  • I love love LOVE the corset.. whered ya get it?

  • @ericaroane Thanks! I actually get all of my corsets off of ebay. Just search for "corset" and they'll come up in all shapes, colors and sizes.

  • Okay, I'm sure you are a musician, but you also mentioned videos and editing in this video. So, are you a film maker, too?

  • @wolfbracker Lol, yes and no. I have Windows Live Movie Maker lol. I concentrate mostly on my music and writing. I have been known to create the occasional short film. I will actually be posting at least one this month. I love film making, I wish I had time to do more of it.

Month of April is ScriptFrenzy (scriptfrenzy[dot]org) 30 Days to write a 100 page script. This will be my third year participating. (I also do National Novel Writer's Month in November.)

  • @sarahlacroixmusic That's so awesome!!! You are quite the busy bee. LOL. I love film making too. But, lack of time and equipment is forcing me to use super easy computer animation. But, I do love it, to no end. Didn't like it back in college, too many deadlines!

Okay, let me make sure, I got it, right? You're a songwriter, screenwriter, film maker, and you write novel stories. Okay, I gotta ask, do you know what sleep is? LOL. It's great that you enjoy so many passions, like that!

  • @wolfbracker I also do artistic photography, maintain a blog, and nail art. I would kind of like to get into acting in a webseries. I can sleep when I'm dead? Actually, the reason why I can do all of this is because I make sure that I sleep. I'm lucky because a lot of my art is inspired by dreams. Music will always be my primary focus though.

  • @sarahlacroixmusic I'm sort of the same. I daydream a lot at work. I have a no brainer job. Then, when I get home. I totally pumped to write my next project for my videos. I actually find that it helps me to be a lot more creative having a no brainer job. My head is still spinning after reading all the stuff you are invovled with. LOL. But, I'm sure you do enjoy it. And, I see you put annotions in your video, that's awesome! Every little bit helps, with getting more views.

  • @wolfbracker I struggled a lot with the whole lack of equipment problem for a long time, and eventually came to the conclusion that something is better than nothing. I have been very fortunate to be able to upgrade my equipment dramatically over the years, but it is nowhere near professional quality. However, we all have to start somewhere, and it's all a learning experience.

  • @sarahlacroixmusic I totally agree, put to good use what equipment you do have. If someone waits for better equipment, nothing would ever get done. And, if people are interested in your videos and music, they will totally forgive not having top notch equipment. Every day is a learning experience for me. But, I love knowledge, just for the sake of it.

  • @wolfbracker " If someone waits for better equipment, nothing would ever get done."

I'm so glad I'm not the only one that thinks that! I've met some people that tell me to have certain pieces of equipment right down to the model number. We are YouTubers! We make amazing things with incomplete equipment!

  • @CarylCake Excuses, excuses! My first video was done with a built in laptop microphone and a webcam. The audio and video didn't even sync up! But my first videos allowed me to establish myself, and get more comfortable. It allowed me to make more mistakes.

More importantly, we are artists, and the true artists know that art happens whether you use your bare hands or a $40 paintbrush to paint with.

  • @CarylCake So true, CarlyCake. And, incomplete equipment does force you to be creative and sometimes being creative, makes for a better video.

If someone wants to see, professionally made movies they'll watch dvd's or go the movie theaters. LOL. Besides, I like the indie look, myself.

  • @wolfbracker Oh, I hear you there! Last night, I had some down time, and I decided to learn how fire breathing is done. I don't know if I'll ever try it, but it was something I was curious about. Take me to a book store and you'll find me in the non fiction section. My favorite magazines are Psychology Today and Scientific American Mind... yeah, I'm a total nerd, but I love it!

  • WOW Sarah! I love your persistence in what you do! Cool vlog! Did you upgrade your hair? I like it! : )

  • @cbfall Thanks! I got it done awhile ago, but it looks different today because I needed really big 80's hair for the Day 3 video.

Being persistent and never letting myself forget that everything is a learning experience definitely helps me to not get too down on myself.

  • @sarahlacroixmusic I was around in the 80's and it rocked!!! If your enjoying your passion, no reason to get down and out. And, practice makes perfect don't forget.

  • @wolfbracker I was born in '85, so I was sort of around for the '80's, just unable to really appreciate them. However, if I could choose any decade, I think that I would go with the 70's... oh wait.... I feel a video coming on! Okay, I will be elaborating on this in a future video.

