For those of you that really enjoy the game may I suggest that if you play regularly you may want to recreate the map onto a large wall panel (lying flat of course!). We have done that and created a "war room" Check out my pics on facebook.
I used to be a Axis and Allies gamer from back when the original game was out. I must say I don't know what to think of all these version they make and commercialise these days....
If there is one thing back then I used to wish for intensely, is have a world wide version starting in 1939, with France and Italia as players, as well as China.
i have the europe set were its brittish, amarica, and russia all v.s germany and i was playing as germany and i won :D :D :D but i wish they could just make one big board with all the countrys and all the different unts so you did not need to chose what one to get
i prefer the 4 combined boards over the 3 but i cant find a way to win as the axis powers. i dont know if i just suck or if its off balance. the american money seems to much...
I just got the Spring 1942 edition! I don't know about the other editions but this version contains some differences between the individual units. For example, the battle ships are all different to fit their construction in that particular territory.
@MagaAbomb it crashed a few times but mainly it was because the host left the game. or your maps are not updated. Make shure your maps versions are the same with the other players and make shure you selected the correct map file before you start . If you need new files before you click start game gotohe web site and copy the get maps link on there site then go back into the game and select download maps and then paste the link into the box
If I bought axis and allies again i'd want the big boy. new map more pieces but that's more stuff you can lose though. I once tried to play this game with real money... that was a big mistake!
The person who asked if you can play this game online you can for free the game is called tripplea ( spelling is not right I know ) any way it is free to dl is about 3 to 5 megs lol and it is very good just google it
@gloverj i downloaded it and it keeps closing. I played for a minute and a half and it closed. It said there was a bug. Did that happen to you and how do i fix it.
@jordakai are you looking for the original axis and allies? they call that axis anda llies calssic, it features the entire world map. the reprinted version is more shiny looking but the exact same concept. both games can be baught on amazon.com or in most comic book and card game stores. dont even try going to any major chain stores, I can assure you none of them carry it. But your ebst bet is too buy it online, its much cheaper and comes in the mail ussualy within the week.
@TheSultan79 mate mini wargaming is supposed to be classic we are trying to revive a much loved hobby videogames seem to be a disease thats slowly killing a great hobby so don't make it worse please you may think im an old man im actually 12 years old and i'm going to keep this hobby alive
yea that is true i used to play the actual board game when i lived in the 90s and i prefer to play on an actual board game than pc because the board game is more fun
I dont think video games are a disease and I don't think that they will kill board gaming. This sounds like the same line of thought that came around when the computer was invented, everyone thought books would disappear. My friends and I get together very often to play both video and board games, its a matter of preference, nothing more.
Nice review dude. I'm familiar with the Axis and Allies base game but clicked on this video out of curiosity anyway and I was delighted to see that you talk about all of the spin off games. If you want a bit of advise I would suggest you add that information to the title to get a few more hits.
My bad, the new version does show territories in a dark color. However the 1981 map is brighter and make placement easier plus it gives the player a feeling of ownership to each empire he plays.
well a better website is gametableonline(dot)com. You can't play online without paying but you can do some surveys ON the website and get online (4eva!) i think thats better then yours....Sorry ^^
Sure if you want to pay and download it. But really without the special affects its just a good old fashion sit down board game. I play it online as if I would sit and play it with others as I did in the 90s. The old 1981 version is the best, Ive looked at the updated new one, there just way to much stuff and the map despite being accurate it does not show territories they had conquered prior to 1942. So playing for free in regular fashion...you just can't beat that! ;)
I almost want to put an ad in the damn paper to find somebody to play this with, I bought it, I would like to play it.
My dad gave it a chance, my friends gave it a chance, it's not like they didn't like it, they just weren't interested in playing it again after the first time.
This is the best one out I just bought the Anniversary Edition of this one... I think the Anniversary Edition is practically the same just with a few more revisions.
the revised edition fixes the bugs from the first game. there is a large list of problems found in A&A 1942. not that it isnt fun but if you are looking for a more well rounded game that is more fair for every team and faction go with Axis and Allies Revised if you are looking for a buy.
Axis & Allies is out of stock at Avalon Hill. It has been since about Christmas time. They are reprinting it under the name Axis & Allies 1942. It should be available in the next few months (summer time). Keep an eye out on Best Dang Games - we will carry it when it is available. You can pre-order it.
Will Axis and Allies 1942 be like the anniversary editionand will be able to buy it at places like Wal Mart or will you only be able to buy it online.
The Anniversary Edition is beautiful! Not only does it add Italy & China, but you can set up 2 different ways (to simulate '41 or '42). Victory conditions are slightly different; twice as many Techs are available; almost all ships are cheaper; factories can be damaged, limiting production; and more territories means a longer game. A very nice addition to the A&A series. Expensive, yes, but worth it, IMO.
Yes, you're right. Sorry if I suggested that it's a separate player. But the new rules of how China fights make it a lot harder for Japan to take Asia. And Italy as a separate power gives Germany more ability to fight Russia and UK without worrying so much about Africa. A very balanced game. Played it twice already: Axis 1, Allies 1.
Yes its one of those board games worth spending on. I recently bought the anniversary edition but decided to not open or use it. The set is well designed and I would hate taking off the parts. Anyway, The Chinese forces in this game are Nationalist forces which today controls Taiwan and not the Communist forces
number 1 d-day doesnt suck its an awesome game and it falls with battle of the bulge as a great game and what about pacific, otherwise cool introduction
I should probably qualify my statement. I'm the presenter for this video. I was trying to emphasize that D-Day focused more on the combat strategy side as opposed to the logistical and economic side of the game. This is interesting because of the larger emphasis on this in the new games. Thanks for the feedback though. I realize now that we may have not emphasize that all these games are good in their own right.
No. It wasn't available. Even though AH (Hasbro) has continuously "sold" their entire Axis and Allies line since it's reintroduction (save for the Anniversary edition), they have had supply shortages to the distributors for some of them. At the time of the filming, Pacific was out of stock at distributors nationwide. So, we were a bit caught out.
For those of you that really enjoy the game may I suggest that if you play regularly you may want to recreate the map onto a large wall panel (lying flat of course!). We have done that and created a "war room" Check out my pics on facebook.
