  • I cried just now like it was yesterday again.

God I wish they still wrote great scripts for great actors like the old days :-(

  • This is so sad:-(

  • I hate how GH recycled this story for Jake's death. It was like, bam Jocelyn was sick so quick, and Carly went straight for the kids kidneys. No memorial was held, Liz & Lucky got limited scenes afterword. Jax didn't even thank Liz or was all that involved. They probably were going to kill Liz but fan outcry stopped them so they handed us, (since it was from the golden era) fools gold.

  • @Calflym I know right? That's like disrespecting the Maxie getting BJ's heart storyline.

  • Was thinking of this while watching as Jake Webber was put on life support, and they want his Kidney for Josselyn. Soo sad :( Thanks for posting.

  • wow that made me bawl my eyes out very sad story :( and very good acting

  • most amazin soap moment

  • Wow after all these years that scene is still a tearjerker. I 'm crying like a baby. Best years of Gh hands down. I miss that era great storytelling at its best.

  • Felicia makes me sob EVERY time...

  • The best scenes from the best story GH has ever done. It's pathetic what GH has been reduced to nowadays with all the mob violence. This is CLASSIC soapl! No show has ever done a more gut-wrenching tale of loss and hope. No story on any show has every made me cry as much or as hard as this one did. Poignant, devastating, and all around superb. All of the actors involved in this storyline deserved Emmy's, but of course none of them got any. Whatever...

  • I cry every single time I watch this!!!! When Tony bends down to hear the heart beating...omg I lose it!!!

  • wow to this day i cry everytime i watch this, tobad GH will never be this good

  • OMG...FIRST TIME I C THIS...OMG! =,(

  • jesus where are the writers i mean the good writers of GH...they had such good storylines back then and now look it's all about mobsters..don't get me wrong i still am a fan!

  • I was 14 when this aired, I remember not even being able to concentrate in school cause i just wanted to run home and see these episodes. I had my cousin's wedding the weekend this was all airing and remember crying during her wedding cause i was thinking of all this!!

  • Ugh Frisco was sexy.

  • WOW!!

  • i didnt even watch gh when this storyline aired but everytime i see clips of it on youtube it makes me literally sob.. suuch good writing and acting

it's a shame they dont still have stories like this

  • I wasnt even born when this happened. I have been watching general hospital for10 years and I think this is the best story line. I cry everytime I watch it.

  • this is the best story GH ever did

  • The last part when Tony goes up and listens to the heart beat is one of the most powerful and famous moments in GH HIStory.

"BJ's Heart" is one of the most emotional and moving storylines GH has ever done.

  • Why weren't there any Emmy nominations that year for this storyline??

  • @Muggle423 There WEREN'T? I am beyond flabbergasted.

  • @Muggle423

There were actually several Emmy nominations - and wins. Brad Maule was nominated for Best Actor, Jackie Zeman for Supp. Actress (both lost). The show itself won for Best Drama and Best Writing.

  • @GenXorcist1976

But they got nominated in 1995. BJ's heart storyline took place in April/May '94 unless the Emmys took place before the storyline happened and they were just nominated the following year. ?

  • @Muggle423

The Emmys are always presented the year AFTER the work is done... for example, the eligibility period for a 1995 Emmy is Jan '94-Jan '95. They can't possibly present awards for 1995 when only half the year's work is done, make sense? The only major '94 Emmy GH got that I recall was for Sharon Wyatt's Tiffany (Supp. Actress) because of the Bobbie/Tiffany battle over baby Lucas.

  • @GenXorcist1976 OIC. Yeah, I just go to IMDB to see the General Hospital Emmy nominations.

  • @Muggle423

Excuse me, Ms. Wyatt was NOMINATED... she unfortunately didn't win. Actually, that was Susan Haskell (OLTL) 1st win - VERY much deserved for Marty's 1993 Spring Fling S/L.

  • I wish they still wrote like this. And brought back Frisco and Felicia. This Sonny mob crap has to go.

  • Yea, it really does. I mean, It was kinda cool before, but that is only becuase I liked Claudia, the part where her and Carly were in the hospital was pretty good. It seems like 3 of the mob members are going to leave the mob, atleast hat is what they said. The show is called GENERAL HOSPITAL, not freakin...Italian Mobsters. Thats why we have "The Godfather." Thank you.

  • "Daddy loves you" let the tears flow. It was so sad when Tony died too.

