this is why a world peace will never happen, there will always be bastards in the world to take away freedom. the guy is right, you need the tools to defend.
Well yes, that can contribute to the fact that they have such a low crime rate. but most importantly its because the Swiss people are not just a nation of loosely cobbled up bunch of culture less twat's also (*cough america*).
@RuthlessZabusa do you have a passport?(unlike half of your population) have you been to Britain? no. Shut Up then... How's that Ghetto crime rate going? or those turf wars? what about that MS-13 problem? At-least Muslims in Britain are not armed to the teeth, and compared to the Ethnic problems America its got nothing on Britain. FACT: Washington has the HIGHEST murder rate in the world.
@supersymbiotic Don't know where you got that fact but it's not a fact. Also we don't have turf wars, this is just more propaganda your country has spread to turn you int a sheep. Have you ever been here? Also your right I don't have a passport, I'm also 17 and have never needed a passport. Europe is disgusting nowadays, bunch of uninformed twats who think they're experts on American crime.
Your FACT about Washington's murder rate ir BS...not even the highest in US...tho you do support one thing I agree with...the gun control laws in Washington are having a very bad affect...Check the facts...gun control happens...crime INCREASES....there are examples of laws mandating people own guns...guess what...crime rate drops. Its fine you dont want a gun...but when you want to impose your will on others...the facts about crime and safty, just arnt on your side.
@supersymbiotic its funny how with one hand you tell USA to disarm...then on the other you tell us what danger we are in LMAO...you just dont like us...no problem...just stop being foolish with your arguements...
Having lived in Europe near the Swiss border for a few yrs., I think I can speak a little on this subject. The reason it is mandatory for Swiss citizens to maintain arms in their homes is because Switzerland is a Pacifist Country with NO STANDING MILITARY FORCE, so everyone must be prepared to defend the country if and when necessary and NOT for the reasons being expressed here by the others with an agenda. Know the facts! Also they have a defense treaty with Germany.
@paul4073 Don't generalize. There are gun control advocates who believe that stricter laws for guns are a positive thing, and do not support a blanket ban. I personally think gun control is a positive step, but do not believe in a ban. Gun control as in most countries does not consist of a ban. Individual firearms are prohibited (full auto, and etc.), but handling and storage laws are stricter. This is what I believe gun control should be. Just as the phrase says. Gun "CONTROL"
@quedorf . "Gun control as in most countries does not consist of a ban. Individual firearms are prohibited (full auto, and etc.), but handling and storage laws are stricter. This is what I believe gun control should be. Just as the phrase says. Gun "CONTROL"
What all of you fail to acknowledge is that there is another layer to gun ownership, to defend against a tyrannical government, the UK lost that ability. The US was born from gun ownership.
@RuthlessZabusa Everyone who debates this subject has come across this argument at some point, but most do not bother to address it as it is a non issue, and nothing more than excuse making. The US does not and will not have a tyrannical government. The system itself has enough fail safes to prevent this from happening. So this is the extent that I address something so unlikely.
@quedorf Even if I agreed with you I will say one more thing the Tojo, and Russians didn't invade mainland US because they knew everyone had guns and they wouldn't have been fighting just the military they would have been fighting 90% of the country. Just like the reason people open carry hear, open carry is crime deterrent, civilian ownership of firearms is invasion deterrent.
@RuthlessZabusa That is a modern day myth. the quote that commonly goes around and is attributed to Yamamoto. was not at all from him. It is common knowledge that Japan did not have the resources or desire to invade mainland US, as their goal was in the pacific. They attacked PH to prevent the US fleet from. So the reason they did not invade US is simply because it was not in their agenda. Japanese soldiers were extremely brave, so US having guns would not bother them at all. One word kamikaze.
@RuthlessZabusa And when were the Russians in a position to invade the US? They were allies in WW2. The cold war was just two countries flexing their muscles. Neither country had any interest in invading each other. It was basically a nuclear build up. No invading there. Now US and Russia have no hostilities between each other.
@quedorf I know realistically I wish Russia and the US would put everything behind them and crush China into the dirt. But you don't seem to realize how much fear there was of a Red Invasion during the Cold War. The Japs on the other hand literally didn't invade because of that fact.
@RuthlessZabusa What basis do you have to make the claim that japan did not invade due to armed Americans? The myth was started from this quote "You cannot invade the mainland United States. There would be a rifle behind every blade of grass.", that was claimed to have come from Admiral Yamamoto, which has been unsubstantiated, and almost certainly false. What other evidence do you have?
@paul4073 So the comparison is not valid. As a simple example, look at the comments made by many US gun supporters, and the Swiss commenters on this and other videos like this. The attitude difference is night and day.
@paul4073 I don't know about the Brady Camp. That is an American thing. I do know that Gun control is a multi layered system. Swiss have much stronger gun control than the US, and much less poor than the US. To compare the Swiss to the US citizens is not at all feasible. Swiss lack the gun culture and attitude towards guns that the US has. Swiss lack the poor. Swiss have the social programs to allow for less need. They have mandatory military training, which I am sure would not work in the US.
This video does not answer the question asked in the title. It only explains vaguely how the mandatory military training and subsequent distribution of firearms works. The true reason they have a low (not the lowest) crime rate is simply because they have effective social programs in place. The military weapons are not in every house as is implied. Also they must be locked up separate from the ammo. Which is typical in countries with gun control.
I love seeing this. i just turned 18 and im working to purchase my second shotgun. I hope people start to see guns as "tools" not as things that cause crime. Plus it does not help that the media seems to love reporting information that gives guns a bad name.
Judging by the title of this video and its contents, what you're implying is wrong. Countries that have a high crime rate tend to have 2 things in common: 1. they have a huge gap in the distribution of wealth between rich and poor, and 2. most of the rich have acquired their wealth through dishonest/unfair means. Fortunately for Switzerland, it doesn't have these traits, hence its low crime rate! BTW, very few Swiss homes have a gunand I should know I live there!
This is the 3rd copy of this video I have seem, the rest all have comments disabled, and are just short of banned on youtube? What is Google and the Liberals afraid of?
Keep letting third worlders in and say goodby to your low crime rate.

did I hear that the ammo is provided by the government ? do they limit the amount of ammo you can have? do you keep ammo at the house?
