  • Our friend Steve Gillette does this song well; his own take on it.

  • Anybody who's complaining about Chris Thile's voice needs to understand that he is one of the greatest, if not THE greatest instrumentalist of this generation, but he does the best that he can with HIS voice. His voice is different from Dan Tyminski's or Steve Gulley's and I think he does rather nicely with what he has. As for Tony, He revolutionized flatpicking thirty years before anybody else even thought about doing the things he was doing. This is an amazing combination!!

  • @gunny7147236 The greatest instrumentalist of this generation?? Oh please......

  • I don't care much for this singer. With his style he should be fronting a boy band, not a bluegrass band.

  • @md65000 You are quite right--Chris Thile's voice is not a bluegrass voice. it is good for other contexts, i think, but not this one.

  • mr rice you are awesome!!!!!!

  • Chris has a good voice - nice version.

  • Tony Rice comes to the watseka theatre watseka illinois on saturday may 7, 2011

  • what a midget!

  • I would hate to be the other guitar player on stage and have to solo after Rice. If I take a break before and he destroys me after I'd be like "Hey what do you want, it's Tony Rice". But to solo after is like saying "Pretty good Mr. Rice, but watch this"

  • Just enjoy the music....don't judge....enjoy the gift of each artist!

  • @crrudin Man, you're exactly right. Don't mind folks being so enthusiastic about any particular musician ( I have my own heros) but to say any certain one is the greatest or best...C'mon. It really boils down to personal taste overall and is so subjective you'd have to qualify why you'd say it. Some are better at certain styles...apples and oranges, right? So it gets very silly ranting. Admire each for what they bring to the music overall. To say one's the greatest insults other greats.

  • Chris Thile has chops, but he doesn't respect the music. He wants it to be about him.

  • hooah. i wanna see these guys so bad. tony rice will always be the bamf.

  • Tony probably wants to take over and sing it right!

  • @TruegrassBoy I had a mandolin teacher who once said to me that Tony Rice was the "just about the best bluegrass singer." It's taken me ten years to realize how wise he really was on that one. It's too damn bad that Tony blew his voice out.

  • Someone kill that sound man.

  • The kid singing is chris thile and is the finest mandolin player bar none including Sam Bush . All three of them are world class musicians .

  • @heather89502 yeah, for sure technique and knowlege, but Sam's still my fave...he has the sound and the soul!

  • That guy singing sounds like he has a little sugar in his blood.

  • Ahahahaha the guy on the guitar after Tony is like shit how do i top that.

  • right? haha

  • lol funny stuff, hate that Tony had to put up with this...

  • Tony Rice is such a boss.

  • I knew that from the title of the video! Tony sure has that Tony Rice techniqe down! He's the greatest ever on the flat top guitar no doubt about it!

  • Big man Tony! Pick on a kid why don't ya?lol

  • I used to love Nickel Creek, now I've moved on to the real stuff of Monroe, and Flatt and Scruggs. That is where it is!

  • Indeed brother.

  • This sounded like the gay version of Molly and Tenbrooks....

  • Comment removed

  • I agree with donnyaldridge
