also, substandard training of Drivers and attendants puts the rest of us EMS staff in a bad light with the public, for Christ's sake, train these people properly so situations like this wont happen, train your people on "tunnel-vision", how to combat it
this MVC is unfortunate but, at 11 second on this video, the traffic light clearly shows its red, also, the driver of the ambulance is not supposed to be driving aggressively, he/she is supposed to be driving cautiously, when approaching any intersection, regardless, stop, look, and listen if able, there has been instances of ambulances coming to intersection, and at the same time, another emergency vehicle approaches the same intersection.
And above all, postal vehicles have the right of way
Looks like they ran a red light. They should have at least slowed down before entering the intersection, especially when the light is still green for the other lanes of traffic.
Wow even though ambulances are trying to seave peoples lives i understand going fast on streets but slow down at stop lights and stop signs is that too much to ask JEEZ
That ambulance driver should have gotten fired for that! He was clearly speeding, and he should have slowed down coming to an intersection! They are not police so they are not allowed to speed like that. My friend is an EMT on an ambulance and they can't speed like police cars. This driver is a moron and shouldn't be allowed to drive again since he just put the patient at serious risk, and could have killed someone else as well.
@adrenalineboyzryan actually we are allowed to speed up to 20 miles an hour over the speed limit. Just as a note, your buddy has been told wrong. BUT you are supposed to slow down to safely pass through intersections no matter what.
@DThompson1985 LOL my buddy wasn't told anything. He drives the ambulance. I said they can't speed like a police car can, but they are allowed a little grace on the speed limit. It differs from state to state though I am sure.
@MrAR15USER You are right about that. You don't have to be southern to be a redneck. If people would pay attention and use common courtesy the roads would be safer. Ah, in a perfect world! Not going to happen unfortunately.
@MrAR15USER LOL! I don't think being from the north has anything to do with it. You've got lots of stupid rednecks among "others" that have no common sense and just plain do not pay attention. Plus people drive like they are the only one's on the road. No common courtesy.
@SuperFirefighter9 They had a red light. I watched a different video with this crash in it and the guy said "red light!" to his partner. I agree...what an idiot. Seriously I have no idea what he was thinking or looking at...
just because you have lights and sirens on it doesn't mean EVERYONE will move it is still a red light and they have the right away not the ambulance driver always make sure it is safe
Most people consider a vehicle flipping over as doing a full 360 or more. That's not necessarily the case. A car on its side is technically flipped over. The ambulance did in fact flip on its side, it just corrected itself and flipped back right side up.
notice the light is RREEEDDDD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! you NEVER go through a red light without at least slowing up or stopping to make sure it's safe....and they gave the other driver a ticket??? who payed who off for that outcome? the driver of this rig should be fired!!!
Pwnt. That happened here, an Ambulance was returning to the hospital with a shooting victim in the back when a car T-boned it going through the light.. Stupid retarded drivers. What's worse is that the guy in the car in this video slowed down in front of the fucking ambulance.. Moron
@halonkin Actually, not every state requires you to stop. In the state of Texas, there is no law governming what an emergency vehicle can or cannot do when it's driving code.
The only rule is to do with it "due regard". If an accident happens, you're assumed at fault until proven otherwise.
You can run all the red lights you want and as long as theres no negative outcome there's no law being broken.
pingpongpung are you serious? You have obviously never been behind the wheel of an emergency vehicle. Emergency vehicles are REQUIRED to stop at red lights (which the ambulance had) and can proceed ONLY when granted the right of way by oncoming/cross traffic. Lights and sirens dont give you the right to drive with total disregard for others on the road...Motormouth, you're an idiot too...
I've been behind the wheel of MULTIPLE Ambulance, both box ambulances and van ambulances; WE DON"T HAVE TO STOP IN A INTERSECTION, it doesn't mean we get the right to RUN the redlights, we are supposed to either come to a COMPLETE stop like you mentioned, or we slow down until we feel it is safe to proceed through.
As an EMT myself i can say that the fault goes to the driver of the ambulance. ambulances are required to slow down before going through a red light or stop sign. The reason for this is because an ambulance is no good to a person in need if they dont get there safely. the seconds "lost" by slowing down are irrelevant if slowing down prevents a collision
I drive an ambulance and can tell you that the driver of that ambulance has no business on the road. It appears that he didnt even touch his brakes. The driver of the car probably didnt hear the siren because the ambulance was traveling so fast.
Ambulances with sirens always have priority of way. Theres no way they could have avoided that, the human driving the crossing car is completely at fault here.
F*** you!!! This is completely ambulance drivers fault! If you have your sirens on, it doesnt mean you cant run throuhg red lights without slowing down!!!!!
How much do you want the ambulance to slow down if one of your loved ones is in great need of medical attention? It's the car drivers responsibility to hear the sirens and be prepared to stop immediately. Its true the ambulance may not drive at speeds of lets say 100mph, that would be insane. In my country I think their speed limit is 20km/h in excess of the normal speed limit.
Do you know if you have your windows closed and radio on you cant hear hear the siren until ambulance is 20 meters from you??? And i think thats bit too late to do anything.
Actually they do, By law they have to come to a speed at which they can safely stop at an intersection green light or not before they proceed, so in this case the ambulance driver is at fault, he was overdriving his siren and tried to run the intersection without slowing. I teach this class trust me on this one.
bullshit, the car was already in the intersection before the ambulance got there, no way he could have stopped in time, and the ambulance is supposed to slow down almost to a stop before tearing through
as an emt i can say the ambulance is at fault we have to drive with what they call due regard which means we have to stop at redlights just like everyone else we just get to go through them after everyone stops the crew in the video didnt even touch there brakes. hopefully i dont have an MI in their truck
Iheard this on my scanner. In fact I listen to them all of the time. They use caution, but there are so many idiots who don't know how to drive or pay attention to emergency vehicles. Go save the lives and protect them ECEMS, ECFR, and ECSO.
i was always under the impression if an ambulance, hit a car etc while on call they had to carry on if they could and call another ambulance to the scene
wtf nobody flipped over, i could hear an ambulance from a mile away, whats wrong with people these days, they have no respect for the ambulance drivers that are trying to save lives
Lets this be a video of what not to do in the future! We must learn from this so that it doesnt happen again. Many people dont see us comming until we are really close. Just use caution, and above all Stay Safe!
Who? The ambulance? If you can hear an ambulance or/and see the lights (and if you can't what the hell are you doing driving a car?!), then you shouldn't try to cut across in front of it. Every second counts
also, substandard training of Drivers and attendants puts the rest of us EMS staff in a bad light with the public, for Christ's sake, train these people properly so situations like this wont happen, train your people on "tunnel-vision", how to combat it
