  • I read in ajc.com that deteriorated controls in the door components caused the problems. There was also an incident of a door that should not have been open when it was. So, all the Breda cars were pulled and will remain out of service until replacement controls are found and repairs are made.

  • does nebody kno what happen to the 600series cars???????????????

  • marta-rocks-its-like-septas-subway-and-el-system-but-marta-is-better-than-septa

  • Sounds like an R142A

  • Ironically, I boarded car 200 just the other day which happens to be one of the cars featured in this video. So I guess it's safe to assume that these bad boys are in fact still rolling. :D

  • Arent those the old Hitachi cars? I wonder if these cars can roll the rails of DC.

  • According to youtuber Sulaco516, those are Franco-Belge cars.

  • seriously? Dude....i got alot to learn bout Marta rail now. Are these boys still rolling?

  • @6V92TA Dimensionally, they could since they're the same length, width and height. They also run on a 750 volt 3rd rail just like the DC Metro. However, the signalling systems would need to be changed. Also, MARTA uses a 32" or 34" wheel on the trucks and DC only uses 28".

  • @tommyboy6181 i think MARTA uses 34 inchers. I never knew DC Metro used 28'ers. That'll prolly explain the lowness of the cars compared to other HRVs.

  • @tommyboy6181 what happened to marta 600series cars(the breda car)

  • @tommyboy6181 do you kno y marta dosent use the 600series cars now

  • @6V92TA Nope the hitachi cars had a different sound to them. They're not rolling anymore, that was back in the 90s when the system was actually progressing. Now its stalled with decreasing quality and no currently pursued plans for future expansions.

  • @Baron2yahoo Hitachi cars are still rolling. Both the ole Franco-Belges and Hitachi cars have been rehabbed by Alstom and sound jus like the Breda cars.

  • @6V92TA oh ok. I wouldn't have known. From first look I would think they got rid of the old cars for the Breda cars. I saw the older ones the east west line, a couple years ago, but when I came back last year I thought they were completely replaced.

  • damn!!! thas fucked up

  • MARTA rail is a good system hampered by regional ignorance and stupid fears of the inner-city residents. It still serves the Atlanta area of the 1960's and early 1970's. Nice footage.

  • Let me clarify, the fears are those of the surrounding suburbs of inner-city residents.

  • Thanks for commenting. I read up about why the Marta rail has limited service on wikipedia a long time ago and just shook my head. And to think that if it weren't for those three counties, Marta's service could be that much better than what it is now.

  • Cool, a refurbished 1970's car!

I like how it resembles the front of the newer units.

  • Actually, its vice versa. The ones you see here are the newer railcars(CQ312) that MARTA put into service around the early 2000s. You are correct in thinking the older railcars(CQ311) were recently refurbished, and have a somewhat similar look to the newer railcars.

I wish the CTA in Chicago had kept the beltrails/stripes on railcars, like many of the older railcars used to have till they were refurbished a few years ago. :( I like that MARTA never removed them from their railcars.

  • It would be interesting for the Marta trains to change their designs in the future and have a train sound just like the r160 trains in new york.

  • Are they more quiet?

  • ok, ok, keep showing your little city (Marta) train off.

  • -1 .....somebody didn't like your comment :(

  • I've rode both the NYC Subway's new E Train and on the Doraville bound MARTA subway on a vacation and their sounds are quite similar.

  • I've too noticed similar sounds by watching videos on here.

  • that train sounds like the BART Trains in San Fransisco.

  • The traction motors are different.

    BART: ADTranz/Bombardier 1507C

    MARTA: ADTranz/Bombardier 1508

  • After reading the comments, I guess I'm the ONLY one noticing that you shot a MARTA train arriving and leaving for your first video! Really? LOL!

Ladies and Gentlemen, this is a test of your National BLAQcasting System! This is only a test!

  • Actually, there were several videos that I posted prior to this one...one of the Buckhead skyline...two of me introducing myself...and a few others.

  • Sounds like the subways in New York city.

  • I think it's because MARTA and the MTA's R142A/S and R143 cars use Bombardier propulsion.

  • the r143a and the r142a they have the same sound

  • hell no! to the marta.

i got way too many stories

    about riding that train.

    lmao.

    no sir, i'll drive.

    lol.

  • lol Couldn't have been THAT bad bro!

  • yeah it was.lol.

    back when i was little,

i got robbed for my shoes.

    &

i've lost count of the drunk people

    trying to fight.

    oh and there's more.

  • MARTA has cops in every station now so I don't think it's that bad.

  • well this was a few years back,

    so things might have changed.

  • They deffinatly did, I was in ATL back in Feb and the cops were sweating us for taking pictures at Decatur Station. Then again I live in NY were getting robbed on the train is a daily thing so I felt real safe on MARTA.

  • They look and sound the same because the older rail cars are being rebuilt to be compatable with the cq312 series rail cars. The reason they sound the same is because one of the things they do in the rebuilding process is replace the old DC motors with AC motors.

  • The Franco-Belge CQ310 cars are made of extruded aluminum, whereas, the Hitachi CQ311 and Breda CQ312 cars are made of stainless steel.

  • lol, train man...welcome back.

  • wait wait...so you mean to tell me that train there in the vid isnt a Hitachi roller?

I wonder if DC's train could run on Marta rails. Would be interesting to see.

  • The MARTA rolling stock fleet numbers are as follows: The fleet numbers for the Franco-Belge CQ310 (Gen 1) cars are 101-200 and 501-520, the fleet numbers for the Hitachi CQ311 (Gen 2) cars are 201-320, and the fleet numbers for the Breda CQ312 (Gen 3) cars are 601-702.

The MARTA cars in this video are the CQ310 cars, according to the fleet numbers.

  • I looked at the fleet numbers of those MARTA cars in the video, and found that those are the Franco-Belge CQ310 cars.

  • Oh okay. You must be one of those heavy rail transit enthusiasts.

  • Hell, yeah!

  • So what is it about these rail cars that interest you?

  • The fact that the Franco-Belge cars had their final assembly done by Rohr Industries in Winder, GA.

Rohr built the WMATA 1000 series cars there.

Rohr also built the 1st gen BART cars at their HQ in Chula Vista, CA.

  • LOL! You know your shit!

  • Yep.

  • HAHA WMATA CAF 6000 Series are the best trains ever

  • Are you supposed to be comparing WMATA's trains to MARTA's trains?

  • Hell yea WMATA is better then any other transit system

  • Its Alstom 6000 Caf only Makes the 5000 series but yea what he says th 6000 series are the besttrains ever go wmata

  • The Franco-Belge CQ310 and Hitachi CQ311 cars used by MARTA were rehabbed by Alstom, and were fitted with the same ADTranz/Bombardier 1508 traction motors used on the Breda CQ312.

  • I learn something every day. Didn't know that. They all look and sound similar to me. Thanks for the response.

  • Were those the Breda CQ312, Hitachi CQ311 or Franco-Belge CQ310 cars?
