  • i'm only 20 and i heard this on my mums vinyl when i was about 10! absolutely love it!

  • I love this song, awesome beat, awesome melody & lyrics!

  • The Reflections all hailed from the Redford, Livonia, Michigan area? The same area that the Shades Of Blue are from! Great oldie classic from the 60's I love this music.

  • Alwys got the grears in my 1963 Chevy when listening to this song!!

  • Great tune. Loved watching my daughter try to keep up with the clapping.

  • I'm only 16 and I love this song, this music and everything about the 60s.. i wish stuff in the charts now was like this!! <3

  • I was so obsessed with this song when it came out, played it over, and over again! Thanks for sharing.

  • Love this song first heard it going 80 miles an hour in a 1957 Pylmouth convertable going to the tropical treat in Stowe Pa from Gino's in Pottstown Pa back in the day the guy driving and his girls favorite song.

  • what a concept, if you want to be in a singing group, you must have a good singing voice.

    wow

  • i wish these guys had more songs for me to listen to

  • @michaelmayer94 If you want more songs by the Reflections ask them. DId you know these guys are still performing and going on tour?

  • LOVE and can remember dancing to this, when I was 10yrs old..oooo my god..ty for the post..(*-=

  • What a beautiful love song of the past!

  • This is is my shit!

  • This is the preshow song to our 1960s Romeo and Winifred. :) It's not that weird to hear someone yell "Just like Romeo and Winifred!"

  • Wonderful always loved this little gem..reminds me of rushing home from school to watch American Bandstand...

  • Wonderful

  • Our love's gonna be written down in history A-Just like Romeo and Juliet I'm gonna buy her pretty presents Just like the ones in a catalog Gonna show (gonna show) how much I love Let her know (let her know) one way or the other Our love's gonna be written down in history Ah, all right, now, I'm speculatin' Wonder what tomorrow's gonna really bring If I don't (if I don't) find work tomorrow It's gonna be (gonna be) heartaches 'n' sorrow Our love's gonna be destroyed like a tragedy
  • Bravo!!!

  • Great! Thanks for posting!

  • Men used to perform in ties and suits while go go girls gyrated, just like romeo and juliet. Like hell.

  • @ezramead This was before "go go girls." Listen to the music and get over the fashion, fool. This song represents a lost time in pop music where desire, a killer melody, big beat and a great arrangement could take you to the top. Classic 60s pop like "Time Won't Let Me" by the Outsiders, "Hot Fun in the Summertime" by Sly and the Family Stone, "California Girls" by the Beach Boys and "Temptation Eyes" by the Grass Roots (and many others) are AMAZING 3-minute sonic gems.

  • Awesome song. One of my all-time favorites. The only thing I'd like to hear is a remix/reissue that brings the organ track a little more to the front.

  • Reflections are cool! Great to find all this great music on you tube. I'm a soul/blues singer from Australia. Check out my chanel, I have songs such as Sam Cooke's "A change is Gona come." and Hope you enjoy what I do.

Long Live soul and Motown! -John Mc

  • THANK YOU....GREAT CLIP.

  • Detroit Soul Rocks My Soul!!! simon4186

  • love this song great sound thanks

  • love this group who had this top ten hit way back in the late 60.s

  • Far out... this is my era. I was 14, living in Mobile, Al. watching American Bandstand.

Thank you for post these memories.

  • If you can't say that this is a 'fun' song and can move your body in some way then you shouldn't be listening to this song!

  • I am 12 and all the girls in my year hav to sing this song in the school concert so when ever i hear this song i fell like leso

  • Really good song, I especially love the beginning.

    Many thanks.

  • Thank > YOU < ^^

  • Man I love this song.Sure miss 60"s sounds.

  • @LSH20101 Lol - haven't got all the nuances down about how I can comment without attaching myself to someone else's comments, but you are right, this is a straightforward no excuses blast of talent that will never have to apologize for itself.

  • Tops!!!!! No other explanation needed!!!!

  • my dads friends dads band. i love this song

  • One of my faves from my childhood!

    Lov`n OLSKOOL!!

    ((Hugs)))

  • GROOVEY TUNE...MUSIC THEN WAS SO GREAT. I'M GLAD TO HAVE GROWN UP IN THAT TIME...COULDN'T IMAGINE BEING A CHILD IN THESE TIMES,YUK

  • Heard this for the first time tonight on the radio. Had to add it to my 60's folder.

