Please reply .. i have this video cam just a week ago and i can't use my SD CARD on it.. the VideoCam always said that its "CARD DOOR OPENED." when i select SD Card .. may i.ask how to use SD card on it? please please please reply .. thanks
@AirsoftLjl Hook it up through usb, computer, click on it's Hard Drive, find the files, copy (or cut) and paste wherever, and do whatever you want. Unless you want to deal with the convenient not so user friendly auto upload which always seems to mess something up. ;) Yessir
the first clip of the birds on the feeder, how did you get that focus on just the birds and seeder and blur out the background? because i also have this camcorder and I dont like it too much. I would prefer if i could get a focus? :)
@JoeFulford I was about 20 feet away or so I would say, so if you zoom in on a bird size object from 20 feet away, I'm sure it should look similar. Other than that, this camera's focus is limited. :(
@jaysmith12 thanks for the reply. :) but i have just gone a bought myself a pentax kr for £500 with a £200 lens. The quality is outstanding and the focus is brilliant! If your considering professional quality, you should really take a look at the pentax kr. Its amazing
Hello ... My SDR-H80 works well with the external power supply but does not work with the battery . Displays " this battery cannot be used". So I bought a new battery but still the same. Can someone help me to troubleshoot this? Thanks.
Nice video! I've owned this camera for over a year, and I've tried to film and upload several videos on my second channel. But everytime I upload it (edited in Movie Makes), it doesn't come out widescreen like your video did (i get black and gray bars on all sides of my video when I view it on youtube). Are there any settings you use on the camera to make the video appear widescreen (fills up the whole viewing screen) on youtube?
@insanomonkey Ok, maybe you have sorted this problem by now, but you can add yt:crop=16:9 or yt:stretch=16:9 in your TAGS on YouTube to make your video fill the whole player.
Good advice, and can i just say ..............." don't comment saying how much of a(n) (your choice of insult here) I am for being an elite. I do not care what you think about my gameplay." ... brilliant. Is it a good camera for college you think?
@branbabe Yes, I'd say it is a good camera for college. Although the quality is quite poor, unless you're recording something that would require great quality. But for college, incase you have a video you have to make for class, or recording pranks on friends, should be just fine.
i've got a panasonic sdr-h80....i can copy videos from the hdd to the pc but i can't copy files prom pc to the camera....it says its write-protected.... can you give me some advice how to remove it?
@DandyBabee There should be one in the box and it plugs in behind the battery but i cant get my computer to reconize that its there but i dont know it could just be me, my computer, or the camera, who knows
ok i've looked trough the comments and the author seems like he doesn't understand why videos took taken from panasonic sdr-h80 camera look as if they were not shot in 16:9 ratio when uploaded to youtube. The problem is that youtube uses square pixel system and camera is using PAL's anamorphic widescreen which has pixels slightly longer than wider... It can be converted from one to another by using some video editing software which supports such conversion...

Am considering this camcorder. I will want to use it indoors in normal domestic lighting and also outdoors on ski slopes. I want to edit footage and create DVDs using a PC running XP. I don't have a HD TV or a BluRay player and no prospect of getting one so I think a good SD camera is the best choice. Do you think there are any reasons this camcorder would NOT be suited to my needs?
It does not make it HD no matter what you do to it. but if you want that HD button to show up just upload it 720 or 1080 thats all you need to do. It will take longer and not help anything. this camera is just a bad camera. I had one and took it back.
I used pinnacle studio's v12 ultimate. It's roughly 100-150$. As Freddy said, it doesn't make the video HD, it just makes youtube have the button there. Think of the video composed of the 336,000 squares of a standard definition video. All I do when I make it HD is make the 336,000 individual squares, made of 6 smaller squares. So the 1 individual square is still a low definition pixel, but youtube recognizes it as 6 individual pixels. >.>
I just got this camera about an hour ago and read the reviews on Amazon. (it was a rewards gift from American Express and they would'nt tell me what model I was getting---imagine: a bank not being up front with information). Anyway, everybody was dogging this thing about the quality, or rather, lack thereof. But it looks good here. I'm not trying to shoot a remake of Avatar... I just want to start You Tubing.
ey i own this camera but i am having issues downloading my videos as 16:9 files - reaelly getting on my nerves, posting them on youtube and they keep appearing in something like 4:3 not exactly sure - anyway i can fiz this - and yes they are being filmed in 16:9
also do you have the name and model # of the light and where can i purchase it? i looked on the panasonic website and i cant find one compatible with this camcorder. thanks again!
Again, you aren't going to find any lights compatable with this camera. This camera does not have a shoe port for the lights to fit into. You're best option would be to just get a large LED light, and hold it if you're willing to do that. >.> Otherwise, you wont find a light to mount to the camera.
Would you reccomend these kind of cameras for professional use, or at least for achieving results usually made on a VHS/DVD camcorder. I was always against the digital hard drive cameras, the always seem dull and pixely. I always liked to record onto a tape or disc.
So yeah, my question basically is how do you think these compare to the DVD/VHS camcorders. Im looking for something i can edit and put onto DVD (family events, weddings etc) and still have that quality
For professional use, this camera is a horrible choice. Tapes and discs don't make too much of a difference. Especially if you get a High Definition camera. For professional use, I just go to a best buy in a large city, and ask them if they can show you any cameras for what you're looking for. They usually can help you, and provide more information than I can/could.
Yes, you can buy a light to attach to the top of the camera. Unfortunately this particular camera doesn't have the port to attach the light to. So you're going to have to hold it, or attach it to a tripod. >.>
It's okay for it. For the price it wouldn't be too bad. I'd look into a high definition camera if you could afford that. If not, this will do just fine. :)
If you are asking if this camera is good, then yea, it's not bad. It's easy to handle, fairly light, and great zoom for when someone is skating away, and you don't want to run to keep up.
as in my information writing to the right, I used pinnacle studios to cut my standard definition into high definition. All it does is divide the larger pixels into smaller pixels. It may not seem like it enhances quality, but it actually does. That's the only reason why mine seems higher detail. As for width, search for the 16:9 aspect ratio in the settints.
Oh, I understand what you mean. This is the thing, for some reason the computer thinks it's 4:3 because it's standard defintion. So you have to stretch it to 16:9 using video editing software. I had the same problem, I thought you meant on your camera though. So that is what the problem is. The computer distorts it to 4:3, but it's really 16:9. Minor problem fixed with a video editing software.
It's okay. Sony Vegas will, Adobe Premiere I've never tried, windows movie maker will not. You could try Camtasia, but you still have to buy it. If I were you, I'd ask a question video editing programs, and maybe someone can help you out.
it depends on what you edit and render your videos with. if you dont change anything when editing it will come out 4:3 its how every editing software is set up
No, you do not need an SD card for that. You will never need an SD card for any reason, unless you want to use an SD card for pictures, and have the SD card taken to a place to have them printed on a higher quality printer/paper. Otherwise, as long as you have a computer, a printer, printing paper, and ink, I highly doubt you will ever need to use/use an SD card for any purpose. :) HDD cameras are just beastly like that. :)
If you have it set to 16:9 aspect on the camera, and it views on the entire camcorder screen, then it is recording correctly. If you installed the disc that came with the camera, and you upload through that, then when you watch it on Windows media, or anything else, it will view 4:3 aspect ratio. The only way you can view it 16:9 is either one of the 2.
1. Upload directly from the camera by going into computer, then into the HDD, copy, and pasting the folders.
