I agree with what GHAMDI said about the sanctity of Institution of Marriage. This instituion enjoys protection through Universal natural laws and violation of these laws will create anarchy as well as imbalance in family relations.

This system also explains why a man can have more than 1 wife, and a wife cannot have more than one husband where husband serves as the head of institution.