  • @dramamole omg when he said that I started crying

  • JMO but GH has a couple who can do this stuff now named Spixie. Spinelli already means a lot to kids with Autism or similar issues. So it's a natural to use Spixie in an epic s/l like this. Both Bradford and Kirsten would do an amazing job.

  • one of the most moving story lines EVER!!

  • What a story. Make me miss Frisco, Felicia, Tony and Bobbie alot. Maxie lives on still with BJ's heart.

  • I don't think that there has EVER been a more powerful and moving storyline on GH than "BJ's heart".

There are only 2 other storylines that rank with this one: "Stone's AIDS" and "Elizabeth's Rape".

GH during the 90's were the LAST great years.

  • @GlowInTheDark707 Do you see how they are redoing BJ's Heart? With Jakes Kidney! I agree this story line makes me bawl like a baby, as i am sure the new one will too. But can they not come up with new ideas?

  • @GlowInTheDark707 True, True and True. OLTL was the one

that really took on all the social issues, but I gotta say GH stepped their game up in he 90s. This was the end of the golden era.

  • WOW I remember this story. GH remarkable during the 80's and 90's. How I long for these classics.

  • It made me ball my eyes out! What great storytelling!

  • When Tony listens to BJ's heart in Maxie...General Hospital needs to right more stories like this!!!

  • Why don't they write like this anymore! I still so remember Tony holding BJ. It was so sad!

  • Words can not describe this gift that you posted.

  • This is the reason why GH has more Emmys for Outstanding Daytime Drama than any other daytime Soap! WOW!..This is the stuff great Soaps are made off!

  • You're absolutely right. This is one of the most memorable storylines from the show that ranks right up there with "Stone's AIDS", "Elizabeth's rape",...etc.

  • that was so sad

  • I bawled my eyes out!

  • I just cried. Omg... :(

  • OMG, I cried!

At the very last second of the clip the one who says "My Cousin BJ gave me my heart" that looks like one of the actresses that played Jessica on Passions!

  • Danica Stewart played Maxie for about 4 months in 2002.

  • other than sams baby dieing this was one of the saddest story ever..it was so touching and heartfelt omg..

  • Stone's dying was the only other storyline that made me cry. Sam's baby was sad but this and Stone's death are the two that always bring me to tears. Especially Felicia's reaction.

  • One of the best storylines ever on GH. It still moves me to tears.

  • wow that story gets me every single time. I remember crying like a baby when this was happening

  • GH just doesn't have great storyline like this anymore!!! So afraid to take risks, show real human emotion!! Real turmoil.....

  • Wow....it is just as powerful today as it was then. This was, imo, the best storyine in soaps ever. The scene of Tony listening to his daughter's heart beat on in Maxie is one of the most powerful scenes ever. He captures the comfort that her heart lives on and the heartbreak that she is gone so wonderfully.

  • I wish GH would have SL like that again. That was beautiful!!! Now there's not one sweeps that goes by where it's not about the mob or has the mob in it!! I'm tired of it.

  • It was so sad for Bobbie and Tony to loose a daughter but it was a very great gift for them to give their daughter's heart to Maxie because their daughter BJ was dying. A touching thing. They will be blessed for it. We should all put down to be doners for when we die. Who knows if we save someone's life in a HUGE way!

  • The most emotional storyline I ever saw on any soap. I just can't imagine how hard it was for the actors involved to play something like this. The tears they all had were real, and the performances were the best in daytime history. What a great story, even now, 15 years later, it makes me well up with tears.

  • What a great video,I'll never forget that story

  • This storyline still has the power to reduce me to tears even after all these years ... heartbreaking

  • well that just made me ball like a little baby...sitting at my desk at work :(

  • Why can't GH write storylines like this anymore? I am crying my eyes out just for that clip - that's when GH actually had character driven storylines that touched on family, friends, the hospital...everything but the mob violence that has taken over GH today

  • Oh my gosh, I forget how great GH was then.

  • I'm sobbing like a baby here. Brad Maule was so completely robbed of an Emmy that year. This is still the saddest scene I've ever seen on this show.

  • I cry all over again

  • A beautifully written storyline! The show is not nearly as good now.I wish they would put the drama back into daytime drama! :(

  • i loved this story line- this was when I actually did watch the show- does anybody know why the bj dies and maxie gets her heart clips have been removed?

  • I am bawling all over again. They were all fantastic in this storyline. Jacklyn Zeman, Jack Wagner, Kristina Wagner...but especially Brad Maule. What a great actor he was, even when his character had crap for a storyline or nothing to do. He shined when they'd give him something with substance. What a tearjerker.