  • Out of sight! I was 13 going on 14, in the eighth grade and living in Hawaii when this song was on the charts! I enjoyed listening to it on KPOI, KORL and KUMU radio staions back then! The age of innocence and the teen years! Woo hoo!

  • Some fans thought this was a bit to "Bubblegum" for their taste. Me? I just see a full floor in the 70's where we played it in the Midlands. Always happy, always requested. ALWAYS played. And "Adam and Eve". Anyone out there looking for a time travel guinea pig? Email me son, I'm your man.

  • Please explain why anyone would 'dislike'?

  • I can't get enuff of this--I was 15 in 1964--the memories all rush back when I play it--I still luv you Suzie :-)

  • you sounded great BACK then.....and still do! (as seen on your PBS special!) thanks for the feel-good song!!!!!!

  • It's a fun song, but it also points out that a relationship can't survive on love alone. I've known relationships that broke up because of financial problems.

  • Wonderful song. I was in 6th grade, and this was a huge hit on our AM stations WQAM and WFUN (Miami, Fla.)

  • Wow! This is Boss. Uptight and out of sight.

  • Along with under the board walk these were the first two 45 records I purchased.

  • Im 14 and i love this music, i should have been born in the 50's

  • @MFinn115 and be old like me? no way....be happy that you have the net, and can experience all the music of the ages

btw, do a google search for the pop chronicles....great 55 hour retrospective of the history of pop music from the 50s to the 70s....its brilliant

  • funny..this is the essence and everything you want in a song...nothing better!!!

  • I think Danny is the one who looks like George W. lol!

  • I get high listening to the oldie station; it makes you feel so happy.

  • dorky; yeah...all big feet, knock knees, braces pimples...Hai Karate on the adam's apple - dancin' with a girl and feelin' like a million bucks! sigh...........

  • Not been on U tube for a few years - this is still an ace song

  • This tune peaked at Number 6 on the Billboard Hot 100 in June of 1964 - it was such a huge single in Detroit, Berry Gordy, founder of Motown Records, sought to buy up the Golden World/Ric-Tic/Wingate record franchises (but not most of its artists)-

  • Simply Brilliant.

  • Great song..big hit here in Louisville in 1963...love the falsetto at the end!!!

  • I know this song because Sha Na Na did it on their TV show back in the 1970's.

  • great song

  • played at northern soul discos in the 1970's...lovely...thankyou.

  • dig it daddy-o they were the living end baby.

  • anyone knows where i can find the version

by Michael and the Messengers ?

  • Spring '64, during the Beatles invasion, a small classic, from Detroit Doo-Wop at it's best. I loved this one & never, ever tired of it. Wolfsky9, 64 y/o.

  • My 11yr old son loves this song...especially trying to keep up with the clapping. He might need a white dinner jacket for Christmas...

  • My 11yr old son loves this song...especially trying to keep up with the clapping. He might need a white dinner jacket for Christmas...

  • Look real close , Ray looks like a very young George W. Bush!

  • @TheEldoradoKid oh God not George

  • @TheEldoradoKid I think if George Dubya and Michael Imperioli from The Sopranos had a baby, Ray is what it would look like

  • @gonzoredux Oops! I meant Danny! Rays name was just closer to Dannys face. Now check him out, you'll see what I mean.

  • Love it! :D this is it

  • I love oldies!

  • my grandpa was in this game, his names phil castrodale . hes still got singing skills

  • Love this song! It reminds me of when I was a teenager and my mom listened to the oldies station. Back when the oldies stations played good music!

  • Loved it then...lovin' it now! Thanks so much!

  • Great song!! Love it!!

  • Several of the Funk Brothers, who played on all the Motown hits, are playing on this track. You can hear a bit of the Motown sound on this.

  • what a fantastic song and vocal group. now this is music. songs back in the 50-60's were peaceful, fun, simple and has a messege to it. with today era of music, its all the same and there's no need to put drugs or swears into songs. i love the oldies songs and i wish people who can sing, will start making songs like these today.

  • I love this song.

The Reflections could sing, reminds me of better times.

    Many thanks.

    LJD

  • I'm 13 and I like the oldies as well as the music today :) x

  • I'm 20 years old and I love oldies more than I like music today.

  • Jersey Shore '65...my uncle Andy had Shore Bar, it's still there in Highlands below the lighthouse, this song was playing on the radio in our family '59 Chevy Brookwood as we went down to visit, had a great time on the beach, I remember the sand was very hot that bright day. Later we sat at the bar and had cherry cokes and beer nuts, no "PC Police" back then to kick the kids out of the tavern. Great times!

