  • I miss you guys. Great work!

  • how can this song even have any dislikes....

  • you shake your head no, but you really mean YES!

  • This song is easily my favorite. I love the line, " Foam on the creek is like pop and ice cream.

Too bad no other 9th grader I know listens to them.

  • been listening to this sence i was a kid. this really hits home

  • Oh Lord, how I love this song.

  • Trying to learn to play this song... its hard.

  • "Light Up My Room" is my favorite BNL song. <3

  • I miss the 90's :( I'm just glad I had the pleasure of growing up in the greatest decade ever.

  • My favorite thing about this version is that I get to sing harmony with Ed.

  • @congomage high 5 for being 16 :D

  • Very nice! :0)

  • gosh - i don;t have enough words to explain how much i love the barenaked ladies. i literally grew up with them. i can remember my dad always playing either bnl or chumbawamba on the way to school in the mornings, and me and my sister each had our favorite songs we would ask him to skip to. so many great memories. theyve been a household staple as long as i can remember. i feel blessed to have been able to grow up with such awesome music. and to have better taste than most other 16 year olds.

  • @congomage i feel the exact same way. I've grown up with the ladies and continue to appreciate them and their music to this day. every few months i'm come back to these bathroom sessions and fall in love with them all over again xD

  • How do I marry you? Lol ur amazing seriously

  • Great performance! Ed is the man!

This song holds some fond memories for me. Stunt came out when I was a teenager. As teenage years usually are, mine were hard. The Barenaked Ladies and their remarkable music helped me (and still helps me) during the hardest and most difficult times in my life. This song is my favorite track off of Stunt.

  • I hear this, and all is good in my world

  • Any tracks from Gordon and Stunt were what my dad would sing. No matter how depressing our life got, Barenaked Ladies could always bring a smile to his face, and now, this music travels with me everywhere. I'm currently 17, born in '93. My sang me to sleep every night with "What A Good Boy" When people say they have a soundtrack to their life, they don't even know..

  • "there's a shopping cart in the ravine."

wonder if that's a trailer park boys reference?

    they ARE Canadian...

  • @tangledweb79 Stunt came out in 1998, and the Trailer Park Boys didn't debut until a few years later (2001).

  • @bnl4ever damn...still thought it was funny when I heard it.

I didn't discover trailer park boys until just a few years ago.

I still have the original Stunt cd.

  • @tangledweb79

it could've been a trailer park boys reference if the album "Stunt" came out after 2001. it's more likely trailer park boys implemented the line into their show.

  • ed... I know you have a lot of friends/ groupies but if u want to rock out on the guitar around a bond fire and smoke some of mary janes fllowers we have creative artist live close to canada and i LOVE canadian artists..... we should just be barenaked **enid**

  • This song reminds me when I was a little tyke, like 9 or 10, I love this song so much, I'd listen to it over and over on my portable CD player, it was my big brothers and I always got in trouble with him, because we both loved this album.

  • foam on the creek is like pop and ice cream... great imagery

    2nd fave BNL tune

  • Stunning! I bought this album twice now because i've played it sooo many times. Love em and much underated.

  • My absolute favorite song off this album, inarguably one of my favorites by the BNL.

I really think you can hear their inspirations in this song. Often times you can hear their love for the beatles, but I can hear some definite Dylan in here. These guys were ground breakers--comedic musicians with heart. I will sorely miss them.

  • I just got back from a Camp with my School and my counceller had an acoustic guitar in our Tipi and he played this song and I fell in love with it. Faaaaaaaaan-tasic.

  • I love this song and always have.

  • This song just reminds me of my first apartment-just me and my x-boyfriend being poor (with "luxeries we can't afford")and thinking we were invincible and living off love alone.....then you grow up,get married, have babies....and you lose that feeling-reality sets in I guess!wow this song made me feel all that!?lol!

  • reading that combined with this song kind of gave me shivers. XD lol

  • There are so few albums that you can put on and "never get bored" so to speak. lol. stunt is one of those albums.... this reminds me of my freshman year of college....wet behind the ears and ready for anything.

  • bro all i got to say is your good

  • Stunt is one of the greatest albums ever recorded by anyone!!!!

  • agreed

  • doubly agreed! brings back some good memories, from great songs

  • This is the most talented band with the BEST sense of humor. This "Bathroom Sessions" series proves it! They are AWESOME!

  • i love this video. love it. i love the gutiar. i love listening to it. this is amazing.

  • This was the first cd I owned, and this my favorite song on it. Takes me way back.

  • Stunt, as well, was the first CD I ever owned. It's still probably my favorite. Their songs have such true meaning.

  • damn you ed, you're too fucking good.

  • I fucking love this song, I fucking love this album and I Fucking Love This Video.

  • Whenever I drive up by Warden and eglington I see the hydro field make me me think of this song which then gets stuck in my head lol . Same as if Im dealing with heights at work ( I do construction) makes me think of when I fall. Love you guys keep it up !!!!!

  • thats was awesome

  • What is it about this song that just gets to me, tugs at my heart-strings? I've never quite understood it, because the lyrics are... well, great as always, but not absolutely mindblowing. Somehow though, this song hits me every time. Maybe it's the way he sings it.

Also, I agree with you guys... his guitar playing is fantastic, and he is too underrated.

  • I love this. my fave cd too. mmmm that was great.

  • Beautiful

  • their bathroom sessions are such a cool idea

  • Something about this song has always hit me hard.

