  • I was there for this game and it was and still is the greatest dunk I've ever seen.

  • thug life !

  • Loved Jarvis. One of my all time fav Rebs...not the best ever though but very underrated. Wasn't at this one but watched it live on TV. Me and my dad jumped out of our chairs when he did this dunk.

  • jarvis was a great player and a great guy.

  • keon clark took off with his heel on the ft line and dunked on some guy he also, after a made basket caught the ball out of the net and windmilled it back thru lol keon looked 54 but he had sum amazing dunks! he also blocked a dudes 3 as he took off from inside the key!! too bad he had to blaze so damn much

  • Thats my dad he was the best player and can still play !

  • I think I can read his lips after that dunk....he said, "jive turkey tryna take a foul!"

  • What makes that dunk extra sick was that this was the mid 80's, and college kids just didn't dunk with style like that. Well done.

As for the best UNLV player ever, if LJ's not the best then he's a close 2nd to Reggie Theus. Basnight was my favorite from these teams but wasn't even the best player on this team: That was Freddie Banks or Armon Gilliam.

  • Chick did college basketball?

  • @dolphinbuc ya Chick used to do hella west coast ncaa games i sure do miss Chick!

  • He said TAKE THAT SON!!!

  • the shorts are as sick as the dunk.

  • WAAAAY before Carter did it at the Olympics

  • Patrick Savoy had some unforgettable dunks for Vegas during the 1994-1995 Kebu Stewart led Rebel teams.

  • OMG! Unreal!

  • Loved Jarvis but sorry not the best UNLV player ever.

  • best "play" not "player"!! :P

  • Exactly, Reggie Theus was the best ever UNLV player. And thyen went on to a multiple years NBA All-Star career.

I say this as a LB St. fan who saw many of UNLV's games, thanks to local (SoCal) television from the mid 1970s through early 1990s.

  • @sportsoracle lol theus best ever ? come on son ive been in vegas since mid 70s and have seen ALL the rebel players Reg is my guy but LJ is ther goat rebel no question. we get LJ n got to 2 final 4s and win 1 ring. then LJ went to nba got rookie of the year. LJ = beast

  • UNLV I think (before Larry Johnson) was one the most under appreciated teams in the 1980's. They truly defined 1980's basketball.

  • that's what he gets tryin to be weak and take a charge, messed around and got dunked OVER.

  • talk about elevation

  • I liked Stacey Augmon's half-court alley oop from Greg Anthony in the '90 Championship game myself

  • "send it in, jerome" still destroys all college dunks.

  • he stole the ball took it coast to coast and threw his nuts on dudes face, BEST COLLEGE DUNK period.

  • sickest unlv dunk was anderson hunt to LJ vs Iowa 1990. Alley-oop. LJ had to reach way back to get it and threw it down with authority.

  • the victim still has crotch marks on his face even till today

  • ReBS!!

  • thats crazy...

  • This is the sickest dunk in UNLV history...so overlooked. The player's name is Jarvis Basnight. He had a similar dunk over a player against the Navy Midshipmen (no, it wasn't David Robinson that was posterized!!!).

  • look how he ran back after the dunk...hahaha

  • Perfect calling of the game by Chicky baby! Perfect calls, perfect emotion, just perfect!

  • oh my god, that was awesome!!!

Never heard of him, who is this guy?

It reminds me Vince`s dunk in the olympics.

  • put his nuts on his head..

  • this is the most overlooked dunk of all-time...deifnitely in my top 5 ever!

  • R.I.P Chick
