  • This is banjo with body similar to mandolin. Mandolin has 8 srings, or 4 double...

  • @sniffthestuff it's called a banjola !

  • @veltmore1 It's a turn of the century Pollman 'mandoline-banjo,' the inspiration for the modern Goldtone banjola.

  • @Deadjoe669 Thanks for the info !

  • Brilliant. This man is an amazing musician and my favorite in the world.

  • great song and great musician....

I have a doubt about what instrument he's playing, it is a banjo isn't it? but not a common banjo, no? if not please give me the name of it.

  • hey...it's a mandolin

  • @chippychikkin

No, it's a banjola, banjo neck and a wooden body

  • @steveodorlessgray hey thanks i've never even heard of that!

  • sweet singing, nice licks, cool guy, but the camera is really annoying. please hold still next time. you're not michael bay, you're just supposed to let us see the artist perform. thank you.

  • @RkstEurope - never mind this crappy, self-righteous comment, camerawork is great as it is. Thanks for posting!

@kiryll212, how come you can tell people what they're supposed to let you see?

  • i'm in love too..

  • greetings from palilula marketplace!!

  • pozdrav sa palilulske pijace!!

  • I think he does the percussion with his feet

  • its just the sound of the pick clanking against the instrument

  • ...i'm in love...

  • goosebumps

  • Right on

  • Amazing...thanks for the upload!

    He's a Legend for all I care,fukkin brilliant artist

  • what an artist , one of the best ever

  • D.E.E. is absolutely great!

    R.I.P. 16 HP.

  • This version is so intense it sends shivers down my spine. Breathtaking.

  • incredible music, I have all his records

  • This is amazing! I would really love to learn how to play the banjola. Is this a 5 or 6 stringer (hard to see on the video)?

  • It's a 5-string. Normally you tune it like a banjo, but DEE's tuning for this song is a C-minor tuning: GCGCD#. The song sounds great when played on a regular banjo as well, and it's quite easy to learn.

  • que buena es!

  • hahaha yeah i went into D overdrive there!!!

  • ps seen him 5x the best live performer ever perioddddddddddd

  • 100% agreed. But you have a few 'd's too much ;-)

  • Very beautiful, thank you. I could listen to DEE for hours and hours and hours...

  • this is white soulmusic....love it

  • just amazing

  • this is great. and this video series is almost as good as the "le cargo" series. why does europe seem to have a monopoly on our great american music? don't bother telling me, I already know why...

  • Ok, found the answer (and in fact 1121VX wrote it back 5 months ago). He is playing a banjola, which he has been using a lot lately. Nice sound. Apparently you tune it like a banjo.

  • Does anyone know what the instrument is that he is playing? The neck looks like a banjo neck, but the body is like a small bodied guitar. Never seen one before.

  • I think it's a wooden banjo or something like that.

  • A banjola I think...whatever that is, btw.

  • Its called a banjola by August Pollman circa 1890s it as a mandolin body and a banjo neck, you know its a AP by the white pearl disk on the headstock..Would cost you around £400-£600 depending on condition...Goldtone to a modern version for around £300

  • And he's got nylon strings on?

  • No mine as steel, and the others ive seen have steel normally, but there are nylon sets that you could use i guess..

  • Wow! That was incredible! Lovely version!

  • Great song. A very profound Christian artist. I wish I could praise the Lord with lyrics this beautiful. Amazing!

  • it was in a French Venue called " Le Divan du Monde" just before the show. a Magic moment, probably my favourite moment.

  • Beautiful unplugged version with DEE on the banjo/la. (In the dressing room?) Good sound quality. Thanks for posting this.
