I just got Sheena to join my party...

Looking back on it, she was actually one of the hardest bosses I fought, the first time I faced her.

Her battle theme, this, is my favorite song in the game so far.

@SwerveStarEx Word of advice : Sheena is fucking tough once you level her up and get her a lot of shit XD. But in my opinion, Lloyd and Kratos are the strongest protagonists. Abyssion and Mithos are killer antagonists. XD

Oooooh god, this song reminds me of Abyssion. XD Me and two of my other friends were playing, and after several GRUELING minutes of trying not to die, we finally ran out of Life Bottles, Raine (our friggin healer) was dead, everyone was down to around 100 HP, and we had no idead how much HP Abyssion had left. Right when he was about to kill us all, the Indignation I was trying to cast for the longest time finally hit him, and he died. XDDD

I beat Garr, Meredy, and Farah around lvl 70 on my first playthrough. I didn't even know you could change titles till I was around level 40, making my characters really weak. I don't know how I beat anything, I was such a noob at the time. This game and I just worked well together I guess.

Still my favorite game of all time. Made me cry.

@McScreamo The hardest time I ever had with him was fighting him on mania mode while all my characters were level 60. He almost but raped me (everyone except Lloyd was dead), but then I pulled a falcon's crest and took away the last 5k of his HP. I was sweating like a bitch xD

I remember when i tried to beat Abyssion, I was doing so well...

Until I ran out of life bottles. Everyone was dead except me being Lloyd. I felt i was doomed but I continued on anyways doing the best dodging and jumping back of my life landing hits in order to get TP to dodge his moves. It got to a point where I was in the red...and I was the most scared in my life.

Then...a miracle happened. I landed one more pitiful hit and I had defeated him.

He was STUPID HARD! High level spells unleashed in a mere INSTANT! He has his own overlimit, almost all of your own powerful moves and spells, a BUTT TON of HP as well as overwhelming STR., DEF., and MAG.

Sadly, we'll need to disagree there. Yuri may have been more fun to play as, but his character is just lacking. Lloyd is only human, he makes mistakes and grows from his experiences. Yuri is too perfect from the start, like a Final Fantasy character, and I can't stand that kind of thing because it makes the game seem to lack horribly in character devellopment.

I dare you to say you didn't once feel queasy when listening to Lloyd talk about having to save everything.

Personally, I liked the way Yuri's character development all wrapped up before the game started. It gave him a chance to be something of a mentor to the rest of the cast (excluding Raven and Judith, of course).

He wasn't without his flaws. He chose a somewhat destructive path and stuck to it. Being a level-headed, decisive adult doesn't make a character perfect.

"Wrapped up before the game started?" It's not "character devellopment" if you just get a character with no room to grow and change without knowing the reason. Compare to Tales of the Abyss: Jade was unrealistically "perfect" but once you learn about his past and his reasons, combined with his age giving him more time to mature, he makes sense as a character. Yuri's past is never revealed in any great depth and he just has no real reason, unlike Jade.

Same goes when you compare Yuri and Lloyd. Lloyd, at the start of the game, is a naive idiot. He's all morals and no logic. However, as the plot progresses, he learns and grows. I just felt that Tales of Vesperia was way too shallow to meet the standards of depths of other Tales games. I still like it, but it feels like Final Fantasy with Tales's battles, which ish't what I look for in a Tales game.

If a character is established and static throughout the course of a game/book/film, I am not inclined to believe they have less complexity because of that. Some of Vesperia's supporting cast do grow throughout the game, and so Yuri is balanced out by dynamic characters anyway.

All character complexity and literary merit aside, if I were to meet these two characters in real life, I'd feel way more comfortable around Yuri. I think that's why he's so many people's favourite.

You have a point there. You can't really call it character development if it happened before the events of the game. Either way, Yuri's backstory shouldn't lose credibility just because it's less elaborate than Jade's. He was dissatisfied with the knights (they made a movie about it if you really want it fleshed out) so he went his own way. Yes, Yuri is younger than jade, but I find it believable that someone his age should be able to make aforementioned level-headed decisions.
