They really watered this down with Robotech. All the feeling and humor is gone. I like most of the voices better, but the music is no fun and no one has as much personality. Total bummer. Trying to make this more into sci-fi with this grade of animation here is tragic and cheesmo. I liked the photo album outro way better.

@bottlecapsarecool in regard to the uniforms worn by Rick Max and Ben, I think they are color-coded along the same rules as the power rangers of Japan. In Japan, the yellow ranger is often a big, or portly, dud. The blue ranger is smart, but modest in personality. and the red ranger is always the leader.

the battle for macross island was an important backdrop for the storyline, after that it went into a series of space fights leading up to their return to earth and rejoinder to the remaining Robotech Forces on Earth. later parts of the series (as in the multiple series made from the books) will show combat on earth, just be patient.
