  • HES DEAD NOW HE WAS RELTED TO TAGGERT

  • I WISH I WAS BORN IN 1949 OR 1952

  • Love the sound. I just wish they actually performed during these shows instead of lip syncing.. but that was just the way they did it back then. Hell it was rare when pop bands even plugged their guitars in.

    Great stuff though.

  • Still an awesome song :)

  • the lyrics are perfect for my media film haha :)

  • What a tune to be born to....this was number one the very day I was born, back in '73.

  • thanks for posting this video fritz. This is an electric performance by Sweet. So much energy and they guys are so in sinc. WOW

  • Mick is damn talented! His drumming is incredible and the way he handles the drumsticks like a baton.... what a talent!

  • OOPS i meant 1:21 - 1:26 ♥♥♥ STEVE

  • 0:21 - 0:26 F*CKING HOT!!!

2:04 Brian's lip gloss is smudged haha. darn why didn't they show more of Andy (it's always just his hand in Steve's frame) and more of Mick

  • 1973, I was 12, hated school, the country was a mess, football hooliganism was rampant, fashion was hideous but music like this kept us sane. Bloody fantastic.

  • Sounds like 2010 Lol....and i was born in '73, so the country was a mess then, and it's still a mess now. How comforting, i think i'll go down the pub and get pissed.

  • @bagzie hahaha got that right mate im was born in east-end hey nothing good about it now sad mate

  • did u see brian when he was lifting his hands up in the air. he got steve at the bck of hi head lol

  • Just noticed that Andy Scott sticks two fingers up repeatedly at the end of the clip!

Plus, is it my imagination or do I hear Brian singing over the backing track at times?

From the days when Top Of The Pops was a must see with a revolving cast of Sweet, Slade, Gary Glitter (and later on the Glitter Band), T.Rex, Mud, Suzi Quatro, were practically on it every week, ably supported by lesser mortals with decent pop tunes.

Thanks for uploading this great clip.

  • My all-time favorite songs from one the best UK pop groups of the 70's!! The police sirens throughtout this song are amazing, & with a killer chorus, a great vocal & groovy beat all make this Sweet tune, a sweet classic. Gary in PA USA.

  • I love Brians little dancemove at 1.54!!!

  • IIRC 1st February 1973. With Noel Edmonds presenting and this was at Number 1 for the mighty Sweet for the 2nd week running and Mr Edmonds had Thin Lizzy on the same edition!

This performance has never been either shown on TOTP2.

  • Take me back to 1973,O'Glamking.

  • the jean genie!

  • One Of UKs Best Bands!!!

  • classic sweet song; awesome

  • Brian's a porcelain doll!

  • and i love his voice!

  • i love Steve at 1:59 he is very cool

  • really really good, love that track shame the ends just been nipped off though, but wicked tune though

  • So good to finally see this B & W clip as I don't think it's been broadcast in it's entirety since the original broadcast in Feb

1973. Because the BBC have two more clips of Blockbuster from TOTP in colour they always showed those instead of this one.

  • Woohoo!!

    Incredible!

    This is just excellent!

  • I saw one TV performance of this song where the bass player (I think) was made up to look like Hitler in drag. Bizarre!