  • me too. ever since the first time i heard it

  • This is from my favourite CD by this group, Stunt. I think it's wonderful to see Ed on You Tube like this, that he would take the time to do this wow!

  • this and call and answer are my fav. songs by BNL.

    flippin' AMAZING.

  • he has the pick accuracy of a god... I can't do that part at real speed without finger picking

  • I totally agree with you. I have to finger-pick this song too. Ed is really an underrated acoustic gutar plyer.

  • I love this song and always have. It is something about it the lyrics or the music something just brings warmth to me.

    BNL are GOD!!

  • i can play this also on my guitar but a lttle slower

  • all of ed's guitar playing is easy to play if you just want the guitar chords, but he uses insane palming, muting, and scratching techniques. Maybe not as much in this song, but it's still present in the intro. So stop being a hater and throw up some vids of you mastering some songs.

  • Wow this is really good

  • this is my favourite bnl song <3

  • okay so id somebody asks for tab for one more bnl song i swear.... THEY DON'T WRITE HARD MUSIC they're just good musicians which makes bnl one of the best bands ever.

  • Some of their songs are hard. For example, this one. They write hard music and execute it awesomely.

  • Excellent. I wish I could buy it and listen to it away from the computer.

  • you can ... download the vid and convert to an MP3. if u give me ur email... ill send it to you

  • awesome song, does anybody have the tabs for it?

  • This video ought to guide you in playing the song. It's pretty simple, revolving around G, D, and C chords, adding a few 6th and 9th notes, and varying the bass note on the G chord.

  • These guys are awesome. they are the only band I can say, no matter how crappy of day im having, i can put on one of there cd's and almo0st instantly feel a little bit better. BNL Rocks

  • You guys are awesome! You should combine all your bathroom Sessions together and make a video just remember I thought of it first LOL.

Thanks for all the laughs and smiles.

  • So what is this song about? I've been trying to figure that out for a while..

  • being poor, but not needing anything else but love to get by. aww, right?

  • These Guys Are AWESOME! My Fav Song Is "Another Postcard"

  • You have one of the most amazing voices I have ever heard, not to mention this being one of my favorite songs.

  • Love it! Cool.

  • their bathroom sessions are such a cool idea. Love it

  • all the bnl haters should watch the live shows or the bathroom sessions that way they can see that these guys are truly part of the best musicians on the planet. these guys rock. they are always great and never a dull moment in a concert. you can see they always enjoy themselfs on stage

  • let them hate BNL, but Radiohead and BNL are doing something that shows they're musicians. They're making the stuff publicly available in manners that suit them, instead of protecting it all.

  • In 1998-99 I lived in the mountains of Japan with a girl I loved very much, who has since drifted away. It was winter, and we and a Japanese friend made the long drive to Shikoku to visit with his family - through the snowy mountains, and along the sea, and past the ancient temples of Kyoto and the endless urban jungle of Osaka. No one had thought to bring any music except her - a cassette of Stunt that we played over and over and over again.

I don't know if I will ever have a happier memory.

  • what better way than to listen to the songs to keep the memory alive. -.-, (crying)

  • @Nergoil reading your story and hearing this song has brought tears to my eyes, never let go of that love or those memories, they should allways be tucked away gently in your mind for you on those hard days.

  • @Nergoil D':

  • @Nergoil I have many fond memories of Stunt myself. What a great album.

  • @Nergoil That's beautiful.

  • @Nergoil that sounds like a once in a lifetime experience. and what makes it better is that not everyone gets to have a once in a lifetime experience

  • Yep, glad to hear the comments below me agree, and proud to echo the sentiment: By far the most beautiful song you guys have ever written, amazing piece of work.

  • My favorite song for years and years, I love it. The second I first picked up a guitar I knew I was to try and learn it. So that's what I'm doing, it's actually one of the things that got me to first pick up guitar.

  • This song has so many memories for me. I love that you're doing these bathroom sessions. Thank you - from one devoted fan.

  • One of my favorite songs, I am so pleased to see you did a bathroom session on it. : )

I hope to one day see you in concert

    love you guys

  • greatest song you guys ever wrote...

  • amazing man, really great! I lost the Stunt CD and was craving songs off it. Glad you posted these, keep up the awesome work!

  • What a great cover. This guy sounds just like BNL. Just kidding.

  • He is the BNL. That is Ed. They did all these songs in his bathroom I guess just as a cool thing to do for youtube fans. I love 'em :)

  • I know who this is. I was being facetious when I said it was a "great cover".

These guys are a lot of fun. One of the better shows I've seen. Good times.

  • aha, sorry about that.

I've been to a few shows as well. Their stage presence and humor is pretty much unparalleled.

  • I bet it has to do with the acoustics as well :)

  • Request

  • go to the barbershop and tell him your tired of looking like an asshole

    also the song is stupid

  • i'm guessing you're a bald, untalented jerk.

  • hah well i think a head shave would be better than what hes got

  • Why flame someone who is doing something nice for his fans... didn't you ever hear the phrase "if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all?"

Nice job Ed, all us BNL fans truly thank you for these.

  • Ed, great stuff as usual!!there is a great kid I found on You Tube. This guy lives in Alberta, (Medicine Hat) He has an amazing talent for writing and singing his own stuff. He has a small following on the tube, a nice following in the Hat, and I think someone should really look at him. His name is Jeff(rey) Fry and he is really good. Would you look at his stuff, and give an opinion? The Ladies and Alberta ROCKS!

  • Your voice makes me sick

  • Damn Ed, it's so depressing to know that I'll never be as cool as you.
