Around 30 watts should be good. The lower it is, the less you have to worry about doing heat damage. If you experienced at soldering, then a higher amount of watts can be used.
how do i change the colour of the X in the dashboard button? and on your site do you sell clear plastic shells because i wanna put one of themon a controller, and if not do you think you can consider getting some?
I dont have a tutorial for installing leds in the buttons, but there are other guides on here. I dont have any clear cases, but I do have some chrome ones that arent listed on EvanMods.com. They are $40 and have leds in the buttons already.
what points do u solder to keep the guide button lit if you know, im making a controller and i want the guide button to blink red while its on.........
The power straight from the battery is from the 5 points right in the middle of the circuit board. Attach a resistor (200 ohms or so) to one wire off of the led and attach the positive of the led to the far right pin on the board and the negative of the led to the 2nd pin from the left on the board. I am pretty sure this is how you do it. If not, then you can actually test combinations of the pins yourself, but remember to have the resistor on the led wire.
Sorry, but I cant do it for you. You can try though. Sadly this is the hardest thing to fix. First, locate the thin dark green line going to where the solder point should be. Then you will have to scrape off the green cover that is on the circuit board to show the copper underneath. Then solder the led to that thin line of copper. It will be ugly looking but you wont see it when you close everything up. Be careful not to scrape too hard or you may remove the copper line too.
The best way is to just add solder to the iron and melt both sides at once. Try grabbing the led with your tweezers and remove the led. Just dont try to pull it off. It shouldnt take any force.
I made my modded led controller using this tutorial. This is an excellent tutorial. If u would like to see my finished controller just click on my name = )
They will work with any wireless microsoft controller. You can tell which kind of circuit board you have by looking at the pictures on my website. There is a "controller type" category.
From the purchase date, it will take no longer than a week for them to be delivered. I ship your order out within three days, but I usually send it in two days or the next day.
I am glad you are wanting me to do this, but I dont offer any of what you are asking. You can buy the leds for around the power button and try yourself, but I dont offer a service for me to install them for you.
nice vieo but i have 2 questions 1 is the kynar wire on your website what u use to solder and do you do them for people and how would i send it to you if u do do it because i dont wanna mess up
There is a total of seven screws. Six of them are easy to find, with three being on each side. The seventh one is behind the bar code sticker where the battery pack goes. It is right in the middle of it. You can break through the sticker with your screwdriver or take the sticker completely off.

I tried this but I found it so hard to install the leds I managed to take it all off ok but installing the LEds is so so so so so hard :) Subscribed though
what kind of soldering gun do you use to do this with? im putting a mod kit in my xbox 360 controller and got to solder to the leds what do you recommend useing to solder to the leds?
You ripped off the solder point to led? Sadly this is the hardest thing to fix. First, locate the thin dark green line going to where the solder point should be. Then you will have to scrape off the green cover that is on the ciruit board to show the copper underneath. Then solder the led to that thin line of copper. @Evanator22742 I don't know I was asking you lol. Static or whatever. Also about the soldering iron, you have a 30 watt right, but I am getting a 15 watt iron and does this mean I have to have more contact time between the solder and the iron than you did? because it only took you 1 second to melt the solder.
For the LED mod you will need the LEDs, a soldering iron, solder, and some tweezers. LEDs from my site ($4), soldering iron ($10-$15), solder (sometimes comes with the soldering iron), tweezers ($1-$5).
Any kind of rosin core solder will work. The thinner, the better though since it takes less time to melt it and less chance to damage anything. And what do you mean for the middle LED?
Hey i have a question. So when you first started doing this did you like completely just MESS up your controller? because i tried and i totally screwed it over.... HAH... how do you practice?
The LEDs are extremely small and I know of numerous stories of people ripping off the LED contacts when taking them out but I dont find it difficult anymore. I have done my fair share of LED swaps though. You will need to use tweezers and make sure not to force the LED when you remove the green ones and you should be fine.
@Evanator22742 I know what you mean. I have the proper equitment and know how to solder SMD LED's and the amount of times people come to me and go "will you fix it for me?" when they've ripped the pads off the board. Its just stupid
@Evanator22742 I know what you mean. I have the proper equitment and know how to solder SMD LED's and the amount of times people come to me and go "will you fix it for me?" when they've ripped the pads off the board. Its just stupid
ok when your taking them apart. What's the second piece your using to melt them off with, When your using the soldering gun, what's that piece called?
How do i solder back a led on the xbox 360 controller that has no solder left on the point?
On my controller, i was soldering blue leds and on the last one i had trouble because the soldering point had no solder left because it was with the stock (green) led. I tried putting solder back on and it wouldn't stick on the point. I have tried flux but that didn't work. What should i do that works? please help!!!!
You ripped off the solder point to the power for the led. Sadly this is the hardest thing to fix. First, locate the thin dark green line going to where the solder point should be. What solder do in need to buy an where can j get the bigger LEDs for the middle
IHDesigns 1 year ago
@IHDesigns

MrThomasp94 1 year ago
@MrThomasp94
I suprisingly didnt mess up anything when I started. I did soldering in school and that is pretty much the only practice I had.

IHDesigns 1 year ago
hey i want to LED swap on my controler im not great with a solder tool will be able to do this???????
GJUnLeAsHeD 1 year ago
@GJUnLeAsHeD

What should i do that works? please help!!!!
funny962 1 year ago
@funny962
You ripped off the solder point to the power for the led. Sadly this is the hardest thing to fix. First, locate the thin dark green line going to where the solder point should be. Then you will have to scrape off the green cover that is on the ciruit board to show the copper underneath. Then solder the led to that thin line of copper. It will be ugly looking but you wont see it when you close everything up. Be careful not to scrape too hard or you may remove the copper line too.

@Evanator22742 i did it the my hand slips and removed the chopper line :'(. now i have to convince my mom to send in the controller to you....