  • @sarahlacroixmusic The 70's, ah the disco era. The 70's and 80's were the best time for the record companies in terms of sales. I was too young to remember the 70's myself. I was around, just too little to remember. LOL. A video done in the 70's style sounds great actually. And, maybe one for the 80's too. You should watch "In the 80's" by Rhett and Link, here on You tube. They totally captured the feel of the 80's, in that video, perfectly!

  • So are you saying you are TIRED???? hahahaha... Can't way to see the next ones..

  • @TheMasterEtheatre Well Day 3 has me doing jumping jacks in a bathing suit... it might be why I was so damn tired by the time I recorded this vlog.

  • Lol, singing habit... I know how you feel about that, it is a bit of an addiction! Right now I'm in such a comfortable place because we're still financially secure, but I'll have to start getting more creative with our food bill soon enough. :P Did you know you can make bacon look proper fancy if you use it to wrap up some cheese and courgette? Nice!

Also, I have the whole house to myself all day so I can make videos when I like. Even with my cold, I still have the advantage, so props to you!

  • @CarylCake Ooohhh, I didn't know that! And I love bacon! The summer was so hard for me only working 10 hours a week, but it was so amazing for my art. Working full time definitely put me in a much more comfortable position, giving me the ability to upgrade some of my equipment and stuff. Right now with it being so slow at work, my hours have been cut back some, actually great timing for this project.

  • @CarylCake Right now I'm still struggling to come to terms with the fact that I'm gonna have to give up my cozy existence and full time job in the next few months to continue my artistic journey. It will also mean moving yet again, this time to the city.

My room mate is pretty good about giving me space to do my videos. My neighbors, however, hate me. Oh well. One day they'll be bragging they used to know me.

  • All the best to you !! Hopfully this is your year to shine. Peace n love dave

  • @david3legs I hope so too. So far, it's off to an excellent start!

  • It's hard to be an artist and have a full time job. Great job with the video, it was totally honest and sincere. It's always great to see the person behind the artist. "The staving artist" came from Artists who love their art, so much that they will starve and go without food, just to make their art. It's why on film sets they feed you. As far as criticism goes. Everyone is their own worst critic. So, as long as your happy with music, that's what really counts.

  • @wolfbracker I definitely know that I am my own worst critic, I'm also my own worst enemy. I like to multitask like that. :P

I'm actually quite lucky to not be a starving artist for the time being. One of the perks to management is that they give me a free meal at work. So let's just say I eat a lot of A&W. Teen Burgers are my main sustenance lol.

  • @sarahlacroixmusic At least, you're eating on a regular basis, so that's something to be thankful for.

I might need to become a staving artist myself, so I can lose some weight. LOL.

But, sometimes it's a tough call. Working for a living and being able to buy equipment, that you don't have time to use or quit and enjoy your passion all day and go hungry. LOL.

  • @wolfbracker Lol, I did a stint as a starving artist when I was working at the diner... I really did lose a lot of weight. It was the major upside.

It is definitely a tough call, lucky for me, my hours have been cut back for a few weeks during our slow season. (Usually, I work 2-10:30 and then take on an extra shift for one of my days off.) It was really good timing, since I'm doing this video project. I've been saving so I can afford to go back to working part time.

  • @sarahlacroixmusic I know, second shift stinks. I work 3-11:30. Monday thur Friday. But, I'm lucky enough to have a job where I can go in late and leave early. But, I have to work 2 saturdays a month. So, it really makes it hard for me to be able to work with actors. But, then again, I'm in the process of buying more equipment. So, I'll wait and see what happens after I get all my needed equipment.

  • @wolfbracker I hear ya there! Lol, my days off are Wednesdays and Thursdays! Yeah... really, I have no life outside of work and music. I don't go out, I don't meet people, a guy I like came through drive thru and there's not a whole lot I can do about it... he works 9-5 Monday to Friday. Lol, maybe one day the cards will be right.

  • @sarahlacroixmusic Same here. work, work and then sleep, wake up and repeat the process. Five or six days a week.

Sounds like some flirting went on, if you know he works 9-5 monday thur friday.

  • Your 28 day challenge is going to be quite the challenge for you. But, at least it makes your experience more realistic in terms of life as a musician - good luck!

  • @littlespeedfighter Yes, most definitely. It's a realistic goal and it has been tons of fun, that's for sure.
