I personally am disappointed. Do you not see how thin that cow is. It looks sickly. You could be drinking bad milk, and your family too. That cow is either sick or under nourished. I have been around milk cows all my life, and I've only seen unhealthy cows with their ribs and hip bones sticking out. I'm not judging you. Only stating facts. Have a vet look at that cow.
@gingermorley Milking cows are supposed to look like this. I doubt you have been around them all your life. If you have a good milking cow she wil put more into her milk production than her body fat. She might even be an old cow. Stop judging people and animals when you know nothing of the sort!
hi-5 to your boy . he milked her out good . but just saying . so you don't sound like city person . get a cow to a routine and put feed infront of them. they will go to the same place . by the way sell the donkey . what good does it serve you ? leave the chicken coop door open all night unless you have lost chickens too coon or fox . but for people to buy a cow and a few chickens won;t keep the bills down .lol it's great that ur kids see where real food comes from
@cowboywithspurs36 You just live for money don't you? The donkey is a good family pet. Why don't you go sell your dog? and BTW who cares what he does with his chickens. At night the go inside and sit on a stick to sleep. Why risk leaving it open when they stay inside anyways.

I think your doing a super thing providing your family with that lifestyle. What state do you live in? (just wanted to mention) You should steam or pasteurize your milk before consuming it. That kills the bacterias in it. The bacteria naturally found in milk attacks brain cells. There's a site called BYC, that helped me to learn a great deal about everything from raising my flock to making soaps,& jams......Peace!
I don't think that there has been any noticeable dramatic change but we have all been healthier and stronger and our allergies have either lessened or disappeared altogether. I think that the noticeable change would come if we returned to store bought milk.
They can be purchased online under the name essential oils online or in health food stores. There is also a concentrated ceder oil for flies on cows out there in the internet somewhere as well. I think they sell it by the gallon and you then water it down.
Technically, our cows are on the thin side but are not considered really thin. Most of the cows you see around you are probably beef cows which are being purposely fattened to increase market weight. They have quite a different build than dairy cows. Our cows are grass fed only, eat all day and are very healthy. Perhaps as we improve our pasture they will put on a little more weight.
I dont know what that person is talking about those cows look very healthy. Look at the shine on there coats. That only comes from a healthy diet. Havent we learned fat dont= healthy.
It's amazing that cows are not more aggresive considering their size. My nephew was recently bitten by a horse...you never hear about cows doing that. Do donkey's bite? What do you do or would you do with a farm animal that did bite...especially with children around? Another great video...thanks.
Our cows are the gentlest animals on the farm which is good as they are 1200 pounds and when they butt each other there is a lot of force. The other day there was a bamboo stick laying on the ground and Phoebe stepped gently over it. We use the sticks to move the cows so you would thing if they had their chance they would crush them but they don't.
Another time Pezra had just had her calf and it wasn't yet walking all that much. They were both laying down together and Pezra was getting up. Patrick her calf was right behind her and we thought she was going to step on him as she could not see him but she felt him some how and she took tiny baby steps gingerly avoiding him. Cows can't bit as they have no front teeth. Bo our donkey bit both Anna and I the day went to see him but hasn't since.
hehe mornin phoebe! just love it! you got a wonderful place, hope someday i can live like you.

I agree. It is hard to judge the health of the cows by industry standards as they are not natural.
