I suppose it's just a matter of getting your eyes used to working at those speeds.
I worked my way upwards in Speed mods:
1.5x for 2 weeks
2.0x for 1 week
C300 for 1 month (When I found about Stepmania))
C350 for around a week?
C450 Since then.