  • theeldoradokid- I envy you!! UGH, I wish I grew up in the late 50's-mid 60's. :-)

  • I'm 19 and have loved this music since I've been 5. I think it's safe to say that I should have been born in the 60's.

  • @jkapster1 lmao ! same ! i loves oldies and im 15 woot !

  • @jkapster1 lol yea i am the same and im 20 this is one of my old time faves ^_^ xx

  • @jkapster1 On behalf of those born in the 60's, we officially give you an honorary 60's Birth Certificate for having good taste in music!

  • blue eyed soul at its best

  • love this song...very peppy and happy.

  • Summer 1964 WABC Radio skipped to Blackstone Va at nite. This song on the car radio at the Grove Drive IN make out partys. What a great memory. Billy Robertson Covington La now a little older

  • I wonder why ppl always compare musical genres, just enjoy the music. I listen to Bach, Mozart , Opera and I never compare it to 60s or 70s music, for the simple fact that it is different . I love Motown and 80 dance tunes, Reggae, Calypso, Salsa and on and on. Even kids banging on pot covers is music to my ears. Every era has their own sound and there is always good music to be found no matter what year it is. Enjoy the music stop comparing!!

  • Love this song for some reason.

  • This music is pure joy.I remember walking around and singing this song to myself. I remember singing lots of the songs from this time to myself. I remember singing this and lots of songs from this time with my friends. I don't think I have ever heard or seen any kid walking around singing Rap or Hip-Hop alone or with friends. Kinda sad, ya know?

  • This song had to compete with The Beatles; 6 monthsearlier, & it would have been a zillion seller! An all-time classic, from a simpler, better time. I know: I was there. Wolfsky9, 63 y/o.

  • GO 60's MUSIC!

I don't know how they write great songs like this...

  • Kinda describes today....doesn't it?...except for the drive-in (RIP) too bad, the good ole' days were the greatest, with the greatest of tunes ever...no lie...todays music is just fine for the youth of today , just not me....lovin' them oldies

  • maverick1956hk thanks im with you. you call todays music NOISE> I got better words but youre on my side. i know where youre coming from. RAP oh i wont commrnt. this is a great song. i been condemned by younger yung without mercy for defence of these old songs. Too bad. THEYRE GREAT no plugfor Tony the tiger Folks. TOMKES doo wop rocknroll historian . i know my music

  • got to dance like a dork to this song lol...its a requirement :D

  • So right, Ig70742. It's absolutely impossible to sit (or stand) still to this one.

  • haha sweet :)

  • @lg70742 You've got that right!

  • @lg70742 That makes two of us....

  • @lg70742

    You're right - I just did - while cleaning my kitchen - I must've looked like a total dork !!!!

  • @lg70742 Yep, doing it right now. Moving head like a pigeon. I look like a real twit. Even the cat ran away. Good thing I live alone really. LOL

  • Good song

  • ROMEO & JULIET with the Reflections simple yet powerful. this doo wop/rocknroll historian approves. i wish we had more greats like this. look at the songs we got today. thanks guys. TOMK

  • Yeah, I tell my kids most of the songs today are just NOISE.

  • Racked my brain for 10 mins to recall band name so I could search and find this video! Thx! Rock On Rolla! My kid sister married an engineer grad student she met there at a dance in the 70's.

  • just 17 crusin tweedy blvd in south gate with the radio blasting!!! YEA

  • Tony is so cool! Love the feel of this song. Wish it would have lasted. The Beatles were the greatest band ever...but after.....nothing but %$#@!

  • The problem here is: music changes to suit the generation that creates it. So just because music after The Beatles (God rest John and George), wasn't (in your OPINION) as good as it was before and during, doesn't mean that that's true. Try to open your mind up a little, you'd be less miserable that way.

  • There's good music to find in every decade since the 50's. The percentage has just continually shrunk since the 60's.

  • Great song. like the music.

  • great stuff...

    last freat do wop song....

  • Ohh Woow What a nice song, I love this kind of music <3<3<3 God bless :)

  • Freddie Gorman must have needed the

money when he sold the rights to this song to the Reflections management,

    'cause the Voicemasters coulda' done

    it better. Go figure.

  • great song, 15 and i love all these oldies

  • Ace song, great beat, takes me back to teenage years, still love it now,

  • KLUV 98.7 Dallas has played this since 1987 when they become an oldies station. and they are CBS now.

