When asked what my favourite albums of all time are the whole Pixies back catalogue is in there, Come on Pilgrim, Surfer Rosa, Doolittle, Bossanova & Trompe Le Monde, i think that says it all!
first line : "III SMEELLL SOOO BAD cum swallow your dang dickshaft! and your dickshaft! and your dickshaft! and the there was a lot of them, could happen to anyone, it came out like a bullet, and you know i love the fluid"
the Pixies finally came to Australia and i got to see them up close (V-festival) and there has been nothing since that compares, except for The Fireballs (the aussie ones) who just went offfffffffffffffffffffffffff!!
hey everybody, ive been sending people messages telling them about the band and showing them "letter to memphis"... especialy people who listen to shitty music like the jonas brothers. so if everbody could spread the word too that'd be awesome.
If they did I can't remember it. These guys ....damn. I heard them when I was young and basically it...well...they opened up the door for me to search out what punk really was. And they can't even be roughly defined as a "punk" group. But they seemed to truly define it for me.
I never though of them as Punk... but a very good original band that was influenced by Punk and other non-mainstream music. They definately influenced Nirvana.
Frank said that this song was making fun of the punk scene and the punk kids and how ridiculous they are. So I would place them more as Avant-garde rockers, since they are much more appreciated AFTER they disbanded. Maybe their music was ahead of its time, like Echo and the Bunnymen.
whooooooah there.......sonic youth was their own entity entirely....they would have existed come hell or high water. and hole had nothing to do with shit. they would have never existed if kurt cobain would have never written all of their songs.
i have to say Sonic Youth i believe was INSPIRED by the Pixies but Hole wouldnt have existed without Nirvana which wouldnt have existed without the Pixies its really kind of a ripple affect...i think the Pixies kind of unintentionally solidified the NO WAVE movement...
im not sure about the other bands you said but nirvana would have been around kurt was already making songs in 85 before the pixies were together. they might not have been as popular if they didn't use the loud quiet loud sound in teen spirit but nirvana would have gotten together even if the pixies didn't because they were more influenced by bands like the beatles and the melvins.
well you can't say that because we don't know what would have happened. but anyway my main point for replying to your first message was just to say that you were wrong about nirvana getting together because of the pixies.
well the melvins are the band that got kurt into that sort of music and he became good friends with krist through them and then introduced dave to them. so the melvins had a big part of it all.
@dontbleedthadalo They ARE extremely versatile + influential ; if not for the Pixies we wouldn't have Weezer + the power pop scene ; we would not even have Nirvana ! ; one of the most influential rock'n'roll acts of all time !! But their other music is a little less climatic than this ; if you like post-punk refined with country/blues influences then this band is 4 you ! !
that makes no sense...you asked when they would play in America...then you said you would drive 8 million miles across the sun...clearly where they play is not a issue for you.
Pixies rock. They need to comeback and make more albums.I don't know if they could, because Kim went on with better success with the breeders.Oh well maybe 1 of these days.Sniff sniff, sad.

Joe is a awesome guitarist too. Personally, I'm not a fan of Kim. Her bass playing is mediocre and shes fucking annoying, but thats just me. I do like her voice in the songs where she sings.
What? but the voice of Kim is sublime, and the bass is so solid and blunt, so fucking amazing. I respect your opinion but Kim Deal gave to the pixies force and strength with her soft and melodious voice.
Thank you! Man, and I thought that was just me. I had just recently bought a Breeders cd, and have to say that I'm a bit disappointed. I never really understood Kim Deal chasers who hone over every damn little thing she does. Don't get me wrong, I thing she's a really cool individual, but I just don't understand the hype surounding her. BTW I think it sucks that no one pays attention to the lead guy cuz they're all hounding Kim. Francis Black deserves much more credit