  • I just can't believe that after all this time, I can watch this and still cry and get so emotional.

  • so, here i am crying like a baby...great scene

  • I cryed and cryed when I saw this.

  • I remember crying alot when this episode aired - it still brings tears to my eyes. Great writing! I stopped watching the show for the last few years & just started watching again the last couple of months. The writing isn't as good now, but I have gotten drawn back in to the characters. Still love Luke, Jason, Jax...don't like the new Maxie or Carly, don't like the Kate Howard character at all. Love Spinelli & his weird way of talking.

    Thanks for sharing this video!

  • That was a great series of clips, but the end transition reminds me of how the show had already gotten so bad by the 10000,th episode.

I had stopped watching about a couple of months after Stone died. Dribs and drabs a while after. I can't even recognize the show or any other ABC soap anymore.Sad

  • Excellent vid ... saddest storyline ... great performances by all involved ... I'm glad today Maxie's character is one of the strongest on the show ... afterall she's living for two (& w/georgie gone - three)

  • The GH today would never write a story like this. I cannot even stomach the show now. It's sad because I can't not watch this clip and not remember how sad the week was when this all aired. If only could bet back Claire Labine and get back to character driven writing and not the daytime version of Sopranos

  • I can remember this storyline like it was yesterday. I was on;y 13 but I can remember running home from school to watch. It was so sad but excellent acting!! I love this show, i miss all the old actors though!! They need Frisco back!!!

  • This was such a beautiful storyline for organ donation. This was superb performances by all and kudos to the writers who wrote this story. It's a shame that they don't write the soap like this anymore.

  • Oh SO glad I found this. This is awesome to relive again (even though terribly sad). I so wish I had kept this back in the day. Best TV storyline EVER, to me anyway.

  • oh my. i was so wrong, this is one of the saddest storyline in gh history!

  • All these years later it still gives me chills...

  • GOD I MISS THE OLD GH!!!!! It was the BEST soap back in the day!

  • just phenomenal. was Tony's BJ's biological dad?

  • Yes but Bobbie was not her mother. Tonya was her mother.

  • Bobbie was BJ mother and TOny was her father for sure. No need to worry about that. They also had a son later. :-) Smile

  • Actually Tanya, Tony's first wife was Bj's mother.

  • Yeah, Bobbie wasn't BJ biological mother but raised BJ's as hers. As Murky25 pointed out, Tanya was BJ bio mom.

  • Err, Tania. You can check out BJ's birth by typing in GH 1986 BJ's birth or something similar it is also over in the related video's section.

  • WOW! I was only 14 years old when this storyline aired and I'm 27 now and I remember this like it was yesterday... I taped it and watched it over and over back then but I accidentally taped over it and so I'm so happy someone posted this clip. Thank-you!

  • Damn this made me cry my eyes out!!! Who the hell posted this? Men aren't supposed to cry and I did dammit!!

  • Another reason why Claire Labine was the last great head-writer GH had....

  • Absolutely one of the best storylines of all time....on any soap opera!! GH needs to have writing like this again.

  • In all of my years of watching GH, this storyline has resonated the most and - to me - is the finest example of creative genious ever broadcast on daytime. It still brings tears to my eyes. Kudos to Claire Labine, Head Writer at the time. We need her back!

  • FRISCO!

  • This is unbelievable. GH was at it's best and this was one of it's best played out storylines. why cant they go back to the great writing like this, even though it was such a sad storyline.

  • Oh...my...gosh...

  • I remember watching this episode. It broke me DOWN. Extremely powerful story. I don't know if anyone could have stayed dry eyed watching that day. GH was worth so much back then.

  • this video is so sad. i never saw the actual story but can now see why it has been such a big deal ever since.

  • Such a great, powerful storyline...That conjured up every emotion and yanked at the heartstrings...Still makes me misty-eyed after all these years

  • I can 't beleve thats Peter from Melrose Place

  • I can 't beleve thats Peter from Melrose Place

And Much Later Nick Marone from the Bold & The Beautiful.

  • Who was the actress that played BJ?

  • ooo mmyyy goooosshhh I can't even breathe I am crying SO hard!

  • oh the old times I miss this!

  • thats really really sad. and whats even sadder is that they made maxie into some biotch with no morals! they couldve at least made her the kind person since she was literally given a heart (know what im sayin?).

  • you said it.

  • that was so sad

  • omg I remember watching the flashback when it first aired.

  • I can beleve that peter from melrose place

  • Okay must stop Cryyyying...

  • thanks so much for posting this!

it makes me so sad every time.
