It sounds just as robust as I would find in an LCMS Lutheran congregation at Christmas time. It is the birthday of the Lord Jesus Christ that we celebrate at Christmas, and the hope that He has brought to a dying world. He is our rescuer and redeemer.
This is how church music should sound (especially at Christmas time)! We're lucky to have a talented organist at our ELCA church, but I must admit some of the liturgy songs in our new hymnal are pretty bad.
remember that it was the Roman Catholic church was the one who began using the music and liturgy that the anglican church uses today!, but the changes in the book of common prayer werent as liberal than they were in vatican II
@1wendt You are exactly right. And now we are all faced with having to deal with another new translation of the Roman Missal, and all of the changes, no matter how small, that comes with it. Because now the powers that be realize the Catholic Church has swung too far in one direction. This won't eliminate the "hippies", but it's a good start on getting us back where we need to be.
I like this. I used to be Episcopalian before I converted to Catholicism, but this procession reminds me of the wonderful processions that were pretty typical of Episcopal churches. I love the Catholic Church, but I do miss the great music and beautiful liturgy of the Episcopal Church.
@rasVA1960 , I am Catholic and I understand what you are saying. I was an organist for a cathedral in the south. This was my favorite time to play because it was so majestic. We had many singers, strings, and other instruments to make it a time of joy. .I miss playing and hope to get into it again.
There is something very special about midnight mass.Pastor is restoring it this year and i'm very much looking forward to it.God bless you all there at St Peter's!
What a beautifully orchestrated solemn processional for the Nativity of Our Lord. The church sanctuary is very tastefully and beautifully adorned with decorations celebrating the Feast of Christmas. The choral presentation for the entrance processional is glorious and the organist does a phenomenal job performing the music. It makes me remember why I have alwarys loved the hymn O Come All Ye Fatihful and especially this version. Thanks for posting and sharing.
Oh, WOW! Please keep posting the glorious videos. I love the fact that the choir is composed of volunteers. The articulation and clarity is superb. You make me want to take a drive out just to see the country and hear the wonderful liturgical music. Give my sincere appreciation to your congregations for supporting a music program such as this with such wonderful singing.
The quality of Music at Epsicopal and some Catholic Parishes in Columbia is outstanding! Trinity Episcopal Cathedral and St. Peters carry on the traditions of great church music!
@4902STEVEN...I sincerely hope not...but you're right, in too many cases, that has happened. I hope whoever the next pastor of St. Peter's is respects the great thing they have going, and just leaves it alone.
At first I thought for sure this was an Anglican or Episcopal Church! I've been an organist now for 21 years, and it is rare to see congregational singing, organ performance, and liturgical movement of this caliber in a Roman Catholic Church. Soli Deo Gloria.
goes to midnight mass now in ireland, hope the choir will be as good as this!!!!

Wow...I think I cried a little. Absolutely awe-inspiring. Other-worldly. Everything church music should be.

Yah, the music is good and will be until............then next pastor arrives.....then he will
run them all off. I have seen many pastors come in and run off a music program like this in favor of folk music...........
