Heather Watts was flawless but it is so hard to find any film of her dancing and I agree Mr. B was the greatest choreographer that ever lived! He was a genius that is unmatched in any art form! However his infatuation with Susan Farrel must have been strictly sexual because I fail to see her talent compared to others at NYCB
I think one ,the dark one with strong features is Heather Watts, who i auditioned for to get into NYCBs summer school, i got in ,btw, but im pretty sure its her
@tutugirl4life She's a twit. That's why. I guess she didn't want to share the spotlight with these 6. How stupid to deny the public a glimpse from her point of view of what it was like to dance for him.
@tutugirl4life and any others wondering about Suzanne Farrell. Not sure if you know, but she has her own biographical film; Elusive Muse. It is beautiful and well worth purchasing. It has extraordinary clips of her dancing that you cannot watch anywhere else.
Does anyone know WHY Suzanne Farrell wasn't one of the interviewees? I can't imagine that she wasn't invited. I loved seeing her "Elusive Muse," but it would have been fascinating to hear her reflections edited side by side with the other Balanchine ballerinas here.
No one comes close to the power, the beauty, the brilliance that is Maria Tallchief - nor is anyone ever likely to. Mr. B knew that truth and gave his heart to her. It was to his heartbreak that he didn't honor her in their personal life the way she deserved. To his credit, professionally, he did.
We Sooners bow to Madame Tallchief, and to the other four Ballerinas of our state, including Maria's sister, Marjorie. God bless them and may the Winds of Time ever dance to their majesty and grace.
I'm almost positive you're right about it being Suzanne, and I'm pretty sure she's dancing with Peter Martins? It certainly looks like him and I know the two of them danced together often, but alas, I too would have to double check with the documentary.
airbear55 - The dancers at 15 seconds are Suzanne Farrell and Peter Martins in Balanchine's ballet 'Apollo.' Suzanne in the role of Terpsichore and Peter in the title role. The film was taken in Canada, not sure what year. They're pretty young there though.
The music is Serenade for Strings from Mr. B's Serenade, the first ballet he choreographed for his students after arriving in America. It is a beautiful ballet and when the women first go into "turn out" it is very moving, esp if you are a dancer.
I did a report on Maria Tallchoef! In school

That was not Heather Watts it was Suzanne Farrell. They do resemble each other somewhat in that clip of Agon, however...

@aoc36 Please don't call a great artist 'a twit,' it's so disrespectful. Ms Farrell is not obliged to bare her soul for anyone. I respect her for it.
