you are right abt the heel toe how ever if u heel toe with out double clutch u will be riding the clutch. with double clutch and heel toe combined the rev match is done in neutral. this is the only use for double clutch in a modern car afaik. i do it some times when i feel like showing off to my dad :P.

It used to have to be done all the time in older cars (gearing up and down)until the synchromesh was created. Try double clutching when gearing down to accelerate,get it right and its worth it

Double clutching steps:
- clutch in, shift into neutral
- rev to desired RPM
- clutch back in, shift into the lower gear
- release clutch, hopefully in the proper range on powerband.
