  • Thanks for sharing this info Jay!

  • TiredofJwhypocrites, I was brought up as a JW however I no longer belong to the religion for my own reasons. In your arguement about the witnesses being wrong you as the rhetorical question if moses got it wrong. If I recall before entering the land of Canaan, the Isrealites God's chosen people who have seen the red sea open up doubted God's Word in taking over Canaan, they were wrong and sentenced to the wilderness, yet Moses stuvk with them because they were God's people.....

  • Hi JWA, I don't find myself in a position to judge the Sodomites. I personally find their way of life to be abhorrant and I feel they were judged by their hearts and actions.

Does this mean they are deserving of an eternal death? I can't say. Christ tells us not to judge and I do my very best to not do that. Hard as I find it at times, I keep my big flapper shut. LOL

  • I appreciate your comment. The Bible gives 2 opposing comments about them. Jesus said one thing, the apostle said another. Give this ambiguity, neither opinion should be slammed as "tiredofJW" is doing.

  • I can see both points. Magic is saying to mind our business. That makes sense. And JWA is now saying that I am slamming. I didn't want to go this route, but now that JWA opened the door I feel it must be addressed. If the JW's flip flop from one death to another for the men of Sodom, could it be because the Bible flip flops? Why would an Apostle say something contrary to something uttered by The Christ?

  • Don't know. What we do know is there is ambiguity about the issue. Jesus said many things that were illustrative (plucking your eye out, cutting off your hand, drinking blood, eating flesh, etc.) and he said something regarding the Sodomites. The Apostles said something else about them. At first glance, it seems like 2 different things. However, it is what it's going to be. If someone holds an opinion and then changes, who am I to slam them as flip-flopping? This is a very small issue.

  • Jesus said that the men of Sodom would rise up in the judgment and condemn the unbelievers of Christ's day. But, the apostles later wrote that Sodom received the judicial punishment of everlasting fire. So what is it? The Scriptures can be interpreted both ways. Is the destiny of the Sodomites is really so important to you?

So what is YOUR answer, are they or aren't they going to be resurrected and why?

Will you condemn yourself if you later change your mind?

  • The destiny of the sodomites is only important to me in the sense that the Watchtower Society (WTS) has deemed themselves worthy of pronouncing the judgement as eternal or not on the people who died in Sodom and Gomorrah. The flip-flops are of concern to me since they claim to be God's Channel of communication.

  • The WT doesn't pronounce judgment. They leave judgement to Jehovah and Jesus. Yet, they're not shy about specifically talking about what the Bible teaches. Jesus said one thing. The other Bible writers said the opposite. How to interpret? The WT gives their opinion. That opinion has changed over time. It is you who are pronouncing judgement against the WT. Be careful of the judgement you hurl against others. (Matt 7:1)

  • Don't they? I think that they do and have seen it in many ways. They change doctrine why? Almighty God does not change. They change things to fit their spur of the moment doctrine. I don't judge, my friend I am simply pointing out the flaws I see. Jehovah, YHWH, Yaweh, however He is called, along with his son will do the judging. At least I can agree with you on this...

Thanks for sharing your point of view!

    Enjoy the weekend...

  • The WT doesn't make "spur of the moment" decisions about doctrine. There is much thought that goes into every decision They provide much scriptural support and reasoning around their views. The destiny of the Sodomites is interesting, but ultimately unimportant as we each show Jehovah who we really are in our own behavior and faith. Do we act like sheep or goats? Do we focus on finding faults in others or are we peaceable. Calling someone else a hypocrite is a very serious charge.
