  • Sync that outro to the end of Melancholia, sit back and let your mind roll.

  • the ending is awesome is cool outro

  • There are only two bands who've never made a song I didn't enjoy. The Pixies, and The Mountain Goats.

  • If there was a zombie apocalypse tomorrow, I'd be perfectly happy with a sawed off shotgun, a chainsaw and an iPod full of Pixies' songs.

  • The intro reminds me of "I Hate You Please Die" from Scott Pilgrim

  • When asked what my favourite albums of all time are the whole Pixies back catalogue is in there, Come on Pilgrim, Surfer Rosa, Doolittle, Bossanova & Trompe Le Monde, i think that says it all!

  • @PolePrincess69 forgot the complete B-Sides, that is an album I could not live without

  • 1:20

    YES!!!!

  • no need to listen to metal to hear a singer screaming

  • When I first heard this song I thought Black Francis was singing "David Fincher! David Fincher!"

  • Anybody else hear a cheetah at 0:33?

  • first line : "III SMEELLL SOOO BAD cum swallow your dang dickshaft! and your dickshaft! and your dickshaft! and the there was a lot of them, could happen to anyone, it came out like a bullet, and you know i love the fluid"

  • @RelikaneLiengod

No one asked about the first line of your autobiography.

  • the guitar in the fadeout at the end is so epic.

  • the part around 1:10 wouldnt be nearly as awesome without the beginning of the song

  • This is supposed to be the Pixies at their worst? Wow they're good.

  • Love Pixies.

  • @htownbrown Personally I prefer 0:50 ; THIS PART OF THE SONG WIL PUT THE WORLD TO RIGHTS IF ADOPTED INTO THE RIGHT CONTEXT ! ! !

  • i would deffo bust a nut in kim deals mouth from 1:22 onwards. thank u.

  • love the ending chords

  • and evolving from the sea

would no be too much time for me

to walk beside you in the sun

i read something about a son of a gun

    named extinction.

    I like that,

  • AND EVOLVING FROM THE SEA WOULD NOT BE TOO MUCH TIME FOR ME...

  • @AirForceGirl05 TO WALK BESIDE YOU IN THE SUN

  • I like this – what is he screaming/singing?

  • @ajj4account

He's screeaming a lot of stuff, but it's mostly "named extinction".

It's about the death of punk rock.

  • @ajj4account more shouting (imo) more prevelant in punk. i've only just heard about this band, so i dont know

  • And evolving from the sea,

Would not be too much time for me

To walk beside you in the sun...

  • Por fin en San Diego USA 26 sept 2010!!!!!!!!!!!!Graciassssss Diossss!!!!!

  • damn they look young in that picture with the green background :]

  • God, his voice is so god damn kinky! CX

  • RODA PUNKKKKKKKKK!!!!!!!!!

  • i used to mishear these lyrics before i knew what they were.. i was so positively certain he was screaming "REAGAN'S BEEN SHOT!".

these days i either sing along with the real lyrics, or for fun i just pretend he's screaming "DAVID FINCHER!" and lmao.

  • @maniacafrodisiac david fincher.. :) hehe

  • @maniacafrodisiac haha. when i was a kid i thought deep purple sang "smoke on the water , fire engine guy"

  • I love this song.

My favorite part is the slower "and evolving from the sea, etc.."

I'm about 95% positive that it's about the "extinction" of punk rock.

    Anyone wanna verify this?

  • so many unique different sounds, love it all.

the Pixies finally came to Australia and i got to see them up close (V-festival) and there has been nothing since that compares, except for The Fireballs (the aussie ones) who just went offfffffffffffffffffffffffff!!

  • And you can see it in High Quality too !!!!!

  • love this song, love the pixies

  • hey everybody, ive been sending people messages telling them about the band and showing them "letter to memphis"... especialy people who listen to shitty music like the jonas brothers. so if everbody could spread the word too that'd be awesome.

  • Ahh no way, I don't them douche bag posers listening to this music, they'll ruin it for us and we can't let that happen

  • HAFA74 how dare you even wish such a degrading thing for the pixies to do, play in your backyard, fuck you.

  • Did they ever write a bad song?

  • If they did I can't remember it. These guys ....damn. I heard them when I was young and basically it...well...they opened up the door for me to search out what punk really was. And they can't even be roughly defined as a "punk" group. But they seemed to truly define it for me.

