@ 4:08 Now thats the holiness way to go in. When you think about the Holy Ghost or even speak of the Holy Ghost, notice how she goes right in speaking in tongues! I love it!!!!! I love unashamed Christians!!!!
@Institutionalkid how about the choirs aren't in a green room behind stage waiting for the "performance" (not worship). they are out with the audience praising God with everyone else. funny how gospel artists have become "superstars" requiring green rooms, specific foods, water, body guards, etc. what happened to being humble?
I remember this concert I was there in the audience! This was when Toledo actually had a booming radio station, now well thank God for the memories lol!
TW had some the greatest changes in Gospel music history! I havent known anybody whose chord changes can bring so much spirit!!!!! Im still stuck on Hallelujah Anyhow, LOL! now this and all this other music, LAWD HAVE MERCY!
R.I.P. Tommy aka "Maestro". His ministry still lives on..AMEN!! Volley is my dude!! He is MADD talented!! We used to have CHURCH back then in the D (Detroit)...community choirs like: Thomas Whitfield & The Company, Michael Fletcher &The Chorale, The Powerful Voices of Praise (PVOP), Michael Minigall 's Communion, Joe Smith's Blessings & Praise, Rudolph Stansfield & New Revelation....those were the days!! I know my church-goers from the D know what I'm talkin about!!
Hi there, do you know what happened to Michael Mindingalls' Communion? I had their album back in the early '90s - some great songs on there. That album is now lost and I've been looking all over the net for it....
I am from the D and I remember those days and miss them! These artists (Mininsters)were about praising God and were not obsessed with trying to sound like or look like the world in order to sell records. When did we lose focus of the vision?
@fredrolee I was raised on this great gospel...we don't concerts like this anymore Derek Logan, Michael Fletcher, Donald Vail........paved the way way for Deitrick Haddon, Rex Houston, Reginald Maddox, etc. RIP Tommy!!
lol ok thanks for that [finally?] correction. Sounds good.
I had a tape of his annual Christmas concert. Not the one released on cd/tape. And they broke into Praise His Name on there. Every rendition of this song I love it.
I know that no one will believe this, but the Lord knows I'm tell the honest truth. Last night (3/14/08) I went to a rehearsal of the DetroitMassChoir at Craig Memorial Temple (I think it may actually be the Detroit Chapter of the GMWA, but Im not sure of that). It was my 1st time being there. I actually met Michael Fletcher (the guy in the glasses conducting on this clip) & he taught this song!! He had trouble remembering the middle part(or bridge) of this song. Took him a while but he got it.
Part2: But yesterday prior to that I called friend of mine who's playing I often record & try to learn. His name is Michael Mindingall. He told me that he went on youtube & saw an old video of him playing w/ Tommy Whitfield. So this morning I come on youtube to try & find the video. Instead I find this one. Its just uncanny that these events lead me to find this song this morning that I just heard for the first time last night. Crazy. Oh & I got to play lastnite since the musicians were late.
Part3: Imagine that. My first night at this choir rehearsal and I was just going there to observe. And I end up playing for them and meeting Detroit gospel legends like Michael Fletcher, Bishop Andre Woods, and Daryl Houston. God is good!
This sure takes me back. I remember treking up to Detroit to hear Tommy. (I think that's a little Oscar Peterson and Thelonius Monk I hear in that piano.) Anybody ever attend the Tommy Awards when he would honor gospel artists??
Naw. I'm too young for that. But I wish I could've been a fly on the wall, or better yet...I wish someone would've recorded it so I could experience it. Have you ever attended the Tommy Awards yourself?
Yes. I did attend a couple of them. Some of my friends used to play with him and one year, he honored a friend. It was exciting to be around him because he was so humble. You have to admit, there's nothing like the Detroit sound.
Please keep posting these videos of the one and only
Maestro Thomas Whitfield and the Whitfield Company. They are necessary for the edifying of the body of christ. I also have a love offering for whoever is posting these videos. God bless ya life!
What is your address so I can send you a love offering. LOL. I am just that overwhelmed and blessed by these videos of the mighty Maestro in action. I didnt think there were any other videos of the Maestro out there.

Praise the Lord, Saints... I LOVE this song. Could anyone please post the lyrics for me?
Thanks!
nkosinati7 3 years ago
You can find the lyrics online, just type in the song's correct title, "Let Everything Praise Him".
thegospelfillup1 3 years ago
No..."Let Everything Praise Him" is a different song than this one...thanks for trying to help though. Lyrics for "Praise His Name"...anyone?
nkosinati7 3 years ago
Praise His Name
I'm going to Praise His Name
Praise Him in the morning noon day when the sun goes down
You must be in the Spirit
and Truth to Praise God
We have anointing power
It breaks every yoke
and the victory is yours
Because I'm born again Praise the Lord freed from sin sanctified Fire baptized
Praise the Lord
Domino1972 3 years ago
thats wrong
You must in the spirit
His truth will show the way and
His pour anointing power
cannoda 3 years ago
Thanks, somehow I knew my second line was wrong, it didn't sound right.
But can you clear up your 3rd line, that doesn't sound right: His pour anointing power?
We Have Anointing Power or He'll Gave Anointing Power?
Domino1972 3 years ago
CORRECTION:
You Must Be In the Spirit
His truth will show the way and
His pure anointing follows
To break every yoke
And your victory is gained.
NOT to pull rank or name drop but I learned this one from The Man himself! LOL! And the words never were that clear on the album.
