I didn't quite get what Zack meant by Nibelheim being a backwater name until my sister said it means something like "fog/mist home" in German. (Nebel=fog/mist & heim=home.)

Of course, Nibelheim has an 'i' so I'm not 100% sure about that. But seeing as it's Cloud's hometown, it might make sense. XD

What I was saying was that it isn't Aerith's death or even his revelations of stolen identity that turned him into the morose bastard they make him out to be in AC/C. Rather, it was the feelings of guilt (because he enjoyed his life) and failure to adequately protect his friends and family.
