  • Thank you, Freddie, you open my horizons as a lapsteel player. I am craving for more of that blues of yours. Why not record a tutor DVD to sell online? Best regards.

Wow!

  • @cinderellalifestyle You mentioned everything what is to be mentioned. In some parts I feel so much reminded of the great Robert Nighthawk (and Hop Wilson too). Love this very much. Happy sunday my dear Laurie for you too!!

  • @cinderellalifestyle Hello Laurie Lee;-) Freddie Roulette with his "Holliday for String" was my first Love for Slide when I was still pretty young, so that's a long time ago lol!

    He's amazing, what a feeling!

  • @Boucrate Love hearing that Bou--now I will have to look for his Holiday for Strings...

his style for fluid, like thinking musically without even trying;-) love it.

that's soul music, brother! :-) blessing my dear Bou!

  • @lenaspieltblues ....Thanks Lena.This is great

  • To the best of my knowledge, Freddie and the "The Black Ace" were the only known

Blues Lap Steele players. There is a school of "Sacred Steele" that Robert Randolph came from but that is Gospel not Blues

If anyone knows of any other Blues Lap steel players, let me know

  • Look up Charlie Musselwhite's out of print "Memphis, Tennessee" for some wicked Freddie. Redefines blues fills.

  • excellent!

  • Awesome!

  • Go Freddie!

  • Any idea what tuning he has that lap steel in?

  • @Livercup Normally he is tuned to A minor

  • @jonsawyer

Oh cool! I've been playing with the idea of tuning to G minor as it solves the open-G problem of how to switch from major to minor chords quickly and easily.

    Very interesting....

    :)

  • Now that is pure badass!

I wish I could play like that sometimes. I really do.

  • Nice !

  • WOW! This guy is really good!
