  • Lol I wish mine could do that..,,

  • I love blue roans, he's stunning.

  • The horse is just listening ("pinned ears") to the rider, it looks to me.

  • It looks so cool but may be uncofortable to sit on... hmmmmm.

  • OMG is that stonehurst park??? I used to go there for summer camp!!!! now i ride my horses there!!!! how cool

  • Excellent showmanship; Beautiful horse, great trainer and rider.

  • looks like a lusitano X QH. still gorgeous horse none the less. QH's are amazing, one of my favorite breeds.

  • lmfao he ridin in the hood! xD but gorgeous horse! :)

  • That is really awesome!!

One thing I really want to know is.... How uncomfortable is that for the rider?? It looks awkward and uncomfortable.

  • He look 100% foundation quarter horse!!!!!!!

  • @thecassl3 couldnt agree more ! my tb looks warmblood when hes collected and then when hes got his neck right out you can defs see hes thoroughbred. my friend has a pure qh. hes from an imported USA stallion and a pure australian qh bloodline mare and when hes on the bit you think your on a friesian really and then you get off him, let him relax you see the qh :L

  • thats a bautiful quarter horse you got there yet he dosent look 100% quarter horse!

  • Gorgeous, and one heck of a dancer :)

  • man that horse can dance

  • Lovely horse, brilliantly ridden

  • gorgoeus horse loveely movement!

  • Beautiful horse - ridden by a capable rider - in an ugly curb bit.

  • 4 1/2 is perfectly fine for training horses and I'm not sure why anyone is saying, "poor little horse." This man obviously knows what he is doing and the horse is beautiful and collected. Also, just because a horse has nice hair and a well-arched neck doesn't mean he can't be full QH. :P

  • Pooor horse. It's a abuse to ride a young horse likte that! :( He is to young.

  • He is an idiot person,,,poor little horse,,,horrible training,,,

  • I'm confused why everyone is saying he can't be pure QH. He looks identical to our Foundation Bred Blue Roan. Go to my profile and find the video: Blue Playing

  • senor lopez donde esta localisado me gustaria entrenar un caballo de la rraza espanola con usted mi numero es 713 2130371

  • This is a quarter horse? He's beautiful. Not sure why the negative comments, this is obviously a strong, fit, horse. Oh, and foaming at the mouth is normal, actually happens when a horse is accepting the bit and is comfortable.

  • you are working that horse half to deth he/she is foaming out of its mouth!

  • @Emilie2198 Emily al horses foam from the mouth, and like sr14225 said it can mean they accept the bit and comfortable. What turned a diferent color from sweat driping from her belly that day david loaded her on the trailer, that was her choice though.Alot of times you say things about other people riding and do that exact thing. This man is a good trainer and he knows what he is doing so don't go saying that kind of stuf.A lot of times, youl treat horses like they are engines.Just sayin

  • @Emilie2198 The foam is a good sign. It means they are accepting the bit.

  • Theres no way thats a Quarter Horse....but still very nice!

  • Teach me, Sensei!!!!!

  • its cool but makes the rider look stupid.

  • @mikeandbone Au contraire, the rider is asking the horse to do high level intricate work and the horse can do so if the rider absorbs the movement of the horse in his hips and body. The rider looks like a pro.

  • @walk4trot2canter3 say what you want but he looks goofy. and just for future reference the horse is the one asking you to learn to ride him.. i feel sorry for your horse or any that you ride already.. i wouldnt even give a snot nose brat a piggy back ride let alone have him or her saddle me then ask me for favors..

  • Just piaffing around? lol.

  • My retired Blue Roan QH/Canadian Cutter will do these moves in his pasture. I've caught him doing it on our security cam. So hilarious. But as soon as he sees me he stops. I can only see him do it on our cam.

  • Its all perspective. Just because the horse is doing passage, does not mean he is a 'dressage' horse and shouldn't be judged by those standards. Modern dressage doesn't 'own' high school work. He is a gorgeous horse that looks happy in his work, and has obvious talent for piaffe/passage. Some may call him a 'trick horse', but see the beauty and happiness before you get judgemental. Very nice horse, wish he was mine. I've been looking for a QH with good dressage movement.

