i wish Shane Hmiel would have spent his career in NASCAR better. he was a great driver but then he screws up and gets banned. he won in USAC im pretty sure and then he gets into a wreck. hes changed now but he will probably never drive again, he is still a great inspiration after he cleaned up his act.

When Shane went to rehab is when he was diagnosed for having Bi-Polar most of his life.Until he was diagnosed, he was being treated for what his Doctors believe was ADHD. Unfourtantly he wasnt diagnosed properly when he was quite younger, wich ultamently was a cause for his drug use ( NOT A EXCUSE FOR IT) Bi-Polar is just like have a split personality. Also Shane prolly had the same or better car control than kyle busch also. Hell of a driver. I remember when he and Vickers ran 70 laps side by side battle for the lead at IRP back in 2003. They never touched eachother at all. Great race. Shane was one of the best in the trucks and woulda been in great equipment if he didn't do drugs.

It was a stupid move on Shane's part back then but that was during the part of his life that was so stupid...driving in NASCAR races while doing coke. After being clean for three years he has been on the comeback trail in the Sliver Crown Series. Wishing him a speedy recovery.
Initiating contact makes you a fucking knob. Shane had all afternoon to get to first but he's too goddamn slow for that so he has to be an asshole. Good thing his career is pretty much on it's last legs. Just because you have the money to run a racecar doesn't mean you deserve to.
At the time, Bristol only had one grove. Shane had every right to knock on the bumper of Dale, and if Dale doesn't relent, move him out of the way. Dale knew this, and just couldn't handle giving up the spot. This is racing at the old Bristol, being nice is not part of the deal. God, all the wussy fan posts are a great representations of the failure of today's race fans.

Hmiel was probably high during this race, punting everyone out of his way haha. I like it at times when the chinstraps get too tight, tempers flare, words are said, and their are possibly obscene gestures. However, there's a fine line between being an aggressive driver, and be an extreme asshole behind the wheel. Hmiel obviously, was being an asshole. Then to "salute" a legendary driver like Jarrett, makes me glad Hmiel isn't racing anymore. I wreck him everytime whenever I play NASCAR 06 haha!

I don't think hmiel had the intention of wrecking jarrett 1 bit. It's racing for christ sake, hmiel couldnt c all those laps car stacking thing up in front of him. If you notice @ 18 second he could have ran completely over jarrett, but he does check up 2 let him regroup. Hmiel was talking about how Jarrett was old and would retire soon, but it took on a diffferent meaning because a few months later Hmeil got suspended for drugs, and now he'll never be in a racecar again. He was in commercials with Dale Jr for God's sake.
Actually, Shane Hmiel is back in racing, but not in NASCAR. I saw some results of a USAC Sprint Car race a couple of weeks ago and Hmiel was in it. You'd think a guy like Hmiel whose father was a top crew chief in NASCAR would be smart enough to keep out of the trouble he got in, but one never knows.

It was a stupid move on Shane's part back then but that was during the part of his life that was so stupid...driving in NASCAR races while doing coke. After being clean for three years he has been on the comeback trail in the Sliver Crown Series. Wishing him a speedy recovery.

At the time, Bristol only had one grove. Shane had every right to knock on the bumper of Dale, and if Dale doesn't relent, move him out of the way. Dale knew this, and just couldn't handle giving up the spot. This is racing at the old Bristol, being nice is not part of the deal. God, all the wussy fan posts are a great representations of the failure of today's race fans.

Hmiel was probably high during this race, punting everyone out of his way haha. I like it at times when the chinstraps get too tight, tempers flare, words are said, and their are possibly obscene gestures. However, there's a fine line between being an aggressive driver, and be an extreme asshole behind the wheel. Hmiel obviously, was being an asshole. Then to "salute" a legendary driver like Jarrett, makes me glad Hmiel isn't racing anymore. I wreck him everytime whenever I play NASCAR 06 haha!

I will agree with your statement now, but back then, he acted like a little punk. I think he realized that he wouldn't gain friends being a constant jackass on the track! Plus, after his near life-ending crash, I'm certain that changed his attitude a lot! Trust me people, I felt terrible for Hmiel after his accident. My first comment about him being a jackass was written about a month or so before the accident. I'm glad he's alive, and that he's doing well!

I don't think hmiel had the intention of wrecking jarrett 1 bit. It's racing for christ sake, hmiel couldnt c all those laps car stacking thing up in front of him. If you notice @ 18 second he could have ran completely over jarrett, but he does check up 2 let him regroup. Hmiel gives him an unintentional bump that we see all the time @ bristol, and jarrett wasnt prepared for it and goes around off hmiels hood. But I do add this he was so out of line for the hand gesture...

After this race, they interviewed Hmiel and he said that if Jarret wanted to pay him back, he'd better hurry up because he doesn't have much time left.
Hmiel was talking about how Jarrett was old and would retire soon, but it took on a diffferent meaning because a few months later Hmeil got suspended for drugs, and now he'll never be in a racecar again. He was in commercials with Dale Jr for God's sake.

Actually, Shane Hmiel is back in racing, but not in NASCAR. I saw some results of a USAC Sprint Car race a couple of weeks ago and Hmiel was in it. You'd think a guy like Hmiel whose father was a top crew chief in NASCAR would be smart enough to keep out of the trouble he got in, but one never knows.