  • I never though of them as Punk... but a very good original band that was influenced by Punk and other non-mainstream music. They definately influenced Nirvana.

  • @HAFA74

I heard that Kurt Cobain say he wrote "Smells Like Teen Spirit" as an attempt to sound like the Pixies. So yeah, they influenced Nirvana quite a bit.

  • This is generally recognised as the alternation of loud and quiet as found in 'Where is my Mind'

  • Frank said that this song was making fun of the punk scene and the punk kids and how ridiculous they are. So I would place them more as Avant-garde rockers, since they are much more appreciated AFTER they disbanded. Maybe their music was ahead of its time, like Echo and the Bunnymen.

  • @brookwoodt I was wondering about this same thing and I think the answer is...no, they have never written a bad song.

  • NO the Pixies are indestructible....they are an unstoppable sonic force to be reckoned with...

the fact they never had a single in the states is ridiculous...Nirvana, Sonic Youth, Hole, Smashing Pumpkins, ect. would not exist

I like them all but the fact remains

  • whooooooah there.......sonic youth was their own entity entirely....they would have existed come hell or high water. and hole had nothing to do with shit. they would have never existed if kurt cobain would have never written all of their songs.

  • i have to say Sonic Youth i believe was INSPIRED by the Pixies but Hole wouldnt have existed without Nirvana which wouldnt have existed without the Pixies its really kind of a ripple affect...i think the Pixies kind of unintentionally solidified the NO WAVE movement...

  • sonic youth was around wayyyy before the pixies.

  • yer not wrong. all music is "just noise" . but the PIXIES are GOOD NOISE!!!

    fucker.

  • the pixies or sonic youth? either way your wrong though...

  • @doggydog56789 whats the right answer?

  • im not sure about the other bands you said but nirvana would have been around kurt was already making songs in 85 before the pixies were together. they might not have been as popular if they didn't use the loud quiet loud sound in teen spirit but nirvana would have gotten together even if the pixies didn't because they were more influenced by bands like the beatles and the melvins.

  • yea but theyve never had Smells like teen spirit as a breakout song and the entire scene around them wouldnt have exploded the way it did...

  • well you can't say that because we don't know what would have happened. but anyway my main point for replying to your first message was just to say that you were wrong about nirvana getting together because of the pixies.

  • oh no i didnt mean thats why they got together if anything i would chalk that to black sabbath or zepplin with a mix of 80s hardcore bands

  • well the melvins are the band that got kurt into that sort of music and he became good friends with krist through them and then introduced dave to them. so the melvins had a big part of it all.

  • true that

  • I dont think anything would exist without the pixies.

  • @brookwoodt never

  • I hereby declare Frank Black, lead singer of the Pixies, SIR KICKER of ASS!(tm)

  • Thats "Sir Black Francis" to you, good sir!

  • and evolving from the sea would not be to much time for me to walk beside you in the sun....ahhhh

  • my thoughts exactly!

  • Are alot of Pixies song like this? If so... then damn you people should have told me eirlier!

  • I wish you a good discovery of this great band!

  • Actually, a lot are NOT like this. Check out "Gigantic" or "Hey."

  • every single pixies song is perfect, never forget that ;)

  • hell year, thats it!

  • Something i have noticed is their music is extremely diverse. goes all the way from some metalish to some punkish to some classic rockish.

  • That's why I love them! :)

  • Trompe Le Monde, hang wire, rock music, is she weird. debaser, carabou and velouria is a bunch of great pixies songs to mention a few ;)

  • me tooooooooooooooooooooooorock

  • yes sir

  • @dontbleedthadalo They ARE extremely versatile + influential ; if not for the Pixies we wouldn't have Weezer + the power pop scene ; we would not even have Nirvana ! ; one of the most influential rock'n'roll acts of all time !! But their other music is a little less climatic than this ; if you like post-punk refined with country/blues influences then this band is 4 you ! !

  • @dontbleedthadalo check out hey....alot of there songs are different, they go by what they were feeling at a particular moment

  • 8 lying cunts

  • @dontbleedthadalo they e the most under rated band ever, big influence on nirvanna, try their album doolittle. one of the best albums made

  • i think iot's their best album, it's just brutal thru and thru will up untill the najao know

  • Pixies playing Isle of Wight Festival 2009 :)

  • please tell me they'll play in america haha. I would drive like 8 million miles across the sun to see a pixies show lol.