  • @horsearcherlady i dont know where in that you see a 'happy' horse. all i see is a horse with a huge shanked bit on, constantly chewing on the bit with pinned ears and that 'i'd rather be anywhere than here' look. he's beautiful but i'm fairly sure he isnt happy.

  • schlimm..!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @windflowerstable1 I´m sure you know a lot about your classical world. Can you tell us all where the origin of classical riding is found? Why do most riders in the world get on and off the left side of the horse? Why are the expressions and names of the moves in French? and most important of all, why do you not just give your opinion in a normal tone instead of that know it all, crytical, my way is the right way attitude? Keep the shame stuff for the things you do wrong.

  • @windflowerstable1Have you seen the double bridles they use in Burkina Fasso, Mongolia, Nigeria, Argentina, Algeria? no cos they don't. Anyone can get on a horse and bore him to death doing drills, strap his mouth shut after stuffing it full with steel or iron and goad him around to absolute stress and submition. You yell that this is not classical, WTF. Who gives a damn? its just a damn passage that´s all.

  • @windflowerstable1 The trouble with people like you is that you think you know it all about horsemanship. Horsemanship is what you feel it is and there are as many ways as people in this world. We do not have to live by your tight and all too often ruthless ways. you subdue horses to painful limits and still think you know. Good for you but not for your horses. This age is not too young for passage. We don't need dbl bridles, why do you?

  • I have always wondered how to teach a horse that... There are not very many really good videos out there to teach said dancing

  • @cfox248 This move is called passage and you have lots of quite good vids on this. I'm no pro, but the basics would be to stand beside your horse and just tap his heels 1 by 1 till he lifts his feet 1 by 1. No banging just tapping with a stick/crop or whatever. Then do the same at a walk while retaining his stride, nearly sort of walking the spot, then at a trot, like jogging on the spot (piaffe). Then get in the saddle and tap the hocks while retaining him. Patience, no rush.

  • @cfox248 The idea is to make him lift his foot just as it hits the groung, while you walk you obviously only tap the rears cos there's no way of darting round all four. Do it at a rhythm, you setting the beat with your taps and stride and he will learn surprisingly quickly. I like Marion Weisskopff with this, type "teaching passage" her vid will come up, I hope you enjoy it. Good luck.

  • prefer this kind of outline on a quarter horse than the *headinthesandQH*

  • @jory84 Nice one. I agree.

  • is this chris browns horse?

  • @5alidal wat is that supposed to mean

  • i wonder how much training u need

  • Have any of you who don't think this is a QH and who think the breed exsisted without Thoroughbred blood, ever looked back to the origins of the QH? TB (old style big boned blood from the 1700's), Morgan, Mustang, Native American horses (of old), Percheron. They were designed as a competive racing horse for the colonies. Then they went west where they were influenced by more Mustangs and used for ranch work. They were suppose to be big butted and broad across chest to hold steers and turn.

  • Wow! Wonderful Boy, Excellent Trainer....Thank you for the Video.

  • Fabulous QH stallion. WOW I am overjoyed to see a good old fashioned style of QH with the strength and agility that once was known to this breed. Before the infusion of TB and other breeds to trim and refine them into cookie cutter cardboard lean things not near resembling a QH in the first place. Perfecto~

  • uh...to havetogojump...this is NOT passage..closer to Piaffe..

  • Lmao never seen a horse do this!!

  • Doesn't look like a fullblood QH to me, but gorgeous horse none the less.

  • @GotNoMonies I agree, while he has that big quarter horse rump, his round thick neck screams andalusian. Gorgeous non the less!! I love Blue roan.

  • @GotNoMonies Yeah I agree, I can see some QH but I also see a lot of Spanish blood... Not that I wouldn't take him in a heartbeat anyway!

  • @GotNoMonies yes it does, dont you see its huge butt and its head DUH

  • @GotNoMonies You do know there are several 'types' of quarter horses, right? Racing, halter, stock, etc, each have slightly different confirmations.