95.3 Fm KXMO Cuba Missouri and 100.3Fm KUKU Willow Springs Missouri. do a fine job of playing this super hit of the

    60's.

I remember this song when I was a kid getting in on KTTR 1490 AND sometimes on the long gone KCLU 1610 both stations in Rolla Missouri.

  • great 5*****

  • Great song!

  • I don't know where i've heard this song before, but I really like it.

  • factory girl maybe

  • I used to have this song on a 33 record when I was very young. A dime store special I guess. It had various artists on it. Good stuff! :-)

  • KRLA1110 AM was great then they got Art Laboe

KRLA was never the same .

Now KRTH is doing the same thing.,

Save KRTH CBS Get it together.

  • Super romantic real emotional love song!

  • Comment removed

  • great song still love it

  • so do I! what other songs do you like?

  • Doo-wop! I want to be a jazz / swing musician <3

  • This song came out while I was in college, and I thought it was really great, although it was hard to tell over low quality AM car radio. I really appreciate the picture of the group - I never knew what they looked like.

  • Hearing this reminds me of being a kid and watchjing my big brother leave to the Marines and then Vietnam. Wow, what a clear memory. I miss my brother. He loved this song. What great days those were. Los Angeles was nice back then.

  • To the many requests we get for the tricky lyrics in

    "Just Like Romeo and Juliet"

    here they are-

    ....'talk about Love and Romance

just wait 'til I get myself straight

    I'm gonna put Romeos' fame

right smack dab out of date...

  • I thought it was "I'm gonna put Romeo's face right smack dab on the deed" re: a house/home?

  • The Reflections achieved success purely on the strength of their well-crafted harmonies and cool professionalism.

It's no wonder that four decades later The Reflections are still heralded as one of the finest vocal groups of The Sixties Pop and Doo-Wop Music Era.They are still performing today to sell out shows and standing ovations throughout The U.S.A. and Canada.

The Reflections' name hangs proudly on the wall of the Cleveland Rock n' Roll Hall of Fame. Joey Finazzo

    Sal Prado

  • They said they rehersed this song day and night until they became a parody of themself.

  • im 23 and I hate current music. I would take this song over any crap that came out this year with few exceptions.

  • Good taste!! For me, music hit rock bottom in 1985. But I like retro too; GREAT music died in the 70s for the most part unfortunately. 29 here;)

  • 15 over here, I aree with both of you. It's not like it's just older people saying "arg music these days," a lot of TEENAGERS hate the current music too. Well, to hell with that. I'm becoming a jazz musician! :P

  • @Machine66441 Actually music became very conservative suddenly in 1985, starting to mimic music from the 50s and early 60s.

  • @Machine66441 What? So wrong. You just have to look harder now. Mainstream music has been terrible ever since disco hit, and you've pretty much had to go underground to some extent to find good music since them. The '90s and the whole (truly quality) alternative rock/grunge movement brought good music back to the mainstream for a while, back when MTV was actually worth a damn. But that all went south in the late '90s when boy bands and pop got huge. Pretty depressing , honestly.

  • Love it so much! Classic! This is such a catchy song and so sweet!

  • And the truth about the song was that these guys all hated it and goofed around recording it.

  • Incredible song! And... written by an african american!! And what a great lead and backing vocals! Remembering 1964 is great because of this record I cherish.

  • Inexplicably difficult to find this one lately...a magnificent song, just post doo-wop, but the roots come through nice and clear...thanks for preserving a classic track

  • Supurb Song

  • One of my all time favorites from Junior High!

  • Clear, crisp, clean sound. They sure knew how to make music back then. Thanks for the memories.

  • Great song! It reminds me of when my father was still avile.

  • love love LOVE this song.

  • It Tuesday had a s**t day at work logged on listened to this, 15 again no worry;s

  • Boy this brings back memories of school Disco - norther soul was much on the scene and this was always played..ME in my circle skirt and ankle socks and pumps dancing..oh it was fantastic!!!

  • They really dont and it sucks major!! I wish they did

  • They just don't make music like this anymore.

  • Wow...this brings back amazing memories. I was in grade school when this was big. I fell in love with it back then and still love it!! xo

  • These guys are from Detroit!!!!!!!! No wonder I love em'....

  • Great song

  • bella!

  • Ahh, todays crap (rap and whatnot) doesn't even come close to this music

  • vynilistic- could not agree with you more, i remember dancing to this aged 15 at the royal well disco Cheltenham 1975, if only i knew then what i know now, still great to hear the songs again (like listening to history)