  • that makes no sense...you asked when they would play in America...then you said you would drive 8 million miles across the sun...clearly where they play is not a issue for you.

  • but, america is the closier(closest?) place on earth to his house

  • then why drive 8 million miles across the sun?

  • dude, you didnt need to fucking analize that.

  • I do what I want...I assumed it would be taken as a joke...but I guess your up tight :(

  • oh, how I wish they play here in Jupiter...I think I would even cross the red blur to see that

  • if only

  • I wish they would play in my backyard so I could watch them while I grill burgers, brats, etc. That would be the shit!

  • Pixies rock. They need to comeback and make more albums.I don't know if they could, because Kim went on with better success with the breeders.Oh well maybe 1 of these days.Sniff sniff, sad.

  • You buck with people born on the 10 th of june ,you get mabumanssur and nonose wondering about the sun and religion and then you leave your awsome comment

  • Maybe but she served the Pixies well as a bassist.

  • Trompe le monde is great, and this song is the best.

    "i'm just like anyone

    i want to feel

the road of tar beneath the wheel named extinction

    and evolving from the sea

would no be too much time for me

to walk beside you in the sun..."

  • personally, i think those last 3 lines are the best lyrics ever written...

  • sweet

  • i want to feel

the road of tar beneath the wheel named extinction!!!! yeahhhh está canción es genial!!

  • Está genial total yes

  • this song is brilliant

  • The succession of Trompe Le Monde to Planet of Sound to Alec Eiffel to The Sad Punk might be the best opening of an album ever.

  • I LA LA LOVE THIS SONG!!!!!

  • totally agree with compiutas

  • Awesome. Trompe le monde is a very underrated Pixies album

  • Sometimes people are just to angry inside to enjoy aliens and surf guitar, maybe they just need to smoke some better greens.

  • una joda al happy punk???

  • !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Goil! :-)

    Great!

  • Vamos a jugar por la playa!!!

pixies cuando van a venir a la argentina???

  • NAMED EXTINCTION!!!

"and evolving from the sea would not be too much time for me to walk beside you in the sun"

this song is so dynamic, from intense to beautiful seamlessly

    Pixies always

  • amen....amen

  • biutiful

  • I <3 PIXIES!!!

    PIXIES 4 EVER!!!

  • 1:16 & onwards is the best thing this civilistion ever produced

  • I agree completely

  • me to :P

  • me 3

  • me 4k

  • i bum the pixies down so much, especially kim and francis, if u love pixies i love u.

  • love you too

  • Joey Santiago was the soul of Pixies.

  • He absolutely was. He adds so much to their sound with his echoing guitar and viceral sound. It's truly amazing.

    and he's sexy too.=)

  • is like an orgasm in my ears

  • orgasmic..........

  • frank black its a genius

  • Joe is a awesome guitarist too. Personally, I'm not a fan of Kim. Her bass playing is mediocre and shes fucking annoying, but thats just me. I do like her voice in the songs where she sings.

  • What? but the voice of Kim is sublime, and the bass is so solid and blunt, so fucking amazing. I respect your opinion but Kim Deal gave to the pixies force and strength with her soft and melodious voice.

  • I disagree. Frank black's solo stuff sounds a lot more like pixies than anything the breeders have done.

Wtf do I know though, I got negative 3 thumbs. Apparently my opinion shouldn't be heard. go go youtube censorship

  • Thank you! Man, and I thought that was just me. I had just recently bought a Breeders cd, and have to say that I'm a bit disappointed. I never really understood Kim Deal chasers who hone over every damn little thing she does. Don't get me wrong, I thing she's a really cool individual, but I just don't understand the hype surounding her. BTW I think it sucks that no one pays attention to the lead guy cuz they're all hounding Kim. Francis Black deserves much more credit

  • No sir, thank you.

  • what? "No" to who? and actually I'm a chick, not a guy, but thanks anyway.

  • A great song...

  • Only the pixies!

  • my favorite Pixies song

  • brilliant song

  • awesome!!!!!

  • insinuante...
