  • Brill movie - had never heard of it before.

  • Good movie! Wish someone would also upload the movie "Eulogy"!

  • Sad,sad, sad!! dysfunctional families, we are all out there. Wonderfully done. Miranda depicted learned helplessness so well. Thanks for another great film.

  • THE WOMBE ACTS LIKE A SHEILD! XD

    i love this film :)

  • a great movie..i love it! ~_~

  • What a good movie i just wish there was a little more

  • Thanks for uploading this little gem.

  • the father kills himself in the end of book by jumping off the Falls. The movie was good but didn't explain a lot of things and I could see how this movie would confuse people who didn't read the book.

  • i like the sisters they seem kool

  • Wow, this movie makes no sense to me...

How old were the girls? Is Norma a lesbian? Why was Lou so hateful towards her father and vise versa? Was it just because of that war thing? Speaking of which, what was that bomb shelter thing all about!?!? What really happened to the baby? Was their mother psycho? Why? Because of the father? Why couldn't she leave the house? Why wouldn't she go into the church!?!? WTH.

...This has got to be one of the most confusing movies I've ever seen. o_O

  • The girls seem to be teenagers. Yes/No no one know i dont even think she knows shes lesbo. Because she blamed him for the boys death and her mums weirdness. And he thinks shes such a brat and so annoying and hateful.Bomb shelter was him "trying" to keep them safe cus he didnt protect the little boy. And cus he was in war.

  • thanks

  • thankz .. it helped me understand many things...

  • read the book

  • Comment removed

  • See the movie again in about 5-10 years & you'll understand it.

  • in the book the father jumps into the falls

  • A fitting ending for such a bastard!

  • If he (the father) jumped!

  • @koln1996; he does jump, at the end in the book.the book is way better than the movie.there were too many things left out :[

  • wow, that was good!!

  • One really gets drawn into this dysfunctional family's troubles as if they were one's own. The Canadians turn out a lot of good stuff in both their languages, but it's usually quite understated like this unlike south of the 49th parallel. The tyrannical father and the zombie-like mother were a toned-down version of the homicidal colonel and his automaton of a wife in "American Beauty".

  • AMAZING MOVIE!!

  • So what exactly was the deal with the end? Like what were they talking about? And did the brother die or was it all misunderstood? Good movie though. Far better than most U.S. films (and I live there) Canada rocks though! Long live Katie and the guy who plays the dad!

  • gets more into it in the book

  • Ok. I mean I got most of it. Just the fact I didn't know about this until it was posted or read the nook. But it's a good movie though.

  • very good movie, just saying if you're interested the book gets into it on a different sort of level, for instance it's mostly Lou's perspective which gets lost in the movie. They did a wonderful job on it though (they only had something like 21 days to film it, and it was in the works for 10 years before they could finally take a solid crack at it)

  • Yeah you're right. 21 days huh? That has to be a record and it would have been great even in a matter of months. But that jsut shows how great it really was to be able to be filmed that short. It's a sad but funny movie at the same time. Really these people deserve Hollywood fame more than alot of the actors here. Many are good, but there's definately some that get more credit than they deserve while I really have to throw out alot of movies to get these people known here. THey deserve much more

  • @balrog13571 read the book! its way better than the movie! :D

this is a great movie though, regardless :)

  • What is the first song called?

  • Play the laugh at 1:07 over and over again and I dair you not to laugh.

  • I really enjoyed the powerful characters and themes here.

I was just disappointed that the father's abuse wasn't resolved or revenged in any way.

  • That was an incredible film! Thanks so much for posting, the acting was brilliant.

  • Thank you for sharing this! :D I enjoyed it.<3

  • MAN THAT WAS GOOD!!!!

  • They need to have more Canadian movies in America. Shows too, I just saw a season of a Canadian show and it was really awesome!! I can't wait to see the rest. I've liked all the movies you've posted so far, especially Last Casino. Thanks!! This one was sad, but good.

  • I liked it! :) Sad, but good. Thankees for uploading!

  • Sure. God bless you scott smith for putting katharine isabelle and miranda richardson in the same movie!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D

  • I know, right?! :D :D

  • HECK YIZZLE!!!!!

  • Thank You Katharinelover4life .

    :-)

  • Thanks for uploading :) I like dit very much :)

  • My only problem with this movie is that some of the dialog is modern, not from the period

  • Why thank ya. Glad someone enjoyed it as much as me! :D
