at the end the choice was very clear to me Epiphone with out any doubt. The same with the Epiphone 1961 reissue.

  • Is it me, or do the pickups seem pretty close together?

  • Why would you even think of replaci.ng the P-90's replacing the P-90's would not be a upgrade of any kind you will destroy any future value of the guitar. And mark my words this guitar will go up in price as it gets older. Its already at least $450 underpriced thats not even agruble.

  • The other day I compared this to the other Epiphone SG's and ended up buying this. Its a really nice guitar, blows away every other Epi other than Elite/Elitist Epi's I've ever tried. Nice guitar, looks like Sapele not Mahogany but its got a nice acoustic tone regardless. I will probably upgrade the pickups and caps, but the tuners, bridge, nut and pots are all good enough to leave on. The 61 Epi LE is a real nice SG for under $400 and a good sign of what Epiphone is becoming capable of. Kudos

  • Hmm what's going on here?.. why does your Epi '61 have an edgebound headstock yet the 3 I just received don't..Are you demoing a custom shop/hybrid or pre-production model? That's not very fair to the paying customer!!. I bought one as I saw your video and thought the headstock looked great but the production models I have (from a genuine Epi retailer) DONT- appreciate your reply....

  • When top luthier Michael Voltzs left Gibson and joined Epiphone in 2001 his only goal was to make Epiphone once again a great guitar company. And today he has most certainly done that and more. It's also because of Michael Voltzs that the G-400 standard 62 Sg and now the limited edition 50th Anniversary 1961 Sg Reissue and many more great Epiphone guitars are The very best in top Professional quality and every bit Gibsons equal And better. So again thank you Mike Voltzs for making Epiphone great

  • Like I have said in the past today's Epiphones are the very best in top quality there most certainly for the professional guitarist there only down fall is that there way under priced for the top quality they deliver today.

  • I have to admit this SG sounds pretty good but generally Epi's are let down by their weak pickups and to say Epiphone should "get away from Gibson" is stupid.Do you not know that Gibson OWN Epiphone?

  • I have a 2010 Epiphone G-400 Standard 62 sg and (2) 2011 Epiphone Limited Edition 50th Anniversary 1961 Reissue sg's. Wether im Recording or playing live i will NEVER use any thing else but my Epiphone sg's. And i would NEVER choose a Gibson over Epiphone

  • So shiny...o_O

  • Epiphone i agree you do make the best SG's and Les Pauls on the planet. GIBSON IS NOTHING MORE THAN A BAD JOKE AT BEST! and maybe you should get away from Gibson they have always been bad news. And there guitars are not worth it.

  • Part-2 you put out. Gibsons future looks grim and yours look very brite. Us Epiphone players feel that Gibson could drag you down with them and we do not want that to happen. We have Real passion for EPI. Gibson has screwed themselfs

  • Epiphone you dont need to post this. Iwould like say that my self and many others would like to see you get the hell away from Gibson. To are to great of a guitar company to be with liares and crooks. Your guitars a way under priced for the quality

  • They stated that Epiphone guitars are some of the best crafted guitars in the world and that its a shame that Epiphone guitars are so UNDER PRICED for the top pro quality guitars you craft. Some pro musicians call you the new Gibson but better.

  • every official channel should be like this!

  • Epiphone should be very proud of there very limited 50th anniversary 1961 sg. 2 of them have already sold on EBAY Tv yellow 1961 $810. Heritage cherry 1961 $825. Epiphone you are now the sg and lp kings.

  • Nickpatient its not 1 year. Its until there gone and theres no reorders and i can tell you out of many days o research that there was only 4,000 made and here in the USA they are just about gone a lot of vintage collectors are also buying them up.

  • Gibson USA. how is it that Epiphone for the past 2 years that i know have kick your ass's first with there 2010 model Epiphone G-400 standard 1962 SG. And now there Epiphone limited edition 50th anniversary 1961 SG. Gibson explain why with out the shit

  • the epiphone 2010 model g-400 standard 1962 sg and the 50th anniversary sg are simply brilliant sg's. pro quality all the way through. craftmanship is A+ electronics are all high quality. simply brilliant! they most certainly compete with any gibson standard sg. thats a fact.

  • I want a yellow one. Is it 1 year only? :D Better get a paper route or some shit.

  • which songs are him playing? specially at 2:15

  • Guitar center lists it at $400 each. The Gibson one is double that price.

  • Just one question. Is this made in the US or China? It doesn't really matter, as long as the quality doesn't suffer, but I'm curious.

  • @thewizardofaz

epiphone... so i would say some Asian country. but, not necessarily china...

  • excuseme... price of this guitar?

  • @MrVoLkOvA $399.99

  • @OfficialEpiphone I love when you guys bring back old guitars like this. You should do a clone of the SG X it is one of my favorite SGs

  • i cant wait to get mine in tv yellow! \m/

  • Has a wonky 'Spirit in the sky' vibe that is really cool..especially that lead-in riff. Great sounding guitar!

  • It's the sunglasses....without them who knows what happens to the tone?

  • love the who !

  • The g-400 62sg is much better a lot of pro guitarist preferd it over the gibson stamdard sg last year.

  • any chance they could have used chrome screws in the tailpiece instead of the black ones?

  • great sound!!

  • Man that sounds great!!! It's got that sound with the slide..... very familiar!

  • I want this so bad! haha! Hope i can afford :D