  • Looks more like an Azteca

  • It's not to young for piaffe as long u dnt push to hard. Everything takes time an patients. Ese el movimiento Que ase el arendador. Para Que aga el piaffe. Todo tienen differences modos para arendar.

  • porque el hombre hace esos movimientos con la cabeza? :S

  • @Paular0a Reckon he's bobbing his head to the music? Out of place in the arena, but if you're enjoying the ride...

  • too young, too early for piaffe/passage but lovely horse, hope he stays sound.

  • @county1007 Actually, that's not a bad age for training... Question is, what age was the horse when he started the training... hmm?

  • beautiful horse!

  • No Offense to the rider but, hes not staying in the saddle all that well. The horse is pretty and graceful, but the rider isnt. Look at the riders head!

  • well, this is not a full blood quarter horse, I can tell you that much. Minimumly it has a south american breed in it too, like lusitano. Must really be in shape because it looked like it was in the passage for a while-

  • The horse is a quarter not doubt the neck is crested like that when it dances( what he is doing) all of my neighbors dancing horses have their neck that way when they dance.

  • A wonderfully passage with VERY good work with rear legs (which is the absolutely hardest part to accomplish)!! So good to see!! A horse and his horseman showing off, doing their best to be seen and admired the two of them!! Viva!!

  • how much are you selling him for great horse?

  • all look different confirmation wise because of the work they do, and QH were originally race horses. theyre versatile, this guys just fine =]

  • @xikissbloodylips Actually, Quarter horses were Not originally race horses, they were ranch horses, used for traditional ranch work in western part of the US and mexico. While some lines are not used as race horses, those racing lines are very heavily influenced by TB's.

  • @LarimeWD derrrr okay they were named for their quarter mile sprint they ran. original quarter horses were racers. yeah some people used them for other shit but their main purpose when the breeders reached the result they were looking for was to race. and the whole breed is heavily TB influenced or was back when the QH breed was being 'formed'. there's a ton of breed that are TB influenced. has nothing to do with the fact that Qhs were originally bred for racing.

  • gorgeous horse. for those worried about him doing a passage at 4 1/2 years old, theres a hell of a lot more strenuous things he could be doing on a regular basis. quarter horses mature early and theyre very hardy. this trainer obviously knows what hes doing if he trained a 4 1/2 yr old to this much advancement for his age. and he does look full QH. different training methods and disciplines will fill a horse out in different ways. dressage, jumper, eventing, western, and cowhorse quarterhorses

  • 4 1/2 yos should not be doing piaffe/passage. Even if they are full QHs. This horse is going to be ruined by the time he's 10 if they continue his training this rapidly. As for the breed, he looks pretty English QHy. But any horse of any breed shouldn't be doing passage at 4.

  • @Gingerrism I wonder if it really is a cultural thing. I don't mean to sound racist, but I have just noticed that with more of the hispanic riders they push their horses too far too young. Often using what I think are pretty severe bits. Should a 4 year-old really be in a double bridle with such a long shank? Probably not.

  • YOUR FLOPPING LIKE A FISH OUT OF WATER!

  • He does look like he has something more than just QH in him. He looks a lot like a spanish breed. Maybe some andalusion, or lusitano? Or something of the sort. That would be my guess. And why so long in passage? Beautiful horse though. Absolutely gorgeous.

  • such a sexy horsey <3

  • @chizel127 maybe even some Lippizan in him

  • gustavo esta a al venta si te interesa mi celular es (619) 402 36 69

  • The gymnastics of Dressage Training develop the muscles differently than Western Pleasure. The horse is a QH. Many QH are downhill, that is rump higher than withers, this obliges them to put more effort into rounding the back and lifting the hock, and effort + time + muscles. The intent is to develop the circle of muscles so that is easier for the horse to carry weight. This boy is very advanced for a 4 YO.

  • @gmwwc i agree this is definately a QH he just has a different muscle structure than most 'westen' trained QH's because his training has taught him to 'round out' so to speak. which i believe would be why his neck is so crested and his haunches turned under more so than the 'normal' QH.

  • Is that his normal motion, does he have a trot as well?

  • Quarter and Draft, maybe? But deff. not a full blood Quarter horse.

