I think the closest thing we have to Debbie Gibson today is not Britney, not even Miley Cyrus, Demi Lovato or Selena Gomez, but Taylor Swift. Taylor does write her own material at least. However Debbie/Deborah can sing circles around Taylor, so I'd still pick Debbie.

Even though I loved this song all my life, This song came back into my memory when I was 15 (around 2001), sitting at a Pizza Hut in Grayson Kentucky (about 35 miles east of where I live) with my Mom and Dad, This song came on the radio, even though I could barely hear it, it was memories of last hearing it when I was about 3 to 5, only I didn't know who sung it, or what the title was, thanks to my Mom, I know now. By the way THIS is my favorite Debbie Gibson song of them all.

Christina may be nuts, but so was Judy Garland (you might have to look her up) Sadly, if you remember a young Debbie Gibson (and I do), you are grown up too. We really can't compare the pop tarts, each are different but Debbie was a pioneer. Want to feel old? Mention Debbie and have a teen say, "Who?"
She was popular when I was a teenager and she was quite talented and wrote alot of her own music. She wrote most of "Out of the Blue" and that is quite a feat for a 16 yr old. She had a few successful albums after this one. I kind of wish she'd made a come back.
@marshafaith606d maybe, except that debbie wasn't a little skank like britney is, wearing no underwear out in public and flashing her muffin for the whole world to see. oh, and debbie also didn't get pregnant at a time in her life when she had no business bringing a child into the world because of drug and alcohol problems. britney -- who, in my opinion, has minimal talent at best -- should have kept her legs closed or, at the very least, practiced safe sex.
