The guy gives a great speech. It must feel great to make eloquent speeches about 'lifting up' the poor and the disadvantaged and the homeless. We can just keep taxing those who produce and giving everything to those who don't...more and more government...more and more taxes. We can do all this and ignore the fact that these socialist policies have failed, every time, everywhere. We'll forget the trillions spent on burnt out, government-welfare cities. Because Mario makes it sound so good.

@angryliberal1984 I'm not so sure about his son, Andrew, but Mario Cuomo would have made a great president and/or supreme court justice, two positions he was considered for by so many. Unfortunately for this country, he was even wiser than us and declined consideration for both. It is a sad fact of current life that the best qualified are driven out of politics by those who HATE and LIE and make up untruths about the best qualifed candidates.

Cuomo is looking backwards NOT forward. Back to the sixties. The war on poverty and the Great Society big Government under Johnson & McGovern was advocating, was disasterous for the poor. Cuomo's parents made it in America through hard work and not relying on the Govenment to help them. I wish Cuomo would look at the lives of his parents and other Italian Immegrants and see that they made it in America, not by the Government helping them, but by Government getting out of their way!

Italian immigrants would never have been able to even enter the country if it wasn't for the government giving them a clear path to do it. The nativist movement at that time was too powerful. When the government "gets out of the way," the rich get richer and the poor get poorer. Although you are partly right, our elected officials do have to know where to draw the line.

Mario Cuomoo never ran for president for 1 simple reason... he was knee-deep in the mafia. Bill Clinton even referred to that in the Gennifer Flowers tapes and had to personally apologize to Cuomo. The NY governor was a crook through-and-through who left the state in tatters.
