i also agree with the guy at the end of the video, ive never heard the word gamey be used for salmon lol. btw, wouldnt it be better to do this when it's alive when the heart is beating faster?
whats the process from catching>killing>bleeding a fish? when i was younger i couldnt effectively twist its neck to kill it (smaller fish) and i dont want to run into that problem again, its kind of awkward.
@gantonski you dont kill it first. if you did that the heart would not help with the pumping out of the blood. the heart still beats this way helping to pump the blood out of the fish
the blood has most of the flavor. you would fail cooking school. the reason you sear a steak is to keep the blood and the juices in so that the meat is tender... you bleed a fish so that it dies fast and doesnt suffer for too long
@check2wice Dummy. Fish blood is not good. Its not a cow. What fish have you ever eatin that had red juices coming out when on your plate. Dont speak.
@FishingMaster27 who told you its not right? let me tell you something you dont know. that is a hatchery raised fish not a native to the river system. hatchery fish should be taken from the river that is what they are there for. number two is (you can even ask O.D.F.W AND W.D.F.W) the fish and game people actually prefer that roe baring females should be taken so that hatchery fish are not breeding with the native fish creating hybrids and destroying the native gene pool. sorry but you are wrong
anybody complaining the best way to do it is to spike the brain first, this causes less thrashing about and less adrenaline being released as the fish realises 'shit im not in water' after the brain spike you bleed the gills and chuck into a bucket of salt water (if salt water species) with ice in it. this makes for a perfect eating fish.
BTW awesome technique, i always just cut vertical from the base up towards the spine, but this seems to be more effective.
great video, I'v seen pepole bleed fish withiout knocking it out, and just ripping the gills immediately once got in the boat. that shit bothers me. it seems your method you at least waited until the fish was somewhat out of it.........maybe I am mistaken but nice job
@baconator490 If the water's full of poisonous bacteria, why eat the fish in the first place? Wouldn't it accumulate in the meat itself? Maybe if you brought it to a boil, it'd kill the bacteria... Maybe.

catch... cut... bleed...it dies faster with a beating heart than knocking it unconsious then letting it drown in oxygen.

I wonder if you could make a soup out of the fish blood or something? I have heard of "Duck blood soup", which is a polish dish...

@bobbyraymedina Baconator490's the one who said that the fish is full of poisonous bacteria.
Now that I think about it, I'd be more worried about pollutants than bacteria.
