Does anyone have any idea what tuning he is using here? I am pretty sure it isn't standard tuning....seems dropped by a step and a half or so but with the low E string up a step. Of course I have no idea what I am talking about...just guessing. Help?
@1519element hey my friend, he's playing drop D tuning here (the low E string is tuned a whole step down). notice when he plays the open D chord, he strums openly and that bass note sounds so nice, it's because that bass note is a D note. Also, I know it is drop D because of the chord he plays at 1:42 is a variant of a G chord. The chord shape is usually used for drop D tuning. Enjoy!
@mrazicle8 He, thanks, I actually just figured it out...he tunes the whole guitar down 2 1/2 steps, then drops the low string another step. So I suppose the high E is a B and low low is is now a VERY low A.
@1519element are you sure man? That seems like such a strange tuning. The strings aren't meant to be strung down that many steps. He'd have to buy a whole different set of strings and reserve that guitar for that specific tuning only.
