sweet singing, nice licks, cool guy, but the camera is really annoying. please hold still next time. you're not michael bay, you're just supposed to let us see the artist perform. thank you.
It's a 5-string. Normally you tune it like a banjo, but DEE's tuning for this song is a C-minor tuning: GCGCD#. The song sounds great when played on a regular banjo as well, and it's quite easy to learn.
this is great. and this video series is almost as good as the "le cargo" series. why does europe seem to have a monopoly on our great american music? don't bother telling me, I already know why...
Ok, found the answer (and in fact 1121VX wrote it back 5 months ago). He is playing a banjola, which he has been using a lot lately. Nice sound. Apparently you tune it like a banjo.
Does anyone know what the instrument is that he is playing? The neck looks like a banjo neck, but the body is like a small bodied guitar. Never seen one before.
Its called a banjola by August Pollman circa 1890s it as a mandolin body and a banjo neck,you know its a AP by the white pearl disk on the headstock..Would cost you around £400-£600 depending on condition...Goldtone to a modern version for around £300
This is banjo with body similar to mandolin. Mandolin has 8 srings, or 4 double...
sniffthestuff 10 months ago
@sniffthestuff it's called a banjola !
veltmore1 10 months ago
@veltmore1 It's a turn of the century Pollman 'mandoline-banjo,' the inspiration for the modern Goldtone banjola.

@RkstEurope - never mind this crappy, self-righteous comment, camerawork is great as it is. Thanks for posting!
@kiryll212, how come you can tell people what they're supposed to let you see?

This is amazing! I would really love to learn how to play the banjola. Is this a 5 or 6 stringer (hard to see on the video)?
