im scared about picking a color. i hate not matching with my neck.
im not asian (sorry im not racist i just heard they use a different undertone? idk) and i have a medium complexion. not pale but not orange, in the middle. how can i pick a right color?
I'd try getting 3 of the foundations: one you think will match, one lighter, and one darker. Buy them at a store like Ulta and keep the receipt so you can return the ones that don't match (I know Ulta takes open returns but stores like Target don't, etc).
The sponge is part of the Sonia Kashuk line, sold at Target. It may be discontinued though, I haven't seen it in awhile. If you can find it I think it's between $5-10.
Ivory is the lightest, beige is darker (for this foundation).
It depends. Some people have the theory if you're warm, get cool-toned foundation to balance it out. Others go with getting cool toned foundation for cool toned skin, to blend in. I have some redness and use a cool-toned foundation (pinker) or neutral, not warm (yellow).
i have that same sonia kashuk sponge as you do, and i'm just curious. on the other side of the sponge, what is that pointed tip for? is it for blending in the concealer under your under eye cirlcles?
Hey Moonbeambeauty! I love your videos! I have a question... In your Revlon Colorstay Foundation review you were using 110 Ivory; is that what you're using in this video??
Does this makeup dry your skin out? It did mine a little bit. How much do you use for your entire face, about a quater's worth or more? Your skin is SO gorgeous, peaches and cream!
I didn't notice it doing that to mine, maybe you could try the normal-dry formula, though that one has a dewey rather than matte finish. I use just over a quarter's amount for my face (hard to estimate because it spreads out quickly).
it leaves a layer between your face and the foundation. So it keeps your face protected from clogged pores or skin irritation. also people with mild acne like to protect there face from getting worse
i went t target one time and i asked soe lady for a blue sponge used for makeup and she din't know what i was talking about. so when i got there, where can i find it? which isle or department?
I love this colorstay. The best foundation I have ever used.
If you want a pump for them as I did, I went onto ebay and bought some airless pumps and just poured the product into them. Anything leftover in the original bottle, I just use up before I go to the pumps.( I keep them upside down so I can get all the product to flow to the lid area of the bottle)
Airless pumps ROCK! They are really hard to find in the US, so be prepared to order from the UK.
I just use my brush shampoo (from Bare Escentuals) and work it into the sponge, hold it under running water, and squeeze it a few times to work the shampoo in and rinse it out.
beautiful coverage. i've been toying with the idea of giving this foundation a try for a couple of weeks, and this tutorial has just convinced me to go out and get it. excellent video!
what a great video!!!!...I have really enjoyed it...you look amazing and everything you say sounds very proffesional...one of the rare videos showing just about everything there is to know about foundation application...great,keep up the good work!!!
you are soooo fantastic...I've watched several thousand makeup application videos, but not one of them was so spontaneous, educative and beautiful presented like your videos...very proffesional, very easy and fun to watch...just perfect!!too bad the light isnt as real as I wanted it to be, but that's Youtube I guess....you look absolutely beautiful!!
I haven't been but I recently bought neutrogena's 2-1 fight and fade gel that is supposed to help get rid of them. I'll do a review on it after I see some results.
Thanks for posting this!! I have a lot of redness on my cheeks and I think this foundation will help even out my skintone. I'm going to buy a bottle of this tomorrow.
okay i have a few questions haha. i was just wondering what color foundation you have because our skin tones look similar and i always buy the wrong color, haha. and like, how do you wash the sponge? and how often do you wash it and how do you store it and stuff? i really want one, it seems so much faster and looks nicer than using a foundation brush. so yeahhh :D just wondering. oh and why do you have to let the foundation dry? i never do :/ thankssssss. your videos are amazing.
I use my regular brush shampoo to wash the sponge, the same way as how I talked about saturating it with water before using it. I just work the shampoo, fill, squeeze. I wash it every few weeks because I only use it once or twice a week. I use the Revlon CS lightest color. I just store it in a cup that holds hair clips and random things on my makeup dresser. I let the foundation dry so the powders don't cake or streak. If using another cream, apply when foundation is damp.
okay thank you. :D i bought the foundation and it works soo well. i really want the sponge too. i've never thought about letting foundation dry, but it really makes sense, i better start doing that...:D thanks again!
Thanks for the excellent video. I do have a question though. I'm just starting out on makeup and I just bought the Revlon Colorstay for Normal/Dry Skin. It was on a sale so I bought two that are between my skin tone. However, after a few minutes of applying, the foundation turned orange on me.
Alot of drugstore foundations are darker than they appear or oxidize, turning darker on skin. I'd exchange them for a shade lighter if you can. Or just to be safe exchange one for one shade lighter and the other for 2 shades lighter.
Thanks a lot. I was thinking about mixing Ivory with Buff because the ones I bought were Buff and Sand Beige. But if I do this, will it still match my yellow undertone?
Ivory has pink undertones, so I don't think so. It may end up looking grey. If you want to mix it with something I'd try the makeup forever flash color in white, it lightens it without messing witht the texture or formula.
Yah, the sonia kashuk line is only available at Target. If it's not at your local store, look at on target's website. The name is just "blending sponge"
For me that's the only place it doesn't cover well enough. I'd get the Clinique Line Smoothing concealor, or Bare Escentuals Well Rested if you prefer powders.
i just wanted to ask...is powder absolutely necessary after you put the foundation on? i know it's good for setting, but i don't like seeing powder on skin. but if it's necessary than i'll bite the bullet and buy it.
also...if you touch your skin after, does foundation come off on your hands?
I think it is, for setting and because I'm oily so without powder I get really shiny. If you use a translucent powder and only use a tiny bit you shouldn't be able to see it. I've never had the foundation come off when I touch my skin.
wow it covered so good, so clear! but does it look like ur wearing foundation wen u go out? or does it have a nice natural look? i love the glowy oil look too very nice :)
If you use the right shade and blend it well, you really can't tell. I have had some minor issues with oxidation, but it doesn't happen every time, I'm trying to figure out the cause of it. 99% of the time it looks really natural though.
Yes, to prevent the foundation from sokaing in, but it won't quite give the same effect. The blue sponge is more dense, so it's better for stippling and provides better coverage.
WOW, this tutorial really convinced me to buy this foundation. I've been eyeing it for while but I see that it has AMAZING coverage. Do u think the sponge is what makes it go on flawlessly? Or can it be achieved with a foundation brush as well?

The dry formula does more than the oily formula, but they both do. I think the next shade up is more yellow.

There should be one makeup aisle with the sonia Kashuk brand. If it's not there, your target doesn't have it and you can get it from their website.