  • @chizel127 i would just like to point that quarter horses sizes are pretty much breed for the disciplines the person is looking for, for example the english show horse you see at AQHA run some where between 16h to 18h they're huge but without the big boned structure and the western pleasure are usually around 15.1 15.2 h but a tid bit stocker and the halter studs are tanks(!) running around 16h in height with little heads that on top of huge necks and back ends the size of a buss!!

  • Pretty sure this gorgeous blue roan is being truthfully represented regarding his breeding. I have a mare that is Poco Bueno (Quarter Horse) top & bottom and she looks exactly like this horse, just almost black instead of blue roan. The Poco Bueno horses sometimes have a "baroque" look to them - pretty cool! They naturally like to collect. I enjoy watching this horse in passage with such a nice expression - soft and smooth. Thanks for posting this "robinspurs1"!!! Nice horse!

  • wow what a beautiful horse. but i think it might need a break after that :)

  • Excellent horse!! That rider needs to learn how to give the horse a break though! HEs not the one doing most of the work!

  • looks like it has andalusian in it for sure how its built

  • WOW very nice quarter horse

  • @chizel127 thank u i have owned 3 quarter horses and sold 2 of them and still own a tb paint quarter horse so hes half not full he cant be he justs some other parth of quarter horse not full and thank you for picking my side!!!

  • @havetogojump i agree as well, he does look off some spanish breed, at first glance i thought he looked like a paso fino, but yes as well as andalusion, if he is a quarter horse and for only being 4.5 years old, he is doing well in his dressage manuevers

  • Wouldn't want this guy riding my horses at all! He rides with broken wrists rather than keeping them straight and giving and he's moving all over the place! There is no core support for this young horse! This passage and piaffe is very incorrect. The horse has not had proper time to develope the correct muscles so he can TUCK his haunches under him and support the gait. That's why he is hoping and irregular behind. RHYTHM is the foundation of proper dressage training!

  • This passage is very incorect. There isn't much impuslion and the horse rocking is not part of the passage, but is him trying to keep balanced. His hindquarters are not tucked and at :40 to :50 seconds in you can see he is heavy on the forehand. I don't like critisizing riding and do it rarely, but generally when the passage is done like this, it is taught cruelly, like in those "mexican 'dancing' horses"

  • @cowgirl22hannah true to your comment. im from mexico, and i've seen all the crap they do to these poor horses, mostly done by incorrect abusive training. you usually dont teach a young horse passage nor piaffe at this age, it takes more time to develope the correct muscling to perform a good piaffe/passage.

  • wow! he is cool! very pretty for a qh!

  • ugly for a QH....I'll stick with my barrel / cow horses :-) neat for a dressage horse tho.

  • beautiful! and well done. looks like he knows what hes goin.

  • he is not full quarter horse his head is way to big sorry but he is half i have alot of horses and they all are perfect and hes part not full

  • @havetogojump if u look at how hes build hes a quarter horse. the head size dont matter, i think the owner of this video knows what breed the horse is.

  • @havetogojump Not every horse looks "perfect". I've seen plenty of QHs that have thoroughbred-type bodies, or dished heads, and some have great confirmation but no personality or are crazy. Just like humans, every horse is different.

  • He's just beautiful. I just purchased my first horse who is a Blue Roan QH.

  • my dads friend from mcallen texas would train the horses to do that and he would make the horse bowe

  • omg... look at that cresty neck!!! He looks just like some fancy iberian breed! that's far from the knife-necked, downhill, big-bum quarter horses i see everyday...

  • Very nice Quarter Horse (:

  • how do you make a horse do that i mean i really want to teach my horse i just dont no if you can make any horse do that i no everything about rodeo in but this stuff nope nothin lol

  • A whole lot of time, high level of training, dressage experience, whips, and spurs.

  • And how long is the horse supposed to be in passage?

  • He is absolutely stunning. Are you sure he's full QH? He looks like he has some baroque influence. Either way, he's gorgeous.

  • I have always maintained that horses are musically inclined, my horses fall into step with one another, or with me, and listen to the tune when I whistle or hum, when I drum on something and if you watch, they try to match the beat. TRULY MAGNIFICENT!
