actually, i think i read somewhere that clamp said the actual spelling is Fay... but i always saw it spelled as Fai in the manga.

Fay is the Spanish spelling. "ay" makes the "eye" sound. Thus Fai or Fye is more acurate depending on your translator.

Not officially. If you know CLAMP, you know what  I mean. The fangirls want them to be gay (and draw tons of doujinshi/ write fanfiction about it), but CLAMP does not make it official. But they're soulmates, indeed.

also, in one of the horitsuba omakes, they were making a cake and sakura got syaoran to taste it, and syaoron seemed to be trying to get them together while talking to fai, then in the very last panel, it showed yuuko and yuui outside the classroom door, looking as if they were going to throw kurogane onto fai! if that isnt proof of kurofai, i dunno what is XP

Tomoyo-hime took Kurogane out of a very difficult situation after he had suffered a huge tragedy. Of course she means something to him. But Kurogane has not sacrificed blood, limbs, or independence for her, as he has done for Fay. Tomoyo herself said that Fay is important to Kurogane, and that he learned the meaning of 'true strength' by saving him. Besides that, she's a lesbian, so she wouldn't be interested in him anyway.

If you've read/watched Cardcaptor Sakura then you should already know that she was completely in love with Sakura. CLAMP themselves said that Tomoyo's love for Sakura is the most mature, selfless depiction of love they've ever written. And FYI Tomoyo's sister, Kendappa-ou, and her body guard, Souma, are also lesbians, and a couple as well. :)

It is what the creators of the story intended. That's it.
