To use the name of "The Young Turks" as a radio show is quite insulting to Armenian, isn't it? It's like making up a show called "The SS" or "The Nazis" -- imagine how the Jews would feel about that (not to mention how quickly it would be off the air).

Yet what is most intriguing is how there is an Armenian co-host on that show! They really need to answer some questions :S

Turk is his ethnicity, his race, his culture~you could create your own radio show the Young Hay or Young Armenian and Turks won't mind at all. But the reason he named it the Young Turks more like has to do with that the Young Turks brought down the Ottomans and secularized Turkey, not the Armenian genocide. Ana and Cenk are close friends and taked about the genocide.

And you're right, "Young Armenians" wouldn't be offensive to Turks because Armenians didn't commit acts of atrocities against them, nor did they subjugate the Turks in an oppressive empire.

I said that he named it The Young Turks because of the REFORM they did that saved Turkey and made it the country it is today (He's Turkish). No for the genocide, many people use the term Young Turk just to define a rebellious individual. The killings and forced removal in Turkey because the Ottomans tried take back control from TYT and it spilled over to killing armenia

@martinkun167 Well, Turks will differ on that. Turks believe that Armenians during the Ottoman scuffle with the TYT were also fighting for rights and killed Turks and Kurds in the process. It seems like everyone was fighting everyone (excluding Adana) and Armenians got the shortest end of the stick. There's a monument on Mount Ararat for Turks killed in the catastrophe. Armenians actually live pretty well before the empire started to fall. A lot of Turks meanwhile lived in the countryside.

Is that supposed to be some excuse for absolving the Ottoman Empire for committing the genocide? I don't think Armenians care how well they lived under the early Ottoman period, if they were ultimately treated and slaughtered like animals when the Empire was falling.
